Reminds me how you can see a clear division in when somebody started using the Internet by if they say "PM" or "DM".
I found the abbreviation "DM" when referring to messages to be really confusing when it starting gaining traction: I was playing a lot of first-person shooters at the time, so I kept thinking to myself - "what does deathmatch have to do with absolutely anything in this conversation?"

Over the last few months. Or idk since Trump got elected maybe. Asmongold has become more "based". Really he's just a bit more conservative leaning now. But still find his videos just as repulsive as ever.

He has a talent for giving the most nothing reaction possible to whatever he is watching. I can't understand who this stuff appeals to. Do people really need to watch someone tell them "that's true" to some obviously true statement? Idk it's just mindless bullshit content.
Look at the nigger title of that video.

In Asmongold's defense, he isn't the guy running the youtube channel. It's one of his editors, and said editor uploads the clips while Asmongold is still live and apparently has pretty much free rein when it comes to things like video titles and thumbnails.

Yeah I want the one that handles wires. I don't give a shit about design.
It is hard but honest work. You will be tired at the end of the day. Your arms will become muscular. You will enjoy a great sense of accomplishment when a job is completed and things work as if by magic, providing all the necessities of modern life.

An EE degree (which I have) gives you almost none of the knowledge needed to wire OR DESIGN installations for houses and other buildings (which I have done a lot of).
The wiring regulations are pretty esoteric and although the same physics of electricity are at play, the codes and practices have been developed over a hundred years of trial and error on what is practical and safe to actually do. You have to follow those. It’s not hard, but there’s a lot to know.

Have a look at the tunnel troon’s adventures with mining. That’s a good example of a reasonably intelligent individual with no formal training getting the books out and designing and then building an electrical system for his mine - which is a whole other level of strange rules to follow. If the tunnel troon can do it, Null can do it better imo.

There are good electricians to follow on YouTube to get a taste of what it’s like. I think in the US the biggest problem doing it as a business will be dealing with American customers, rather than any technical or physical difficulty.

Does ElectroBOOM count? First thing that comes to mind.
He counts, you can definitely learn from his channel, and it’s good to know how things are done differently in other countries to get a feel for how safety is provided.

I think the sweet spot if you are a 1 employee company is doing small modifications and add-ons (such as new outlets, EV chargers and what have you) and fault finding for existing homes or small businesses. It’s always interesting to see a new place and do some detective work to find a weird fault.

Working on a building site dragging wires through walls is best avoided unless you have to do some of it for experience. So is working in factories as the extra layers of bullshit are not worth the effort.

Josh, if Ethan Klein gave you control of the reddit.com domain, would you have it redirect to the farms?
If not, what would you do?

DLSite, a Japanese manga/porn storefront, has announced they are trying to start their own payment system to evade Visa/Mastercard's stranglehold.

The article's in Japanese: https://news.denfaminicogamer.jp/news/2510062e (archive)

Here's a Google-translated link: https://news-denfaminicogamer-jp.tr...l=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp

DLsite has launched a new payment method, "Minna no Bank Payment," as an alternative to credit cards. This is an instant payment service directly linked to your account, and can be used by linking your smartphone-based digital bank account with your "Vivion ID."

Ascii Corporation, which operates the comprehensive 2D download sales site "DLsite", and its parent company, ViviON Co., Ltd., began offering a new payment method for the service, "Minna no Bank Payment", on October 6th.

"Minna no Bank Payment" is an instant payment service that is directly linked to your account, and can be used by linking your "viviON ID" with your digital bank account "Minna no Bank."

Minna no Bank is a smartphone-based digital bank (smartphone bank). Everything from payments to transfers, deposits and withdrawals, and savings can be managed through the app, and an account can be opened in as little as five minutes.

To celebrate the launch of the service, a special campaign is also being held. If you open a new ViviON branch account at Minna no Bank, you will receive 500 yen in cash.

Additionally, DLsite will give away a 90% off coupon (up to 1,000 yen) that can be used on the service to users who link their ViviON account with their "Minna no Bank Account" for the first time. If you actually make a payment using "Minna no Bank Payment," you will receive another 90% off coupon. This campaign will run until January 30, 2026.

Furthermore, during the period until March 31, 2026, if you use "Minna no Bank Payment" on DLsite, you will receive a total of 5% ViviON points back, an additional 3% on top of the usual 2% back.

ViviON Co., Ltd. cites the growing proportion of cashless payments due to the expansion of the online payment market as the reason for opening the "Minna no Bank ViviON Branch."

In order to enable users to make payments more easily and safely amid this market expansion, Minna no Bank, which shares the same purpose and philosophy, has decided to collaborate with ViviON Co., Ltd. and its parent company, GEO Group.

"Minna no Ginko Payment" will continue to gradually expand the range of services covered, creating an environment where it can be used throughout the ViviON Group.

ViviON has opened a partner branch in collaboration with Minna no Bank. Payments for group services are now more convenient and affordable!

Most likely this will never be seen outside of Japan. Visa/Mastercard will suppress it like they did JCB, and Minna no Bank is only open to Japanese citizens. But I thought it was relevant for reasons.

Worth repeating that every bank in Europe lets you do free, nearly instant transfers to any other bank, from the comfort of a phone app. Whether it’s person to person or person to business.

It’s not a super slick one click payment though so hasn’t really displaced Stripe / Visa for online shopping.

I got a message this month from my bank saying they added a Romania specific bank to bank no cost transfer on top of the EU bank to bank no cost transfer.

It's bad, but a lot of the searching happens by keywords and hashtags added in by the editors rather than by title. It's an ugly but functional system
