Someone, who is very angry and/or autistic and/or a paedophile, has twice attempted to post a virus on this site and even send me a virus via email. So far, I've not heard anyone has actually be compromised by this.
It seems like everyone is already exercising a high level of caution and awareness regarding attachments and people eager to have you download them (which is nothing short of fucking shocking) but please continue to do so. If someone is claiming to have exclusive kwality kahntent, some sort of super cool executable you should totally be running, and especially if they are sending you unsolicited PMs encouraging you to download something, they are definitely fucking about.
I've had user registrations on admin approval for a while but there's nothing out of the ordinary about these accounts because they're just regular people making regular forum accounts for this purpose.
And before people ask the inevitable dumb fucking questions like "does this affect me if i don't download anything or do anything besides read threads", no. Just don't run random executables or docx files.
I've also noticed they like to use password protected archive files (like the ZIP format). This password makes the archive unreadable by anti-virus programs, so especially if the requirement to access the downloaded content involves a ZIP password, don't do it.
Remember, autism is a highly contagious disease only preventable through safe Internet usage and Alex Jones water filters. Only you can prevent sperg fires.
Update: The tactic is actually that the malware distributor is uploading his own obvious viruses and then reporting them to malware companies himself to have the site quarantined.
If you see a suss thread with an attachment, report it immediately, don't shitpost as a reply or I'll neck you. Feel free to text/call (757) 932-5494 if it's not deleted immediately.
