It's actually kind of sad that such heavy value was placed on her looks in the 80s/90s that she became terrified of showing any signs of age, even going so far as to permanently hide her hands. A shame she'll likely die looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein instead of accepting her wrinkles with dignity.

You mean it's sad that SHE put such a heavy value on her looks, right? Nobody forced her to be some sex icon or an edgy musician producing raunchy videos. Nobody forced her to not grow out of that either.

Apparently these are post plastic surgery pictures and not a granny abusing all the filters.

Why doesn't she just accept ageing? You are not 25 anymore, you're 63, a granny.
Madonna would have looked MUCH BETTER if she let herself age. She was beautiful when young, natural ageing would have kept her beauty. There are lots of elderly female celebrities who are ageing naturally and still beautiful after their 40s. Plastic surgery industry portrays ageing as something evil and youth is beauty.

Yes, Helen Mirren, Paulina Porizkova, so many others just let nature take its course and are still beautiful.
Madonna has become an insecure caricature of herself.

Madonna's biggest problem with her age is that she's a one-trick pony. She's not a versatile actress or singer, and her career was built on making sexy youthful pop songs. Her image never matured, and neither did her age.

Showbusiness forces images on people all of the time. Her first album released, and it was a smash-hit, she was some sexy young thing making provocative pop songs. I don't know if it was an image she voluntarily wanted to continue putting out, but managers and contracts and companies will most often stonewall you into whatever sells. Sinead O'Connor, by comparison, was one of the women that was going to be forced into the "conventionally attractive young woman" archetype for her first record and that's why she's kept her head shaved for the past thirty years.

I'm sure there came a point in Madge's life where her only options were quit entirely or continue making whatever the labels wanted her to shit out, but that was years ago.

Madonna is one of the few major pop stars (of any era) who gives the impression that she really, truly, doesn’t give a shit about music. She wanted fame, and being hot and churning out good club tracks was a way to do that. If Desperately Seeking Susan had turned her into an actual movie star, “Into the Groove” would have been her last single.

Baseless gossip: I used to carpool with a former NYC sax player who had toured with Bowie and done some real studio work etc etc: he knew some people. Anyway, he told me his bro was fuckin Madge way back in the day when she was sucking dick for stage time in the clubs. He said Madonna was extraordinarily hairy even for an Italian. He did not, however, say anything about her nasty hands.

Unflattering gossip about Bowie (fanboys do not click)
after a tour the headliner is expected to give the crew a big bonus, or a party (nobody wants a party they fucking hate each other by now) anyway Bowie elected to throw a party catered by Burger King, which he did not attend. There was however lots of cocaine.

Was this during the thin white duke era?

Yes, late 70s. I do t know which tour tho, but deffo peppers and milk Era. I said fanbois dnc my spoiler but it really just made him more endearing to me.

At some point you'll need to accept that people have free will. She's not a slave, she's not controlled by label companies, she's not brainwashed by managers. When she was young she was a cute slutty girl that saw an opportunity for fame and wealth and took a chance. It worked really well for her and she became one of the most famous and wealthy people of all time. Now that she's older and less attractive and her body can't keep up when she goes on tours, she became bitter and refuses to move on. She could have changed her persona and started doing other type of music to better reflect her age, like Lady Gaga did. Instead she decided to fuck 19 year old black dudes while high on cocaine and get ugly butt implants to show off to her underage crowds. Nobody is to blame for this but her.

This may be a controversial opinion, but as a longtime David Bowie fan, I can't help but think that the Thin White Duke era was when Bowie looked his best.

Sure, he was underweight and battling a severe cocaine addiction, but there was just something so cool about the way he looked during that period, and for a guy who never didn't look incredibly cool, that's really quite a gift.

Madonna was never quite on Bowie's level in terms of trendsetting or creative flair, although she was once very effective at recognizing which trends she could borrow from and convincingly sell to a more mainstream audience. At some point though, it seems like she lost touch with which trends could work for her, and now she just looks desperately out of place.

The Ray of Light era showed the potential of how she could mature as an artist, both with respect to the music she was making, and the way that she could present herself as an artist. It's a shame to witness the extent to which she has regressed since then.

A few weeks ago I watched Shanghai Surprise while drunk as hell. It wasn't even funny under those circumstances. She absolutely ruins what could have been a fun quirky cult movie.Spends the whole couple of hours either whining about everything under the sun as she tags along with the opium smuggling guys being useless, or lecturing them all in that unbearable arrogant fake English accent she puts on at random. Just like irl basically. She wasn't even acting, just being herself.

I can understand why Sean Penn went ham.

I don’t know why Madonna hasn’t gotten fillers for her hands. They do them now.

When I think of an aging famous person, Audrey Hepburn comes to mind. She found a cause she believed in and when she was no longer outwardly young and sexy, her internal beauty shone. She gave us some fun movies and iconic photos-then went on to do a lot of work helping people. I’m sure many know they owe their lives to that.

It’s all over Madonnas plastic face that she’s got nothing else going on in her life. It’s sad, if one is generous. It’s incomprehensible to those who don’t care. And it’s horrifying to those who think.

Her only interest is her past self. She’s like that fat 65 year old male regaling family and friends for the thousandth time the story about the touchdown he made in high school that won the game. Nothing else in their lives matter-they are stuck in time.

Yes, there is pressure on female performers of her type to stay young and beautiful. Still, there is nothing stopping them from taking a different role (producer, director, writer) or finding something that interests them outside of entertainment where age doesn’t matter. 100% know they will age. But some are stuck on their moment in time forever, and we can’t blame society for that.

She’s going to look more and more deformed, chasing this elusive dream of being in her mid-60s and leaving a trail of hard-ons in her wake. She doesn’t understand that written all over her face is nothing-she’s an empty shell.
