It's hypocritical because he did an entire stream positively praising on Alfred's playhouse made by Emily Youcis an animated short where an animated dog get's raped by his toys and an assortment of creatures as symbolic of Emilie's sex abuse and in the end he ends up giving into it and enjoying it. Yet if any anime tries to broach a similar subject it's obviously a disguised fetish or secret troon messaging. I just don't get where Josh gets off of moral fagging every time anime is brought up.

Did you even fucking watch that stream? Youcis was super-mega-raped and had no formal training in animation. Despite being an outside artist, she was able to put together one of the haunting videos I've ever watched. Somehow, she is able to convey what the mental anguish of sexual abuse feels like. The way she screams her microphone, the way the art is insane scribbles, the way the music cuts in and the way characters are sloppily cropped photos of toys. It just does such a good job of torturing your senses until it snaps, and you're finally like, "I get it".
People who have been abused or self-harmed legitimately get PTSD triggers watching Alfred's Playhouse because it is abstract art that slices straight into the psyche. It is an intensely personal creation that deliberately gets in your comfort zone.
Also, it does all this with almost no sexual content. There's one very bizarre segment where the little people from The Secret of NIHM climb in and out of Alfred's butthole, but that's purposeful as well. It's invasive and disgusting, for a reason, and also is an allegory for the skin crawling sensation that abuse victims feel. It's also not drawn well, it's in no way actively 'sexy', it's little scribbles of rat people crawling in and out of a shitty brown asshole. There's no way to derive joy from it. It's vile.
This was all done on fucking Adobe Flash like 15+ years ago, by the way.
Whenever Anime tries to broach a sensitive subject it never feels like a person venting. It's always just fucking stupid, and/or exploitative, and/or manipulative. There's that scene where in Elfen Lied the little kids just beat her dog to death with a baseball bat. It's really sad but at the same time it's just evil for the sake of it. There's no nuance to it, it doesn't relate to some greater human condition. It's just that people = bad, therefore when the sexy naked woman with horns that coincidentally look like cat ears starts murdering everyone, it feels more justified. I'm sure the plot of that show isn't some allegory to the Japanese tortures of Chinese women and children in Manchuria, by the way, because Japanese people are soulless monsters and that would require introspection.
I've brought this up before but the most recent animation I saw was the Fireflies movie, about the firebombings. Even in that, the way they warn about the little girl getting sick is that she has to pee. Out of all illnesses, out of all problems, the Japanese go for little girl pissing. They can't fucking help themselves. They're fucking weird. Japan is a creepy country full of creepy little bug men. They can't make good animations because they're all fucking autistic retards who communicate in a specific over-the-top, clear as fucking day way that every super-literal sperglord can understand. They never dwell, they never restrain, they never leave up to the imagination. That's why anime is so popular with spergs in the west, because Japanese people are all retarded and so the shit they make appeals mostly to retarded people.

Several scenes. I thought it was kinda weird the first time because they showed them peeing together, I chalked it up to cultural differences but it was like a reoccuring thing throughout the movie for some reason. Anime niggers cope for this is "it's to show she has a UTI". If you don't know anything about pervy japs you might believe this.

It's basically my position on Josh and Anime. Yes I've heard his grievances, hell, I even know where he's coming from. Doesn't mean I won't still recommend one that I think is a cut above the rest, even though I know he won't watch it. But I'm also not going to bug him on it too much either, because it's pretty well a fruitless task

I've always thought that Japan leaves too much to the imagination. They write retarded poems like "little pool in spring / the frog contemplates his life / watching ripples spread" and you're supposed to pretend it's loaded with symbolism and meaning like ah yes this relates to the human condition, it speaks to me. Their most well known contribution to written word forms and it's devoted to saying as little as possible while supposedly saying a lot.
The Japanese language is blunt and straightforward, inelegant with too few adjectives and synonyms to precisely convey a complex idea. But culturally they're repressed and can never say what they're thinking. So you end up in the situation where one simple phrase can mean 50 things depending on context, and only someone fluent in both the language and the culture can intuit the meaning. If you've ever looked at anime or game localization, characters say the same phrases constantly, and localization has to determine what was actually meant (or just break up all the repetition). "I'm sorry" might end up as "I apologize," or "please forgive me," or even "oops."
They also often refuse to do proper worldbuilding, and events happen just because they need to happen for the sake of the plot. They're more concerned with getting to emotional pathos than arriving at that point through a logical progression of events. Play any RPG - magic does whatever it needs to in any given moment. The villain is like "if I do this, I'll become a god!" Why? How? How do you actually know this? You'll become actual god, or a weird Shinto understanding of minor deities who can still easily die? (Always the latter, because the party kills them.) Japanese stories are consistently frustrating.

The thing that annoys me is that weebs seem to lack any kind of taste even within their medium, like something being classified as anime somehow gives it inherent quality. It genuinely turns me off from anime because I question the sanity of people who consoom it regularly.

The Game of Thrones has all of that but is heralded (before the last season) as one of the greatest shows put to television. It really does come off as a bias against a piece of media because it comes from a country you don't like.
