The cost being added on is largely due to inflation, which has been 18% over the past 4 years, you braindead nigger. Rise of labor costs in the supply chain plays a significant role. Part of that rise, asides from inflation, is underemployment for crucial vectors like truck drivers and warehouse workers. Grocery stores have a very long supply chain of labor associated with their goods and those extra costs get tacked on each step of the way as wages rise to related to gov’t mandates, underemployment and retaining current workers. And costs at the end of that chain would be even higher if grocers hadn’t already cannibalized their workforce over the past several years, specifically by eliminating cashier jobs in favor of self checkout and by running departments on skeleton crews.
