I thought Tyga would be more financially successful considering her last hit was like late 90s? Who knows though. She was engaged to that rock singer fella who was clearly very much in love with her to the point of acting cringe but he seemed like a nice guy. Can't believe she dumped him for Tyga, I know sometimes heart wants what it wants but I wouldn't date a dude who's dick was inside Blac Chyna.

Avril also sold a ton of albums in the pre-streaming era when you could actually earn money from it. Tyga won't have earnt anywhere near what Avril earnt at her peak, even if he's probably marginally more relevant these days.

I notice post 35 year old women like to encourage pregnancy rumors, they get paranoid about their age and fertility so pregnancy rumors equate them with young and fertile. It’s why you have 48 year old women who buy eggs and sperm for IVF to get pregnant trying to pretend it’s totally natural! Avril still has a viable career. Her latest album from 2022 debuted in the top ten on various music charts and, as seen above, was nominated for two Juno awards (Canada's Grammys, essentially). She didn't win those but she did get the TikTok fan choice Juno award. Other than that skater one I wouldn't recognize an Avril Lavigne song if I heard it but I assume someone's listening to her, so she's earning money.

Avril Lavigne is a naturally gifted singer. She was scouted as a teen, whilst singing songs in a bookstore. She didn't even really need that much training, just an image change. She was primarily singing Shania Twain at the time. Which is why early on in her career she was called a faker. Because when questioned in interviews she didn't actually know anything about the genre she was now singing in. Because it was all organized by the company that scouted her.
It would only be years later she took an interest herself in pop punk, probably driven by her permanent touring bandmates, who also taught her guitar.

Doesn't, like, half of Avril's money come from Japan at this point? For some reason they still love her and she appears on Japanese TV sometimes. I think she even did some Japan-only releases like 4 years ago.

Correct. It's funny when people think that because an artist is no longer at their youthful peak, they're irrelevant and over.
As a previous poster mentioned, Avril's peak was in the noughties when people still actually bought music, and she is credited as a songwriter for all her songs on all her albums except her fourth. She would have made a fortune, and there's no evidence that she has the type of lifestyle that makes her reckless with money. She's still capable of keeping her earnings topped up with her ongoing career, especially with touring, appearances and brand deals.
Even when she retires from actively making music, she will always be capable of earning money as a legacy artist.
Obviously, this coal burning - whether a conscious attempt or not - will get her a lot more media attention, especially if (as she is in her late 30's now) she pops out a baby.

I don't know, I think she's really calmed down in the past few years.
Motherhood can make a party girl get her shit together, Snooki from Jersey Shore and Nicole Ritchie are two famous examples I can think of. But I've known a few women in my life that stopped the party shit the second they saw that blue line.
I hope Lindsey does the same thing. And keeps her horrible parents away from the baby.
