"Mad at the Internet" - a/k/a My Psychotherapy Sessions

The chirp soothes the blavk man, for it reminds him of his childhood where he would play basketball with his friends, where the chirping squeaks of sneakers filled the air.
To the white man, the chirp is maddening. The chirp only means trouble to the white man, for he has no such pleasant childhood memories.

If I need a suit for court or to visit DC as part of my lobbying, should I get a fancy suit or a cheap suit? Can a fancy suit by tailored down to size if I lose weight?

I have no idea how to look honest and trustworthy
As boring as possible. Black or navy blue or grey. For fancy, conservative fancy, something like Patrick Bateman might have worn, white collar with blue-striped shirt, cuffs with cufflinks, suspenders, matching tie, jacket. Maybe a tie clip. Don't look like Saul Goodman. I'm pretty sure in Eastern Europe you can get some fairly cheap duds from an actual tailor that will last you for life.

Anything tailored for your body will look better than anything untailored even if expensive.

Well fitted clothes look better on everyone. Last thing you want is to look ruffled and frumpy. Checking out men's style gurus can help you decide on a look that you like.

I like based black man AskOkey (Youtube/Instagram) personally. Gives solid advice and even has an online bespoke clothing store. (Expensive though)

That looks nice, but if you are significantly fatter than the man in the photo, I would recommend a suit that’s designed for big men otherwise it will not look as good. A suit designed for a fat man will make the fat man look like 1 million bucks.

Happy black history month josh! I heard it's time for another person stream. Please don't rush this one, I sometimes rewatch them and the Lowtax one is probably my least favourite, despite having the potential to be one of the best. I remember you saying you rushed it because you knew it would be long and it really shows :/

Does anyone know why the game engine is called Godot? It’s a odd name and the only thing it correlates with, to me, is the Samuel Beckett play “Waiting for Godot” (pronounced God-O), where the titular character of Godot is said to be meeting with the main characters, only to never actually show up.

Sadly, Todd Oldham doesn’t do much in fashion anymore, but his suits that he designed during his heyday were some of the smartest and best suits you could buy. Very classic, very upscale Londoner with touches of historical fashion from the 50’s and 60’s with accents of modernity.

A good suit can certainly be tailored down if you lose weight. It’s not that big of an issue. The tough part is expanding a suit to someone who has gained weight, which can be impossible if the fabric is very niche or difficult to replicate.

Go to a reputable tailor and be frank about what you want, noting that you are trying to lose weight and want a suit that can be tailored down in size in the future. Any worthwhile tailor, even from some of the more “big box” suit warehouses, should be able to give you good recommendations and service.

Based UK IP - you might want to hold your horses on that one. Peter Pan is regarded as the “copyright that will never grow up” because it has been granted copyright in perpetuity to the Great Ormond Street Hospital. It was gifted by the author of Peter Pan, JM Barrie, and upon the encroachment of lapsing into the public domain, UK parliament voted to grant it permanent and everlasting copyright protection.

Based on the link you shared, looks like you prefer medium thin lapels, single breasted suit. Wool is a great material. A few basic tips:

I) Second hand stores can be great to start. You can find amazing suits, sometimes really fancy designer ones, then get them tailored, & have an amazing suit for life. I’d get set up with at least two to three full suits, you can then mix them up for more looks. One suit should be a three piece suit.

II) New or second hand, get it tailored. Tailoring is relatively inexpensive and makes you look fuckin’ sharp whether you’re big, small, or somewhere in between. You can always tailor smaller.

III) Basic colors are good, black, gray, blue.

IV) Plain white Oxford shirts are bomb & go with everything. Get a few, maybe a vertical striped dress shirt too, or a light blue. French cut shirts are extra nice, you’ll need cufflinks for this look though.

V) Always match dress shoes with belt. Have at least two pairs of nice shoes or boots to wear when dressing formal or semi formal.

VI) Learn how to tire a necktie in a knot that suits your facial shape. Half Windsor & Four In Hand knots look fine on most everyone.

VII) Wear suit with confidence & you’ll look good. Dignity goes a long way.

Make sure to get a custom suit.

Don't bother with something off the rack at Nordstroms.or whatever. Not worth it imo.

So many men in suits look like they are drowning in their fathers' clothes. Or the pants legs are too short, and it looks like they accidentally dried it in the dryer on high heat.

Don't be one of those guys. Get a custom suit.

P.S. yes you can have it taken in if you lose some weight. if you lose more than 30 to 40 lb though you'll need to get a new one, but that's cause to celebrate.

Go to Indochino (or other similar or perhaps better store) when you get back to the states (or do it entirely online). If youre okay with the process taking 2 to 3 weeks start to finish, that's the way to go.

Custom suits are not all that expensive these days and they make an enormous difference in how you look.

It's literally a night and day thing.

Anyway, Indochino is both an online and brick and mortar store you can find in any major US city that usually does custom suits for weddings, but they have a good selection of materials you can customize (pants and jacket fabrics, patterns, and color, jacket liner, pockets, styles etc). Everything is made to order for your measurements. At Indochino expect to spend about $600 to $700 minimum but it's definitely worth every penny imo.

You show up at Indochino, you go in and look through the store and pick some stuff you like off the rack or from their catalog / fabric samples. They usually have decent staff that will walk you through it start to finish. (What jacket goes with what pants, different suit styles, what kind of buttons, fake or real pockets, all that crazy stuff). You can customize it pretty extensively.

You can even do the entire process online and take your own measurements, but I assume it works better if you let their tailors do the measuring. But if you wanted, I think you could do the entire process online.

Anyway so once you pick out your combination of dress shirt, suit jacket, and suit pants, they'll take all your measurements, and you order it as a set, and in a few days ( or a week or two depending) it arrives at the store, and you go try it on. Assuming it mostly fits, and you like it, the tailor you've been working with will take the last set of measurements and will pin the suit on you to make it perfect. Then they'll send it off for the final set of alterations based on the pins.

They ship it out DHL and you'll look like a million bucks.

I can in fact answer the question what sort of person watches Iron Mouse. I was at the gas station once. And standing in front of me was a fat woman with bright pink hair wearing a Iron Mouse hoodie. She was accompanied by a skinny fat man with a rat face. They bought nothing but candy. I saw them leave in a car plastered in anime stickers. I hope this helps.

You can never go wrong with navy blue, but I would recommend getting measured and trying on suits in a store. Even a thrift store. You want a suit that complements the width of both your shoulders and your face. You have an average length neck, so I don't think you would need a particular style* of collar on your dress shirt, but you might find that certain lapel shapes just don't look good on you.
*Usually a long or thin neck looks better in a tall collar, while a short neck or double chin looks better in a short collar.

Here is my time to shine:
On the stream you mentioned some interest in making a tarot deck. In a traditional Rider Waite tarot deck you need to have 22 Major Arcana cards, and four suits of 13 Minor Arcana. That's 74 cards that you would need to commission.
I would push you to maybe try an Oracle deck instead. Oracle decks have almost no restrictions on amount of cards or grouping of card themes. The only 'rule' I've seen is that you need an amount that is able to be shuffled, so around 20-30 cards. This is more freeing, and also more manageable for the artist you commission.

The White man hates birds so much that he made a movie about it.
