People here probably don't get as annoyed by GOT because there's no cultists trying to force you to watch it constantly every week, over and over, despite you saying "no" again and again. The show is known to be completely degenerate and I've never seen anyone try to pretend that it's not. If you want to watch gross anime in your private time, nobody is stopping you dude. The issue starts when you try to make other people watch it and pretend that it's actually hecking wholesome and just deep social commentary.

You should read the books they're pretty great, up until Feast of Crows. I can honestly say they were the best books I ever read, as a scifi/Fantasy enjoyer, better than all the greats (Tolkien, Abnett, Asimov, Clark, Dick, Banks, Abercrombie, etc etc). The tv show always looked kinda shitty to me but that's probably because I read the books before it was a thing and the show just looked cheap in comparison. The books though, they were good, imo (the audiobooks weren't so great, excepting the wider universe stuff - Dunk & Egg etc, I enjoyed those).

Best the avoid the TV show. The first few seasons are OK, they still make stupid changes to the characters and add dumb plot threads that never would've existed but it really goes off the rails leading up to The Red Wedding. The books are fantastic and so fleshed out, maybe someday we'll get Winds of Winter and Brandon Sanderson can finish it up by writing A Dream of Spring. I would say it's dishonest to compare the incest in anime versus A Song of Ice and Fire since it really isn't written to be a positive thing with Cersei and Jamie and nearly every other instance is a reference to "keeping bloodlines pure" and even then that leads to "Targaryen madness" versus the incest in anime normally displayed in a way to be the couple you're supposed to be "shipping".

I used to be an anime fan until I started interacting more with people who exclusively consume it. It's so tiresome, they're really draining to talk to since it's all they want to discuss and then the porn addiction that comes with it is insufferable. I'll occasionally re-watch some old favorites like Full Metal, Erased, or Monster but that's about it. Not much point recommending it to Josh because he's made it clear it isn't for him, which is completely fair imo. I did hope if they ever did pay him to watch one they'd pick something that isn't degenerate and nasty.

Well there is your problem. Anime is just a medium. There are many great black and white movies, but if you interact with those who exclusively watch it then you are going to meet dickheads.
My only claim is like most media when it was made and it's ethos are good indicators of quality, not it belonging to a specific medium. BTW moe anime is the worst genre that if anything has poisoned the entire medium it would be moe more than anything.

I actually quite enjoy the Japanese language by itself. I like that basically every word ends on a vowel. Makes it flow well and it makes it much easier to draw out and yell the words. Chinese sounds like shit and living in the south ruins Spanish because it just sounds like a language for criminals.

Much as I hate to defend anime here, there is something to be said for giving someone something more approachable that conveys the same ideas. If someone watching Psycho Pass introduces them to these concepts and leads them to reading other works exploring similar concepts it's a win.

Supposedly you can get dehubbed from the main launcher for wrongthink by association to anyone whose been dehubbed already but there's no hard proof on SS14. Retard 2 leads the charge on trying to spin these with a long ass reddit textblock (archive). Then there was some sort of internal shenanigans with the gay sex (ERP) server called nyanotransen, some sort of praetorian guard coup like bullshit. The server had 6+ hosts "elected" within 2 weeks by the admin team.
This is what pissed off Retard 1 to make the alt launcher a reality.
