I saw a few when I was on a nighttime walk like a week or so ago. What bothers the fuck out of me is how this year's supposed to be one of those "periodical cicada years" and I haven't heard any fucking cicadas the entirety of june. No fucking katydids either at night. Just dead ass silence during the day and night with maybe some birds and mosquitos that make no fucking noise. weird shit. Really adds to the surreal "extreme stagnant hell year" feeling of this year for me.

I don’t know where you are at but it only was that last year for cicadas here, but it was two groups overlapping. Cicadas this year have come out in the past week or two, which is normal in these parts. While they aren’t as bad as last years were the cicada killer wasps were all over at the start of the season.

Cicadas this year have come out in the past week or two, which is normal in these parts. While they aren’t as bad as last years were the cicada killer wasps were all over at the start of the season.

I haven't even seen any cicada killers or really that many wasps this year.I have seen those fat fucking bees though.

I was noticing over the last couple week that I have seen very few insects this year. I don't think I've seen any lightening bugs and I live right next to a creek. Somehow this is probably Joe Biden's fault.

I remember back in the original non-enshittified Lilo and stitch it was a running gag that the reason aliens left us the fuck alone was because the CIA psyopped them into thinking mosquitos were some extremely unique and endangered lifeform. Clearly other people have asked this fucking question enough that shit like this exists.

I've seen a shit ton of fireflies at night this year, they're always lighting up the road (...and my car) at night. Definitely haven't heard any cicadas though. One thing I noticed is that SLF were problematic in my area the past few years- I have not seen a single one this year: no eggs, nymphs, or adults.
