"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Phonebooking is the superior option because it's the most innocuous and descriptive term. The least slang-esque, easiest to understand, and least likely to be co-opted.

It also makes me think of somebody getting beaten with a phonebook which makes me feel not only happy, but nostalgic.

I will be sad to see doxing as a term go, partly because new accounts and enemies will keep using it causing friction, partly because I don't like being told I can't say a certain word, and mostly because so many random.txts will have to be cut. Maybe its for the best, doxing 8 yr olds is kind of a bad look these days.

OT, but reflecting on the last stream: @Null, would you ever consider doing another silver coin run featuring the foundation logo? I know the previous run was quite an “experience,” largely due to managing the logistics from abroad. However, with your return to the U.S. on the horizon, perhaps it would be a more manageable process this time around?

I was lucky enough to snag a Chris coin at the last minute and will always treasure it as a piece of Farms history. )My only regret is not purchasing the two I originally had in my cart.) A new coin from this run could commemorate a pivotal moment in the Farms’ evolution, marking this significant shift in its direction. I’m confident others share this sentiment, and I’d gladly pay a premium to secure (two of) them.

This is the only way I could bring it up, as my schedule doesn’t align with your live streams. Otherwise, I’d drop it in a super chat.

Thanks for considering it!

Atlas is usually depicted like this, which is what came to mind seeing the new logo thing. Not sure if intentional?

Anyway nice show.

How about “Google”. As in, “those hateful kiwifarmers have Googled me” or “I have Googled him and here is what I found”.

Nobody wants Googling to happen to them.
It's such a common and broad term that it may lead to confusion. I do like it though. Hopefully it wouldn't get Jodha sued by Google.

Atlas and Sisyphus are different, with Atlas holding up the world and Sisyphus condemned to push a boulder up a hill. Atlas is a Titan, while Sisyphus was just a human king (who was a real asshole). One is being forced to sit still under load, while the other is being forced to exert lots of pointless effort. The Greeks must have really hated boulders.

Josh was wanting the logo design to show how nearly impossible, yet still doable, pushing a huge boulder up a hill would be, and images of Sisyphus pushing upright and moving forward don't show the struggle as much as him heaving backwards, one inch at a time.

I get all that, I am just pointing out that the imagery of a guy toiling with a big heavy round thing on his shoulders / back is the classical pose of Atlas, as seen on a million statues. As Josh said, Sisyphus is usually depicted pushing the boulder ahead of him.
So I think other people may interpret it as Atlas too. If it matters.

I like googling someone because it also helps to further erode the Google trademark by making it a common phrase. Someone could make a googling website like googlefarms . site and fight Google over it. They are being bent over by the justice system right now, so it could potentially help screw them more.
