Not paying artists working for her.
What could possibly go wrong?

She really should hire some good PR at this point.
Oh wait, she can't; she'd have to pay them.

Madonna can kindly go fuck herself. Just shows how removed she is from any reality.

She really looks like a mix of a Kardashian, doesn't matter which one, and on the photo in the bed a bit like young Sharon Stone.

Her remaining dumbass fans love to bring up the claim that she is allowed to live her sexuality without shame. I like to argue, that she is forcefully trying to act like the hot 30 year old, that has nothing to do with shaming an old woman for her erotic feelings. Madonna is the Postergirl for a sick obsession with youth and rejection of age. When you are 60 you have different priorities than with 30. It's a simple fact of life. And that's all the more preferable than mutating into a complete freakshow.

Because Marlene Dietrich was brought up, I would like to add that Marlene tried for a time as well to conserve her youth. For example she strapped herself into rubber suits to form her aging body into more youthful shapes. That shit restricted her movements and was uncomfortable as hell. After she broke her hip on stage, she called it quits, because she recognised that she couldn't keep up the facade.

Removing herself completely from any contact to the outside world and just existing in her increasingly rundown apartment in Paris is a very extreme strategy tho.

I love to look at Isabella Rossellini. She has her farm, made recently her PHD in zoology, is still active as an actress (her Green Porn Series for example is awesome) and a model. And if she had cosmetic surgery it was very minor. Her Instagram is very sweet and wholesome, and not a freakish live drama of a former diva desperately clinging to her youth.

I wonder if Madonna will end like Marlene or Mamie van Doren, another tragic case of can't let go of her youth. Later years Mae West is also such an example.

At a certain point, these ladies start to look like they're waiting for their own funeral. They can't all have the anti-aging genes of Bernadette Peters, but it's better to look old than to look like a melting mannequin.

She really should have gone the Marlene Dietrich route. Would have been a novelty and the mystery of it would have gotten her more press attention than ravenously pursuing every ounce of attention she can scrounge by acting the fool.
You mean withdrawing from the public eye? I think that was Greta "I want to be alone" Garbo. And my God yes, Madonna should have. She could have turned into her own sort of grand old classy dame, coming out of hiding only for big events and cracking bawdy jokes. Too bad.

I loved her Ray of Light Album. I thought she was growing with us or vice versa. Mature. Nice. Great album.

Then something happened and she went balls up thereafter. Was the last album I ever purchased of hers and hadn't googled her since.
Yeah, something snapped after she made ROL. My guess is in the end she couldn't cope with entering middle-age.
When I saw her on the cover of Music I was in disbelief; she looked like an autistic 6-year old birthday kid with that cowgirl outfit. The deadpan stare only sealed the deal.

Jesus H Britney, why on earth did you think kissing this woman 3 years later was a good idea? Bitch probably infected you with the crazy when you pressed lips.

P.S. Why would she get ass shots? She looks like a literal clown desperate to belong in today's contemporary world while never shutting up about how awesome she was 40 years ago.
Why won't her daughters drag her ass away from the camera?

Another pic from the photoshoot...
Question: Will Dorothy get both the ruby stilettos and the butt implants on her way to the Wizard?

Liz Rosenberg kept this brat 100% in line. So did Freddy DeMann, her former hotshot manager. After he bit the dust (for reasons I can't recall) she employed a very young Guy Oseary--who has had some kind of bizarre hold on Madonna for many, many years--and he has been hopeless as a manager, to say the least, and destructive to her career trajectory, to say the most.

Madonna is not very talented and never really has been, but she was extraordinarily hard-working, driven, disciplined, authoritarian, and maybe a quick learner. For decades she had a stellar team that kept her in line, helped rein her in, knew when to dangle the right amount of controversy to the public, and regularly came up with concepts for her image and output, ranging from her wardrobe to the art direction of her live shows. As Christopher said in his memoir, and this is a paraphrase: "You have to let her think she came up with all of the ideas."

With Liz gone, and social media sadly revealing a not-too-bright woman who has issues with spelling/grammar/syntax, we are seeing the ivory-tower-dwelling narcissist she has always been, just older and a little bit more deranged with each year. I am also sticking to my long-held belief (well, a few years anyway) that after she took a nasty tumble from the stage in 2015 and hit her head very hard, she's had some sort of irreversible damage. That, coupled with obvious abuse of opiates and increased alcohol consumption--she is drinking in a great deal of her Insta videos and photos--has resulted in this "Baby Jane" mess.

Those filters and that airbrush tool also deserve a serious raise in pay.

Yes, I did mean Garbo! Being a mysterious woman much talked about, but almost never seen.

Oddly I had thought Marlene Dietrich sort of had a similar reclusive nature in Paris but not at all. Apparently she was still appearing on stage in a cabaret revue into the 1970’s and people loved it. Every photo of her in her 60’s she’s a class act with perfectly tailored clothes and not a hair out of place. Damn. It’s a big reason why she became a gay icon well after her movie star salad days, she won over the young gay boomer audiences on stage.

Dietrich is a study in how to look like a class act in your senior years. It doesn’t involve butt implants or any stripper clothes.

Makes me wonder if old Madge is having cash flow problems. Her well oiled PR machine has been long gone. She’s still touring, which is usually what musicians do to keep solvent.

Obviously Madge is far from dead broke but she seemed to randomly move a lot the last ten years, renting expensive properties. This on top of whatever properties she owns and has to maintain in expensive zip codes. She randomly adopted a bunch of black kids. Eh, she strikes me as the type to plead poverty because her lifestyle costs so much to maintain.

Madonna has been pretty stupid with who she lets into her life and handle stuff. I mean her Malawi charity collapsed because she appointed her trainer’s boyfriend to run it. LMAO. Madonna seems like the type who would get rid of anyone who didn’t tell her what she wants to hear. Surrounding yourself with yes men is always a sure fire path to doom. When she was printing money twenty years ago, no big deal, but now as a “vintage pop star” with dwindling appeal and ability to generate money it’s a much bigger threat.
"Her trainers boyfriend "
Is her trainer still Tracy Anderson? I know she's worked with Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, and heard some sketchy things about her. Check fraud and other stuff.

Philippe van den Bossche was the name of the trainer’s boyfriend who just used the charity to live lavishly and never built any school…and yes Tracey Anderson seems to be the trainer. This was in 2011.

Yes, the 1970s were the last time Marlene was in public. At around that time she removed herself from the public eye and became a recluse in her Paris apartment.

There is an interesting documentary with one of the last interviews with her by fellow actor Maximilian Schell. You just hear her voice. She was in her eighties at that time and completely refused to be filmed. And she was witty, snarky, bitchy and sharp in that documentary.

One of Marlene's remarks was: "I had been photographed to death."

I find it tragic that she felt the need to remove herself so completely from the public to keep her myth alive.

But compared to Madonna's trash fire it might have been less tragic, as it added to her legacy. Maybe better be a recluse than a human freakshow? I don't know.

Why are so many public figures awful at typing in this way?
I don't know--I think it's because they don't read. A lot of.people's literacy and accuracy have plummeted since the advent of social media, but it's especially embarrassing when public/famous figures put it out there for all to mock and cringe at. It's even worse when their PR teams have churned out the image of their clients as intelligent, well-read, high IQ, "was a straight-A student"...and plenty, PLENTY of PR folks have sold this notion to the public, only for it to backfire when their clients climb onto Insta and reveal their idiocy for all to see.

I mean I'd you're focusing on an acting/singing career, academics are likely not going to be something you dedicate a lot of time to. Especially if you're already performing as a teenager. A lot of rockstars are highschool drop-outs. Sure some professional actors/musicians are very well educated, Queen's Brian May is a God damned astrophysicist, but these are definitely outliers.

So much of Madonna's image has been based on shocking consevative types.

Her name upset a lot of folk back in the day who thought it was a stage name mocking religion.
Roll around onstage in a wedding dress? Sacrilige!
White woman makes out with a black man in a church for a video? Scandal!
Wear a business suit and sing about being strong and true to yourself? Family values will suffer!
Kiss a girl onstage? World has now ended and we are all dead. Happy now?

What can she do nowadays to shock people? Even if she thinks of something, it'll only bother about 10 people worldwide. She should have retired ages ago.

That picture where she crawled under the bed and it looked like she farted a hole in her fishnets is somewhat repulsive/shocking. Anyway, there was that photo with the knife the other week, I don't think it was posted here.

It was part of her shitty post about not paying artists, who slept on couches in an ill fated attempt to shill this magazine she made with Steven Klein. All in all people were more upset about her telling the world she didn't pay the artists for their work, despite being a multimillionaire. But she didn't get the funding boohoo, despite being Madonna. What tells that about Your market value, when you try to sell a concept for a magazine, and the respond is: Nah, we pass...

But in all honesty I found the photo of Steven Klein tonguing one of Madonna's heavily photoshopped pictures more upsetting. I might have thrown up a bit in my mouth.

Well, I guess it’s understandable if a major part of your job was an idealized physical image or appearance. Once your 80 do you really want to put on the make-up, girdle, wigs, flashes, etc… fuck that. I think Marlene had the right idea if she was tired of all that shit. However, Betty Davis surely did being an old queeny bitch well and she is remembered as both a young vamp and old viper. Dietrich could have easily done the same if she had wanted.

Actors and pop stars certainly have it the worst since so many have careers based on being beautiful and young. Much easier to be an intellectual (writer, poet, painter, director) where your physical appearance was never important to begin with.

Honestly I think the scandal about the Like a Prayer video (I was a kid and remember my otherwise sweet very tolerant liberal Catholic grandma being disgusted by this) was the fact that it's implied that the black guy is Jesus or at least a saint, which means the video is about Madonna getting frisky with....Jesus, or a Saint. That, and the fact that she mixed heavy Catholic imagery with faith healing, fringe-protestant themes in that video. (This might seem like an overly specific and spergy reach in 2021, but back then we're talking about a Hollywood that would consult with Catholic/prot hierarchy to at least *get things right* when they were going to be sacrilegious about them. It seems quaint now but it was kind of cool, bc that's how you end up with The Exorcist being at least somewhat true to certain rituals and theology- and so truly spooky- instead of just "omg the ghoul-nun has a rosary!! Scary!!" laughable laziness we get now.)

What can she do nowadays to shock people?
Ironically, behaving like a terfy, conservative old grandma would manage to shock quite a good chunk of the population and garner her as much attention as she had back in her heyday.

All she'd need to do is talk shit about trannies.
