I did enjoy watching the SOMA streams but my issues with the game are that the only depth it has is that it takes place at the very bottom of the ocean and all the subjects it deals with are very surface level. Also Simon is an incompetent asshole, he is Canadian Patrick Tomlinson. No, child Catherine, you lied to me. Dumb motherfucker was surprised, like that same thing didn't happen when he was copied into the other suit. Jonathan Ross wanting to kill you for vague reasons that are never explained and the deus ex machina worm were bullshit too but you did get to fist the butthole of destiny at least.

Yeah I agree for the most part. I don't really know how Simon was surprised that, after the first time Catherine "transferred." His consciousness that he wouldn't just be stuck at the bottom of the sea. It's also somewhat comical that Catherine got so frustrated with Simon's inability to understand the concept that she just fucking died.
I was surprised how exactly a meteor rendering the earth uninhabitable was never explained. Certainly many people would die in the initial impact and the aftermath, but it's not like life on earth didn't continue the last few times a giant space rock shit up the place. I Initially presumed that the meteor had some kind of alien organism on it and the tentacle shit throughout the facility was caused by it. But that was later revealed to not be the case. The AI subplot as a whole seemed kind of shoehorned in. Like it existed solely to explain why monsters where running around.

Wau is literally a macguffin to explain why the robot people exist, why the monsters exist, and even the Virtual Reality (Ark).
You can't have moral bullshit like Catherine being some autist who wanted to launch some virtual space station and the comet being an excuse to validate her idea and being someone who started using brainscan people for extra labor behind peoples backs. I'd argue Catherine isn't saving mankind, she's just making a very nice gravestone.
I don't think they ever actually explain why Catherine is aware that she is a computer. They handwave it by saying Wau has been reviving human minds in shit, but that only leaves me with more questions.
