If I honestly did not know any better, I’d think that Madonna was worried more about being pushed to the side by the same edgy and overtly sexual OnlyFans girls that are getting famous for doing things that she used to do back in the 80’s.

”Material Girl” and “Like A Virgin” were hits for a reason, but it’s definitely not in the way in which she would like. It’s making her this desperate to still want to be relevant again.

Madonna is one of the biggest reasons why I am terrified to age. Of course, I'm not a washed-up Hollywood Hooker, but there's something truly horrible about watching someone cling helplessly to their failing body and youth, while they should be quietly drinking themselves to death over it in a nice retirement cabin, like a normal person. It's the same feeling you get looking at a kid with progeria, or cancer, or something. Too long that way and it's just an awful, pathetic, thing to see.

I really hope I die young. You're only two or three bad decisions away from becoming Madonna.
I want to be a moldy old fart when I'm old, not some weird plastic whore-beast. Madonna's a freak because she rejects getting old. Embrace it. Just be an old person. It's fine.

Reading this thread I'm surprised by the number of people shocked at how she's ended up. An attention whore who made her looks and being a slut her entire personality isn't aging well? She's constantly chasing after her fading looks with surgeries? Despite being geriatric she's trying to flaunt her body like a 20 year old instathot? You didn't have to be Nostradamus to see that once she hit the wall her psyche was going to crack open entirely.
I thought she would accept aging more gracefully, I guess.
She always struck me a a very strong-willed woman who wouldn't take shit from anyone on anything, including getting older, and it's a bit sad to see her falling into the trap of extensive plastic surgery.
"I've got wrinkles, big fucking deal" sort of attitude.

Right? It's weird. One moment she's denouncing patriarchy and misogyny but the next she's filling her face with botox and fillers, getting butt implants, photoshopping her pictures to oblivion and pasting her face on images of younger models because she seems to think that looking like a forever-young plastic pornified bimbo is the only thing that makes her worthy.

“Yes, hello front desk. Um, I just checked into room 502 and there appears to be a dead hooker under the bed?

Oh. That’s just Madonna? Well, can you send security up anyway, please.”

What a shame. She should of just kept the course she was on when she released Ray of Light. Also that remix of Frozen(which is a fantastic song on its own) is an abortion.

After the divorce Guy Ritchie said in an interview something like "I mean, she is kind of retarded." I remember at the time thinking "come on man, she's made a huge name for herself so she must've done something right, don't be so bitchy, plus that's the mother of your kid, lol chill."
But now?
I am revisiting my initial objections.

why does she keep insisting to let us hear that shit remix,
we get it madonna, youre hip and are on the trends, never mind that your butt has more capacity than your brain

Ugh the Frozen remix is horrible, just abysmal. Whenever I find myself critical of her I tell myself, hey, she did give us the Ray of Light album and songs like Frozen, Drowned World and the rest; but now she wants to include her old songs in her attempts to stay forever young and cool with the kids. Whatever happened to the introspective new mother of the Ray of Light era who sang this?

I traded fame for love
Without a second thought
It all became a silly game
Some things cannot be bought
I got exactly what I asked for
Wanted it so badly
Running, rushing back for more
I suffered fools so gladly
And now, I find
I've changed my mind

That introspective lasted until she released Beautiful Stranger and Music, the later of which was a more commercially accepted album. Note that the title track from ROL was the only song with any real traction going for it. Frozen, in spite of the huge hype it had, was a middling hit and there was the big controversy about Drowned World (only released outside the US and the video showing Madonna being chased by motorcyclist photographers ala Prince Diana right before her death, which pissed off US fans as there was a huge gap between Ray of Light and the next US single ("The Power of Goodbye"; a middling hit most famous for being licensed out to the WB for use for the promotional campaign for Felicity's debut episode, and the less said about "Nothing Really Matters".

Indeed, I'd argue that Ray of Light is an overrated album with only two decent songs: the title track (Ray of Light) and Swim, which itself is a bit maudlin track but haunting, especially given the backstory behind the day Madonna recorded the vocals (TL;DR she had just found out that Versace, who was a close friend of hers, had been murdered hours before recording the vocals for the song).

But yeah, Madonna was super serious and "mature" until Ray of Light's promotional campaign ended as she followed the album up with Beautiful Stranger and went back to doing catchy pop songs.

(Also, I'd make a case American Life MIGHT have been better received had the title track never been recorded let alone released as a single)

I do think Madonna was at least momentarily serious about becoming this mature new artist who's gonna write songs on motherhood and Hindu philosophy et al and never sing songs like Like A Virgin anymore, but I also believe she expected that this will give her newfound media attention and public relevance, maybe as this "reinvented pop-star turned serious introspective artist". It did win her her first Grammy, but you're right, introspection doesn't sell well.

The paradox here is that flashing your ass to the cameras doesn't, either. At least not at this age. So...

Way to ruin a masterpiece. The new Frozen remix is absolute shit.

I liked Ray of Light so I’m obviously biased but Beautiful Stranger was the start of that weird phase where she started to really LARP as Bri’ish (little did we know how much worse it’d get after that lol). Ray of Light was a natural evolution for a pop singer who is approaching middle age. Per Wikipedia, ROL sold over 16 million copies so it seemed to have resonated with the public as well. But after that is where her irreversible break with reality began. I guess “mature pop singer” wasn’t as fun as getting a fake ass, who knew?

Conversely, Kylie Minogue is 54 and seems to have learned the lessons Madonna should have, and she’s aging much better to boot.

Maybe Beautiful Stranger made her feel 'desirable' again, so she hardcore adopted everything about it (the Bri' 'ish 'accent,' the clothes styles, etc.) But since she can't even remain at that age to pull that off, she's going nuts.

I am curious as to when she entered menopause. Maybe that phase broke her brain too.
