I've been thinking it over and I think I got a new hot take on the pitbull question (PBQ. Delicious!)
Some people wonder "why do people love pitbulls so damn much and want to have them when they're such fucking nightmares?" the answer is actually quite simple, and quite sad:
Pitbulls are the most likely breed to be abandoned, and adoption shelters are full of them.

There's something about rescuing a dog from certain death and poverty that makes you connected to it even stronger.
That said, they
are a more aggressive breed, high energy, need more stimulation than others, and are stronger so they can cause more damage. You have to be very responsible to own one and understand they, like any other dog, have the power to fuck shit up and kill things. Except they're even better at it because they're stronger. You need to protect it and other people by being a good owner, and if you aren't, people will get fucked up and die.
"It's not the breed, it's the owner" is a gross oversimplification of the problem, it's both. A good owner needs to understand the breed and be responsible with it. They can be good dogs, live their whole lives without hurting anyone, and be great companions, but they need a competent owner to make that happen.
So that's why we need to repeal the 14th Amendment.
