Artcow Luna Tiny / Sara Elizabeth O'Hern / Anonymous-Asexual / AnonymousArtist - Fake troon, fake asexual, possible art thief

Don't forget the plaid. They wear a shitload of plaid because lumberjacks...I guess? Also suspenders. In fact it really seems like the FtM/non-binary chick's idea of what a dude dresses like usually equates to being Urkel with a bad dye job.

Plaid flannel is pretty popular with lesbians. And people who refuse to let grunge die, I guess.

I don't get how AA's art looks so bland. I'm going through their comics and all of it uses the same bland art style over and over again. How does this person not improve over the span of months? Do they not get tired of looking at it? It's like they just churned their are in a machine and called it a day.

As seen in this thread, just some small edits to the art would look nicer. But I assume their ego doesn't allow them to take any criticism. Why is every art tumblrite somehow the most open person in the world, but the moment you even criticize them, it's the end of everything?

This doesn't just affect their personality, but their artwork as well. Bright hair colors CAN work, but they look so gaudy here. Color theory? What's that?

She draws like the group home resident who draws the WikiHow art.
Luna Rose >>>> Luna Tiny.
That long, sharp horn does actually appear in the original show, but only on the older winged unicorn princesses. Unsurprisingly, her grasp of the canon is a little loose.
SJWs think making Mary-Sue characters is "actually, good" because they've woven a narrative that bashing on garbage OP characters is actually an attack on female fic writers, which they have extrapolated to "queer women in fiction" based on the assumption that most fanfiction is written by the LGBT, so especially in 2014 where she is terminally stuck, making overpowered hybrid princess OCs is a sick way to dunk on the MRA dudebros. There were a couple people during the DownWithMolestia saga who got popular doing just that.

What pushes my buttons is how trivial the comic is. Your mom uses the wrong pronoun, and that's your biggest problem?

And okay, that bit about being instantly raped and murdered if you go outside, which is something you need to discuss with your therapist before calling the police.

I genuinely want to see if I can redesign Luna's character design, but at this point, I'm not sure if I can do it without it looking completely different because of how horrible it looks. Especially color-wise.

If you're trying to make it look actually good, it would have to look completely different, because as it is, it looks like complete shit.

How did someone go to art school and then not even be able to draw MLP fanart? That shit is easy and there are literally millions of references you could use. Instead she draws these off-model lumpy weird looking things.

Probably has to do with a lot of art students having a “I’m so good, I don’t even NEED to practice or take criticism!” mentality, usually because they’re used to being the best artist in their whole school.

So they ignore pretty much everything they might be taught while teachers pass them because, hey, it’s no skin off their back if the snowflake can’t make a career out of shitty MLP fan art and toothpaste hair.

That shit drives me up the wall because the people who have always been the most critical of Mary Sues have been other women who write fanfiction. This weird narrative that somehow only men do this baffles me and makes me wonder what the fuck world they're living in where sites like GAFF were populated entirely by cishet dudebros.

I've never been to art school, but something tells me that art schools have terribly low standards. I'd have to see if her portfolio is available online, but I remember rcdarts' application being.. not too good. It's also uneblievable that Dobson got through art school as well.
Are people like them anomalies, or the standard?

I go to art school and what I can say is that like any other post-secondary education, the teachers only provide the resources, while most of the work is from the students themselves. That includes using said resources and go to their teachers for feedback and networking purposes.

These people didn't seem to have done much work.

Depending on the school, you have ones who tolerate people like Luna because their parents are paying and it means more talented but otherwise poorer students (who may have grants and scholarships, but those only go so far) can have the resources they need. I don't know anything about Luna's family, but given her nature and desperation to be oppressed, I wouldn't be shocked if that were the case.

I don't know if this was the thread I said it in or I said this about another artist (probably Paige Hall), but she's probably the kind they'd just give the lowest possible passing grade just to get them the hell out.

I see. You'd think these kinds of people wouldn't get accepted in the first place, though, unless they had a bomb application and fizzled out as soon as they got accepted.

Speaking from some experience, people with less to lose don't try as hard at bettering their art- and yeah, look for reasons to be disadvantaged like you said. I'd be surprised if Luna wasn't rich.

Re: art school: depending on the school they will take literally anyone. With something as nebulous as the arts there's going to naturally be a lot of schools with different philosophies.

Schools like Ringling want to get you ready for a career--drilling fundamentals, breaking down "style" until you could draw in any way that is required of you, building a portfolio and creating connections, and so on.
Other schools will instead prioritize creativity and ~artistic vision~ and push you to develop yourself naturally, and take a more holistic approach... which imho is a huge waste of money to go to. These, counter-intuitively, fall more on the expensive side of the spectrum because they cater to spoiled children with money and ego.
Something like CalArts is really more in the middle of the spectrum, despite its reputation.

I dunno where Luna's going but it's either a shit school or she's a shit student. Or both. The Dunning-Kruger Effect is extremely potent among artists, though, which is why she's probably not putting effort into her studies. Anyone remember the huge hissy fit she threw when someone gave her a few pointers about her anatomy, going as far as to draw a comic strawmanning said random person?

Please, please, someone post that
So it looks like she deleted a lot of the messages that were posted on her tumblr but I do remember that she had a lot of people telling her "hey practice art" or "your arms are short" or "references are your friend" and she screeched a lot about "it's MY style, you don't get to comment on it! my art isn't for you! if you don't like it stop looking at it!" and of course there was a flood of asspatters.

Around this time, her comics were getting more (negative) attention, in particular I think some guy dubbed over them on Facebook and a "hate account" opened on tumblr. All in March/April of this year.

Sorry for the letdown lol.
