Usually only gaming sites do this, I want to say MMO Champion or Wowhead? But besides pop-ups they had dedicated page space for ads and essentially filled in that background with "you're adblocking, we know you're being bad rn, you should go premium, unblock, or else!" then lay the ads over that. So you should never see it, unless you ran an ad blocker.

It's kind of a clever way to address it from their point of view, and worth understanding the low tech, turnkey design around it. Like with any magic trick or illusion, knowing how it works helps dispel the effect it has on you.

Javascript popups are the worst thing to happen to the internet after Captcha, not counting more serious things like censorship. I still can't get over how annoying they are and blocking them is getting more and more complicated.

Because I can actually see a woman leave her shopping cart in the middle of an aisle and I can yell at her, right then and there, about how she's a fucking problem and see her running risk assessment in her head in real-time on whether or not Karen'ing out is safe or it's time to retreat.

When you phonebook a payment processor CEO or executive and show me what they look like and where I can go outside of their mansions to complain about how their driver parks their limo or how they clog up lines at a theme park I'll be there to yell at them and make them feel uncomfortable too.

Nothing will ever come of this because conservatards are braindead. The libtards noticed a long time ago that you can harass payment processors into blacklisting people by calling them out on Twitter and getting your libtard friends to join you in sending angry emails. They literally do this openly and without shame. Conservatards never fucking connect the dots and realize that maybe they can do something about this (some of these guys are followed by the president or the VP themselves.) They just blame whatever the abstract boogeyman of the week is and do nothing. It's maddening.

GiveSendGo's success effectively covered the immediate costs for 2 years, and a chunk of that money & development time went into the recent hardware upgrades instead. He's still working on it but it's less of a priority atm. Gilded border is working but I am jonesin' for those 24 hr highlights

This isn't a left/right shuffle game. By focusing solely on "conservatives and liberals" team sports dichotomy shit you miss the constant push from both sides for mass censorship in the same result but with different wordings. the "right" has used the same fucking tactics of mass reporting and trying to blacklist people or media. To quote that one nubly guy's schizo comic: We're the dogs, and they're fucking us.

Watchting the stream Mad at the Archive just uploaded (oct 1, 2021) and josh mentioned the fediverse and i noticed that I hadn't thought about kiwifarms.cc for a year or 2.
It really feels like the fediverse was a fad that died out or something, which really sucks. I would be really excited if kw.cc made a comeback after all this time

It is still around and Crunklord still uses it. I am committed to bringing it back because Elon is a retard and BlueSky is the gayest thing ever.

Still around as in, anyone can use it? does it have a different domain than the one i remember, because i just went to kiwifarms.cc which appears to be a phishing scam posing as a polish dentist

The Fediverse was a virtue signal by extreme leftists (leftists still like to pretend that they support the kind of free speech that Null supports because they know their ideas can only be justified under a framework in which they are not the darlings of the moneyed power) that died when Kiwifarms and Gab (for a day before they decided federation was gay) nazis and Spinster terfs joined, because it split into two ecosystems: the walled garden of Mastodon which blocked Kiwifarms friendly instances, and the rest which didn't do any political blocks. Also the fediverse has a big problem with illegal pornography and it's a bad idea to go there unless you have a good idea how to not see any of that.

From what I saw skimming it it's another one of the vtuber "companies" (glorified streamer networks under different name) collapsing again due to weird shit going on in the management.

I looked at it, I assume it's the Vshojo thing that got posted in here earlier (GRIDS girl) and then some random streamer getting married and ensuing sperging. Not really interesting.

Vshojo is imploding and has probably stolen upwards of a million dollars from its actors. Its 2 biggest actors are leaving. The CEO of the JP branch is about to commit seppuku and claims no responsibility, saying the JP branch was totally independent. US main org was ran by a mexican and a jew.
