"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

I don't get how he has remorse as he never really mocked the subject of his videos, if anything he made sure to give them a fair interpretation. I remember watching his stream where he watched a college lecture by the Time Cube guy, and some smug kid challenges the guy, he says if you can prove me wrong you can win a hundred dollars, the kids says some dumb shit and says he win, walks up, takes the hundred off the table the Time Cube guy put there and walks off. Fredrick clearly identified that was shitty of the kid, and it really showed how shit liberal atheists science lovers are as they actively abuse people they find beneath them, even those with clear mental issues, and now to repent for his fair coverage of lolcows, he's joining that side.
I imagine he feels bad about bringing more mainstream attention than they were already getting to people like Chris, Phil, or Wings.

About the thing Josh showed, while I agree he'll probably troon out in the future (Owl furries are a special kind of time bomb, see Shammy), the whole thing seems to be just a project by Merryweather (a semi-famous weeby artist) where Fred voices a character, nothing much more drastic.

I’m watching the replay and I’m at the part where Josh said that All-Star was the last big hit before everything went down. Which I agree, even though I was young during that time I still remember All Star playing a lot on the airwaves back then. Also, There was a big music album that dropped on 9/11.

Bro don't forget this Chrstian Nu-Metal masterpiece also dropped on 9/11.

*POWERLEVEL TIME - My mom took me to buy this album and Advance Wars (GBA) after school on 9/11. Much like the Switch remake, the GBA original was also delayed due to world events. Biggest disappointment of the day by far.

I post this here, really interesting stuff from /v/ and it's the kind of thing that should be preserved since most of /v/ is a dumpster fire of porn. I would say it's more unusable than /pol/ or /gif/ at this point.

It basically explains why AAA games are so shitty and have been for a while, and also why you should either stick with indies or good ole' OSRS.

4chan has this thing where it's unusable like 24/7 but every once in a blue moon you read some really interesting post that almost makes it worth it to hang around.
This dude makes a very salient point and while I am one of those spergs who sits through the credits the first time through (give respect to the devs, whether I liked the game or not); he's not wrong about credits taking 30+ minutes anymore. I'm not saying this was the first game to do so, but the first time I remember looking at the clock and asking when the credits will end was Assassin's Creed 4. For a while I thought it was because companies were adding their HR and Payroll people to the credits (yes, they're in there for some fucking reason) as well as all the different translation teams/studios. Okay, tack a couple extra minutes on for your paper pushers and people who helped you do worldwide release stuff. But looking at that list of other dev teams, the only one I recognize is Iron Galaxy; and the only actual games I know they did were Divekick (a fucking joke taken too far) and the 2013 reboot of Killer Instinct. Everything else with the Iron Galaxy name on it have been ports of older games (Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons and Darkstalkers Collections come to mind). I don't know every game dev or their work, so I may be wrong, but I'm gonna say it; Bethesda farmed their game out to second and third-string dev studios.

I’d let a city of homeless people drown if it saved a single dog lol. After living in a big city I can no longer have any compassion for these people. They don’t want help, they want their fix that’s it.

Local tranime enjoyer gets two years for felony copyright infringement stalker child. Enjoy prison.

In May this year we reported on the case of 52-year-old Shinobu Yoshida, from Nagoya, Japan, who in what may be a world first was arrested and charged for violating copyright laws, after uploading gameplay clips and other content. The prosecution was led by the Content Overseas Distribution Agency (CODA), which focuses on copyright protection, and Yoshida has now been found guilty.

Yoshida admitted to the charges at a hearing on August 2, and was sentenced on September 7 at the Sendai District Court in Miyagi Prefecture. That he pled guilty is not surprising given the facts of the case (he said to police "I knew it was illegal as I was doing it"), but the sentence may raise some eyebrows. Yoshida received two years in jail, with a five-year suspended sentence on top, and was fined one million Japanese yen ($6,785 / £5,450). It is the first time someone has been found guilty of copyright violations involving distributing game videos.

That sentence seems extraordinary, but CODA is shedding no tears. "Although he knew he was infringing copyright, he continued to post for financial gain," booms the copyright protection agency in a machine-translated press release, before going on to list the titles infringed upon: Steins;Gate: Hiyoku Renri no Darin, an animation of Steins;Gate, and the animation SPY x FAMILY.

CODA can barely disguise its disdain: "So-called 'fast content' with videos and narration was uploaded to YouTube. All of these are malicious cases of posting videos containing content and endings (spoilers) without permission from the rights holders, gaining a lot of access and unfairly gaining advertising revenue through copyright infringement."
"Fast content" in this context describes a popular video genre in Japan that condenses down a given work, anything from games to TV shows to movies, most often with captions and / or narration that explains things for the viewer. Yoshida's videos would also be considered netabare, its own niche within this genre of videos that show, detail, and explain endings or plot twists.

Coda calls the ruling "a major achievement" and says it's continuing to push this issue with the Japanese government. It really hates spoilers, returning to them at the end of its press release to say spoilers "expose the important core of a work with a narrative nature", and won't someone think of the rights holders?
Don't get me wrong: this guy clearly knew what he was doing was illegal, and he's copped to it. If you break a law, you should be punished. But this sentence puts me in mind of an Alexander Pope line: "who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" Two years in prison is a hell of a stretch and, for an offense like this, feels extraordinarily excessive, and on the verge of cruelty.
Sickening.

The owner of the AtariAge forum has sold out to Atari. Whilst it's only a small nail in the independent forum coffin that globohomo has been doing its best to seal shut for years, it's yet another nail nonetheless.

It's also a stark reminder of how valuable independent forums run by pig-headed autists such as KF and Null respectively are.

Appreciate what we have here, frens.

My own personal theory about why all media / gaming etc has turned to irredeemable shit (though I'm not a gamer and don't watch tv so bare that in mind) is that a lot of the decline in quality can potentially be blamed on diversity hiring. Hollywood is the capital of woke culture and now that the main qualification required in these industries is "be nigger" I think this will inevitably be reflected in their product.

Also fuck Jews.

Anyone in the industry with half a brain don’t work for these mega corporations anymore. They are literally only hiring activists, because that’s the only people who are applying. Rumours have been circulating… That AI is also being used, it might have been happening for a while with the CW network as testing grounds.

Hollywood, legitimately wants to replace everyone with AI. It’s probably coming soon. I’m getting constant AI scam ads what would absolutely fool 80% of the people who saw it. (Because they are retards)

Apparently background actors, and extras, have been CGI, and now, AI for a bit now. Not all and every roll, just the ones you would literally never be able to tell.

My theory is, videogames never had time to grow up, for lack of a better term. Everyone has different theories but this is mine, before the XBOX and Halo, videogames were still things that people didn't talk about openly if they didn't want to be mocked by others. Suddenly Halo hits, videogames are popular, and big business sees that there is money to be made, they elbow their way in, and enact big business changes to get maximum profits. Everything after that is the coin clippers counters keeping up with their retarded business shit. DLC, Micro-transactions, always online; all those horrible fucking decisions designed to milk people for money are for profits; and those profits never seem to make their way back to the developers. While there are plenty of examples I'm sure, one of the dirtiest ones to me was Dead Space getting shelved because DS3 didn't sell enough; and it's not that they didn't turn a profit, they turned a good profit, but it didn't turn the profit the suits wanted. Eventually anyone with a passion for actually making shit moves or or gets forced out, and we're now in the period where ESG and danger hairs are in control. I'm just waiting for it to crash and burn.

The really satanic part of this is that Dead Space, the horror series, was made into a co-op game, with microtransactions to buy ammo. Not only was the horror atmosphere immediately compromised by having your dipshit friend making jokes about the retarded monsters with you, but you can just immediately tell that the publishers were thinking, "More players = more bullets shot = more ammo sold". It's disgusting.
For me it's either Dead Space 3 because of the sheer audacity and retardation to sell ammo in a horror game (FUCKING EA), or the fact that GTA online has probably made Rockstar more money than every single other GTA game put together.

The Dead Space remake released in January, and the only microtransactions were 3 suits skins. Of course it has shit such as transgender bathrooms but it's a great product and gives me hopium for the franchise.

Of course it gives you hope, that's what it's supposed to do, so you part with more of your hard earned money as EA slowly poisons everything around it. Tigers don't change their stripes. Maybe I'm just too cynical but I really cannot forgive these companies anymore when they display such blatant greed and malice. Maybe in ten more years I'll buy the dead space remake's remake.

Literally just building a catalogue of bullshit. Incredible.

I don't, as good as it was, 80% or so of the whole design process was completed in 2009. Sure there are changes and things look better, but overall, the game was made over a decade ago. EA will probably do what most C Suites do, see success, force dumb multi-player shit and other shit no one wants, then eventually shelf it when it fails to live up to unrealistic expectations. I'm not saying the corporate side is never wrong, but they usually are; the one thing I'll never forget is when Bobby Kotick had to come out and tell the Internet that Tim Schaeffer missed every milestone when trying to make Brutal Legend. I don't really care for Schaeffer or his games, but I remember a lot of people treating it like Satan showing up and presenting proof that this Jesus guy really isn't that great with making miracles. Outside of one offs like that, the C Suite is beholden to business and outside pressures like political/social events and what-not; new games will have shitty decisions in them, and pre-existing great games will be rewritten to not be seen as evil... like World of Warcraft replacing sexy pictures of Scarlet Crusade women with shit like bowls of fruit, because that's totally something that needs to be preserved on canvas. While most of the actual creatives have left, even if they were there, they'd be forced to bow to the mob, because as smart as they like to pretend they are, the suits don't understand how to run this shit; it's successful in spite of them.
