It's not a word that comes up in everyday speech, Lucas wants to be ineffective and bungling? And yes, I had to look up this definition.

I'm sure this isn't going to be the last time I say this, but: Words are meant for communication. Larger words have their place, as they could describe concepts more specifically often, but is generally agreed that they're not supposed to be an impediment to communication and comprehension.

Lucas exclusively uses multisyllabic words to try to pet his own ego and make other people think he's intelligent, it's a total ruse.

Unfortunately, the average person is probably dumb enough to think that Lucas knows the meaning of some of these words, so I think he gets away with this more than he should.

For example: I wasn't certain of the meaning of maladroit, but I knew that if I didn't know it there was no way that Lucas did. So I looked it up, because I enjoy reminding everyone how stupid and pretentious Lucas is.
