Everyone knew the consequences of stepping out of line back then in proper white society. To think they went from that to Adolescence in the span of 50 years is mind boggling. Both are works of fiction to reflect on modern society at the time, but the way they handle things now is more revolting than it was back then, and with much much worse results.

Juvie here in the States is also really bad. Like arguably worse than real prison because only the worst kids go to Juvie.

Just to clarify, long vowels in Latin don't work the same as long vowels in English.

The Slavic name is pronounced "vee-TALL-ee", while the Latin word is pronounced "weee-TALL-ees" just in case anyone got any weird ideas that 'I' is ever pronounced "aye" in Latin (that sound is represented by  ae).

Yes, classical Latin phonology is quite a bit different than English, which has undergone some serious vowel shifts (not to mention having a come from the Germanic language group). Generally, the long vowels, especially in stressed positions, are preserved pretty well in modern Romance. If I understand correctly, Vitaly is stressed on the penult, which leads to some ambiguity as to whether it's a long vowel or short (hence, a pronunciation where the i takes the sound as in 'bit').

What's really interesting is where short vowels in stressed positions morph into diphthongs in modern languages. Spanish does this a lot.

Since dvorak is presumably talking to many of us, the verb should be in the plural imperative mood:

But when I have the urge to write "notate bene" preceding similar comments of mine I don't because it looks like I am trying to half-ass my Latin use and am using the English "notate" instead.

Edit: Null, the font you use for this site renders vowels with macrons weird, fyi (only inconveniencing a serious minority of the users lol)

I am having trouble understanding the question. If the video is online on jewtube, maybe you mean yt-dlp, the command prompt needs proper syntax to download audio. Try searching the thread for 'dlp' and maybe you'll get lucky. I see some posts, but they don't seem to be audio related.

If using yt dlp, dont search the thread. They have an extensive documentation that you can follow. If using newpipe/pipepipe, under the download option it gives you an audio only selection.

It's nota bene in English for whatever reason, even though it's interpreted as meaning "note well," an imperative in English.

Unironically great movie for anyone who hasn't seen it. It's pretty fucking brutal and besides that they say "black bastard" like 200 times during the movie.

On the topic of the proper pronunciation of Roblox.
They had already met the problem before in history and found a solution:

The diacritic on the O explains the pronunciation.
However, around the same time they were sucking the soul out of the game, they sucked the soul out of the logo.
No one can be blamed for saying it wrong now. It reminds me of a strawberry going from green to pink to red then shriveling up and turning black and rotten.
