Forget tying up loose ends. GRRM could say that there are another 6 books and he is still screwed. He has way too many POV characters that it is impossible to keep them all straight with a cohesive narrative. That's part of Dungeon Crawler Carl's charm, it was amazon self-published in 2020, but found success, 6 six sequels and got a real publisher. Apparently Seth McFarlane of Family Guy is turning it into a TV series or movie, not sure which. It's part Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, part Jupiter Ascending.

This I don't get. George himself is an actual Boomer Hippie who almost exclusively had relationships with feminists over his life. Another way he could do it, is to now that he has deconstructed the fantasy genre is to reconstruct it again by playing onto the tropes, with Jon Thrones becoming the archetypical hero that unites the people to fight the undisputed evil (the frost zombies)

I think berserk, another edgy fantasy with a similar vibe, was going to do something like this (before the guy shat the bed and fucking died), with the pre eclipse part being about the gritty realism of the middle ages (and loads of rape because japanese) with the bad guy winning to the fantasia part with guts becoming more of a typical hero that will kill the evil doer and save the princess, in both cases would make sense to go this route since magic is returning to the world so of course the story would take a more fantastic and traditional approach after all the horrible shit they went through and in a way making these tropes more meaningful and why they are a thing in the first place, it brings us hope and all of that gay shit.

However he definetely wouldnt do this because he hates playing on tropes (and even if he does that, it just means more books to develop all this that he would never write) and any other ending will just be too predictable for his tastes be it trad hero or zombies winning.

It's too long to send as a superchat, or to have you review live, but maybe you'll be interested in it. never saw the shows, read the book until like book 10. it felt like he ran out of ideas after a while because he wanted to arbitrarily get to book 13 for the memes, and the books kept getting longer and longer. i looked up the synopsis at some point and apparently there's weird implied rape towards the end. felt kind of inappropriate for a kid's series.

What the fuck? I just reread them a few years ago and there is for sure no implied rape. In the last one Olaf disguises himself as a pregnant woman to get on the island but that's it. I think tumblrites like to say he wanted to rape the girl after the theater marriage in the first book but that's tumblr cope. The whole thing is about child abuse so yeah... not very appropriate anyway.

Really good books but yes they did drag on a bit for no reason. The breakneck pace was the selling point.

My man if women want to read about how a thirteen year old girl is sold as a sex slave and raped and impregnated by a barbarian horse lord then I don't think there's an actual sniff test, and that was in the very first one. The one that's actually the hardest to push into publishing is always the first, especially if you're an unknown writer, which he wasn't then because he'd been writing in magazines and short compilations for years.
Publishing isn't the issue, he's a celebrity now and anything he wants to publish, will be published. This issue is that he's a lazy fat sack of crap that would rather be fat and blogpost whining about how people call him fat, than continue the story.
