Leaders in Industry Support White House Call to Address Root Cause of Many of the Worst Cyber Attacks


WASHINGTON – Today, the White House Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) released a report calling on the technical community to proactively reduce the attack surface in cyberspace. ONCD makes the case that technology manufacturers can prevent entire classes of vulnerabilities from entering the digital ecosystem by adopting memory safe programming languages. ONCD is also encouraging the research community to address the problem of software measurability to enable the development of better diagnostics that measure cybersecurity quality.

The report is titled “Back to the Building Blocks: A Path Toward Secure and Measurable Software.”

“We, as a nation, have the ability – and the responsibility – to reduce the attack surface in cyberspace and prevent entire classes of security bugs from entering the digital ecosystem but that means we need to tackle the hard problem of moving to memory safe programming languages,” said National Cyber Director Harry Coker. “Thanks to the work of our ONCD team and some tremendous collaboration from the technical community and our public and private sector partners, the report released today outlines the threat and opportunity available to us as we move toward a future where software is memory safe and secure by design. I’m also pleased that we are working with and calling on the academic community to help us solve another hard problem: how do we develop better diagnostics to measure cybersecurity quality? Addressing these challenges is imperative to ensuring we can secure our digital ecosystem long-term and protect the security of our Nation.”

By adopting an engineering-forward approach to policymaking, ONCD is ensuring that the technical community’s expertise is reflected in how the Federal Government approaches these problems. Creators of software and hardware can have an outsized impact on the Nation’s shared security by factoring cybersecurity outcomes into the manufacturing process.

“Some of the most infamous cyber events in history – the Morris worm of 1988, the Slammer worm of 2003, the Heartbleed vulnerability in 2014, the Trident exploit of 2016, the Blastpass exploit of 2023 – were headline-grabbing cyberattacks that caused real-world damage to the systems that society relies on every day. Underlying all of them is a common root cause: memory safety vulnerabilities. For thirty-five years, memory safety vulnerabilities have plagued the digital ecosystem, but it doesn’t have to be this way,” says Anjana Rajan, Assistant National Cyber Director for Technology Security. “This report was created for engineers by engineers because we know they can make the architecture and design decisions about the building blocks they consume – and this will have a tremendous effect on our ability to reduce the threat surface, protect the digital ecosystem and ultimately, the Nation.”

ONCD has engaged with a diverse group of stakeholders, rallying them to join the Administration’s effort. Statements of support from leaders across academia, civil society, and industry can be found here.

In line with two major themes of the President’s National Cybersecurity Strategy released nearly one year ago, the report released today takes an important step toward shifting the responsibility of cybersecurity away from individuals and small businesses and onto large organizations like technology companies and the Federal Government that are more capable of managing the ever-evolving threat. This work also aligns with and builds upon secure by design programs and research and development efforts from across the Federal Government, including those led by CISA, NSA, FBI, and NIST.

The work on memory safety in the report complements interest from Congress on this topic. This includes the efforts of the U.S. Senate and House Appropriations Committees, who included directive report language requiring a briefing from ONCD on this issue in Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations legislation. Additionally, U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Gary Peters (D-MI) and U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) have highlighted their legislative efforts on memory safety to ONCD.

It's honestly crazy how catchy Patrick-posting is. The other day I accidentally slipped into it during a conversation with my girlfriend, and I had to awkwardly explain why I was calling her a stalker child and telling her to enjoy prison.

Sonicmon (also known as Sonicmon Fire Red) is a Pokémon Fire Red ROM hack that replaces Pokémon with various Sonic characters from the franchise and some fan-made content.

Plot​

The player starts out in Pallet Town and then receives his very own Sonicmon from Professor Oak. The player has an option to choose between: Sonic, a Fighting-type Sonicmon, Silver, a Psychic-type Sonicmon, or Shadow, a Fighting/Dark-type Sonicmon.

Once the player obtains their first Sonicmon, they may set out on an adventure to defeat each gym leader, capture as many unique Sonicmons as they can and try their best to defeat Team Eggman and Doctor Eggman himself and complete the Sonicmon League.

What’s Different From Pokémon FireRed​

Gameplay​

  • New moves have been added
  • Pokemon have been replaced with Sonic characters called Sonicmons.
  • “Catching” tutorial has been removed.
  • Many areas like Viridian Forest and Rock Tunnel have been renamed
  • Some characters, including the starters, are located in other routes to make them accessible in the wild.

Characters​

  • Character evolutionary lines have been changed, with some having their evolution requirement changed as well
  • No Sonicmon requires trading to evolve
  • Character typing may differ completely from the default Pokémon that has been replaced
  • There are 161 Sonicmons that have been discovered. Some are fan creations, others fan favourites.

Graphics​

  • All 151 available Pokémon’s sprites (sans mini-sprites on the Pokémon menu and the overworld sprites) have been changed replaced with Sonic characters. The list of Sonicmons can be found here.

I saw an article that explained that due to the soy consumption in Japan, women don't feel the symptoms of menopause the same way as in the west, and it's not nearly such a big deal.

I have seen a lot of the clip channels that upload null's content are also big juju lovers and I theorize that's where 95 percent of the constant seethe you see from the same accounts on every video come from. Null lives rent free in their heads just as he does juju and vito's heads

I actually had to unsub from one of them because they were being buddy buddy with Vito in the comments of one of their videos

The levels of osteoporosis alone make their menopause insanely worse than that of almost any other race. Their depictions of little old Japanese ladies being hunched down halfway to the ground isn't much of an exaggeration. Their skin deterioration is similarly much more severe, and it's a huge part of the Asian obsession with putting anything on their faces that their pseudoscience has told them will prevent or reverse their wrinkles. These things are only made worse by eating mountains of starch and soy in place of protein and calcium.

If Josh is going to sperg about any nation lacking cheese, it should be Japan, or Asia as a whole.

I am utterly revolted and literally cringe when Null covers trannies. But I am reminded of an article I read long ago about Korean eunuchs living longer than the average Korean throughout the ages.


LONDON (Reuters) - A study of eunuchs in Korea's royal court has found men without testicles live longer.
Researchers looking at the court of the Chosun Dynasty found eunuchs lived to 70 on average, or 14 to 19 years longer than "intact" men of similar socio-economic status.
Three of the 81 eunuchs studied lived to 100 or more, giving the group a centenarian rate some 130 times that in developed nations today.

During the dynasty, which ran from 1392 to 1910, boys in Korea sometimes underwent castration in order to serve as eunuchs and gain access to the privileged life of the palace.
Employed through history as guards or servants in harems across the Middle East and Asia, eunuchs in the Chosun court were allowed to marry and had families through adoption.
Kyung-Jin Min of Inha University and Cheol-Koo Lee of Korea University believe the longevity of the eunuchs was not simply attributable to their privileged lifestyle.

Except for a few eunuchs, most lived outside the palace and spent time inside the palace only when they were on duty," Min told Reuters.
In contrast, the average lifespan of the kings, who spent their whole lives inside the palace, was just 47 years.
Previous studies have shown female mammals generally live longer than males, and one explanation is that testosterone weakens the immune system and can increase the chances of heart disease.

Scientists have also found that castration typically prolongs lifespan in animals but studies on people have been inconclusive.
While data on mentally ill, institutionalized men showed them living longer, the lifespan of castrato singers was not significantly different from their non-castrated counterparts.
The study was published in the journal Current Biology.

It is a similar situation over at China.

Ming Dynasty (i.e. mid 14th century to mid 17th century) eunuchs live 10 years longer than the average male while Qing Dynasty (mid 17th century to early 20th century) eunuchs live 20 years longer than the average male.

The part of the text I highlighted says that castrated beasts live longer than non-castrated ones in general.

So this raises the question why trannies don't live long and want to off themselves compared to the eunuchs of the Far East.

My belief is that hormone replacement therapy is the culprit. It is not only a scam, it is a scam that kills.

It's because back then they didn't have painkillers to massively reduce their pain tolerance, and something like stubbing your toe wasn't akin to the feeling of being stabbed for them.
