I think it also has a lot to do with modern men being incredibly pornsick. When your main exposure to women is through pornography alone it suddenly makes sense why there are so many dudes who think that all women are sluts and whores who want BBC gangbangs. It's because that's what they watch all day and as we saw in that Liz Dong Gone assistant segment a lot of men are unable to tell that porn is fake and the women in it are not actually enjoying being anally raped and pissed on.
It also explains guys like Dick Masterson who are hardcore misogynists because they are degenerate coomers and the only women he interacts with offline are absolute braindead fameseeking LA whores, which leads him to believe that all women are like that, when it's just that women who are normal know to avoid him and would never ever lower themselves to have a conversation with him. Normal women know to avoid incels and pornsick trannyfaggots so when guys say shit like "all women are whores" they are really just telling on themselves that they are repulsive to normal women and addicted to pornography.

If you buy an unlocked one straight from google (or any other manufacturer) you're roughly as safe as you would be with pretty much any other phone. The main takeaway that I got from that segment was a reinforcement of my belief that carrier locked phones are forever tainted and should be avoided at all costs even if they've supposedly been unlocked and never buy anything from a carrier ever
Carriers are fucking ridiculous in general, something that I was witness to recently was someone I know lost their phone, but because of the way that they lost it AT&T didn't consider it lost and wouldn't even let them just buy a new phone and get a new sim with their old number, they were trying to force them to buy a new phone and add a second line with a new number despite the fact that the old phone is fucking gone forever. To actually get the new phone with the same number they had to go to a different store (because the first one wouldn't help them after they said what happened) and report it stolen. This is without any 'upgrade' shenanigans, the old phone was completely paid for

I'm pretty sure those fantasies are very different from what people think they are. For example, Ayn Rand included a random rape fantasy in The Fountain Head for her self insert character, and even then it was more of a fantasy in the context of the story and not a stressful situation for the character.
