You know. I saw you said you aren't a Sam Hyde fan. I'm wondering why you are in this thread trying to defend his honor. Obviously me and probably everyone else is thinking ,you're lying and you are a Sam Hyde fan. And you can help but cope about how your oshi didn't have a choice, but act like a dumb gorilla nigger. But idk I wonder if there is any other reason someone would try arguing. That claims they aren't a Sam Hyde fan, and thinks they know what Sam Hyde's audience wants.
Maybe I haven't been making it very obvious, but the reason why this was a no-win scenario for Sam is because the criticism that he is a bad comedian is accurate, and the criticism that he is a big dumb wigger is accurate. Step outside of the scenario where it's a big dumb guy that you hate being heckled by someone that you like, and imagine it's Gator showing up on stage with Null, and then Null says to him "goo goo gah gah you stinky, take a shower you stinky". How could Gator, known for his charisma and his wit, react to this sudden and unexpected insult to his entire brand? The best he could possibly do is say "Oh, I don't watch Kouseki Bijou doing those videos because it's cringe". This is the scenario with Harland pulling out the cunnilingus joke, the best way Sam could have responded was to acknowledge "yea that was a bad joke". Imagine it's Ethan Ralph on stage with James Metokur, and Jim starts shaking a bottle of pills, the best Ralph could possibly do is play along with the joke and act like he isn't offended, but he's still going to have a bruised ego. That is the scenario with Harland asking Sam to build a gorilla nest. What I am disagreeing with people on is not that Sam made an ass out of himself, what I'm disagreeing with is that Harland is actually a super comedian that beat Sam because he's better at being mean. Harland won because he knew how to insult Sam in a way that would actually offend him, and he knew Sam would not be willing to humiliate himself by agreeing to be mocked.

I don't know man, Sam could have easily won that one by playing along and saying "You see, I learned that you want to make it like a wet yogurt." Trying it back to the trailer and not actually using his mouth like the people did in his skit, but acting like he's doing an instructional video while point to the salmon in different spots with his finger. Maybe that's not the best response but it's better than what he had, and I'm sure someone could have figured out an even better option on the spot.

I agree on you with this, Sam really showed he had a fragile ego in this one and that he's bad at improve.

Josh engaging in “show prep”

I finally got the chance to fully watch through the latest episode and some of the comments on the video were claiming Josh really just wanted to shit on Sam from the "Christmas example" incident and I have to say that is some of the hardest copes I've seen lately because I remember the stream after their short conversation, Josh backed off and reiterated he isnt trying to crucify Sam over it.

You cannot win a contest of "did you tell a bad joke" by repeating the joke and insisting that it's actually funny.

I don't see why you think I need to if my position is that memes are not inherently valuable and are just potentially solipsistic reflections of what is. What do you think is contested here?
You can just ignore it I guess, that's your prerogative. But the ideas will still persist regardless of your opinion. It's sort of like inbreeders ignoring the possibility of genetic defects because they don't believe in genes.

I hate this stupid oily rat so much.

Isn't this dude married?
The over-hyping of the anime filter grok never stops being odd to me, every clip I see of it the TTS voice is kinda normal TTS monotone whispery shit and most I've seen it do is just agreeing with whatever it gets said and repeating it back in different wordings. The only time I've seen it do anything remotely close to good/funny chatbot stuff was that ethan ralph clip where he keeps going "YERRR TALK ABOUT YER PUSSY" and the bot just keeps trailing off about the shadow government. Like if you're gonna interact with a chatbot it should always have the CHATTING aspect to it. It's a CHATbot, not "repeat your shit with different words"bot. Cleverbot was better than this shit and that was over a decade nearing 2 now. There was also the one that was built into windows that predates cleverbot I think? Not clippy, fuck that bastard.

EDIT: Context for how smooth TTS voices can get on other chatbots with TTS vocals out there.
The ethan ralph clip in particular reminded me of the time this one I generated a TTS for a bot using my own voice clip (that came out not sounding like me at all and instead sounded like an obnoxious anime voice when generated but that's another story)

The stuff is edited to cut out the dead air between me typing messages to the chatbot, but the random fucking deep TV voiceover narrator voice still fucking kills me months after the fact.

As you can see though, the little simulated breaths and pauses between sentences is a LOT more of a high quality thing than the fucking whisper voice grok's got. If you're gonna do a monotone voice for a chatbot it better be fucking microsoft SAM or something, not whatever the fuck this ani shit is.

Anyways long story short my standards for what's a "good chatbot" are low as shit and this thing doesn't meet them. I have not seen anything remotely close to shit I've experienced messing with various chatbots online the last 2 decades. Chatbots are also never a good replacement for human interaction, even in an online text only format, but that's fucking obvious.

Probably could have brought this up elsewhere, but Grok's been brought up enough times in this thread and the streams the thread is about that I think it works here too.

Listening to the recent show, great stuff, thanks for the show. I have to disagree about the Sam Hyde bit, I think he is obviously doing a pre-arranged bit with Harland to engagement farm for both their podcasts and for attention to his new MDE show (whatever it's called).

Admittedly, I'm not the biggest Sam Hyde fan and I don't follow everything he does in extreme minutiae but I have noticed a pattern in his last however many podcasts that I've thrown on for background noise at work - the videos will have titles like "crashes out" or "loses it" (when nothing at all of note is honestly happening and they are quite boring, interspersed with trivial bits of comedy or minor arguments) and I can only assume this is because the YouTube algorithm promotes videos with titles like that to more people. I am a lot more familiar with Harland and I have seen him on many comedy podcasts i have watched for years, he is normally a lot more animated when he is off the cuff and he has a penchant for doing pre-staged bits with other comedians. He is a really nice guy, and obviously I could be completely misreading the situation because I feel like Sam Hyde is kind of socially awkward but paradoxically very calculating in his interactions.

The biggest deadweight in these podcast appearances is Charls and the flip guy who is about as funny as a funeral. If you like weird shit, I particularly recommend watching that Bradley Martin/Martyn(?) interview where he brings Mayhem Miller (former UFC fighter host of MTV's Bully Beatdown from the early 2000s, associate of Adam Carolla - which is another tie to Harland Williams) on and he is just out of his mind with head trauma and dunking on Sam the entire time which you can see visibly irritates him lol

Obviously, I'd be open to being proven wrong, I don't watch tons of Sam Hyde's stuff, personally I have always thought that Nick Rochefort is the better comedian and writer from their group.

I'd agree if Harland didn't specifically edit out all of the MDE sponsorship bits out, not to mention Nick saying they're good for all the damage Sam had done.

I can believe it, Sam is a weird guy. Very inscrutable and hard to read. I've never really understood his deal, like a lot of these post-irony comedians, they just seem like very strange people.
