But I’d rather just have Wizards treat Standard better
Standard used to be the onboarding process for new players. Now, because of its regular and frequent release schedule, its only used to trickle distribute modern and commander cards. Because of that, they'll never be able to rein-back standard into a reasonable place unless they drastically change their design philosophy for sets, which they probably wont. Foundations has already demonstrated this. The power-inflation is real, and its running away, which is why I think they're just squeezing out money while they can.

I can understand their push for Commander since they have mismanaged their other formats and it gives players getting into MTG from UB the chance to play with their favorite characters as a Commander/face card.
But I’d rather just have Wizards treat Standard better which I think would be a better idea overall as welcome decks allow for a lower price for entry, there will be people who’re are interested in Magic and/or a UB product but who will balk at the initial asking price of 30~45 dollars so giving them something cheaper and more approachable would be better
Yeah, Jumpstart is probably the single greatest on boarding product they've done in years. Buy two (fairly affordable) packs, smash them together and play. It's a lot of fun.

Otherwise it would be nice if they could bring back brawl and let the sets have brawl decks instead of massive commander precons.

Brawl is a good on-boarding product... for constructed. But it's not as good as Jumpstart and Brawl is filled with cards that literally don't work in constructed.

They wanted Brawl to be on-boarding for commander but it's played very differently and the precons are better for starting a Commander collection anyway.

People really need to stop letting WOTC be retards and then blaming Hasbro. WOTC are the Tranny Loving Retards who would rather make Aragorn a Nigger then let the Chuds win.
Yes, but what I'm talking about here are their business decisions, not black Aragorn. Some of their business decisions I blame of WoTC as Magic has never really had a good onboarding process, but I think Secret lairs, Universes Beyond, releasing such high MSRP products while not catering to a lower bar to entry is Hasbro. Hasbro should be having WoTC making smart long term decisions anyways, or at least bettter decisions to grow the playerbase faster to keep up with the product they keep printing.
You can see it in how Hasbro talks about Dungeons and Dragons to be like Fortnite or to "better monetize" the player base, along with their cutting of staff and attempts to intigrate AI into WoTC in order to skip out on paying people, create apps they have to put less effort into, and to create another thing for them to sell people.
All the while better but less greedier ideas like not charging 30 dollars for onboarding pass by their vacant heads.

This shit is still wholly on WOTC. Hasbro didnt tell WOTC to fuck up standard with Fires of Invention, or Modern with the shitty ass Evoke elementals.

Or Thoracle, or The broke as shit Sorin, or Up the Beanstalk..

WotC has to pay for all of Hasbro's failing brands because the way the business criminals think is that brands like GI Joe and Barbie have intrinsic value through divine right of kings and they have to be supported through the slump until the goy remember it. So the retards running Monopoly are allowed to think about value and retaining customers while the kikes at WotC are told to turn the money printer to maximum to keep profits high so the stockholders continue sitting on their asses.

I agree, but I wasn't talking about Wizards being shit at designing cards.
Although if you wanted too you could direct some blame to Hasbro indirectly, saying them trying to use WoTC as a money printer and telling WoTC to speed things up while also cutting staff causes more design problems, but all of the design problems I can think of off the top of my head were last minute changes they made knowing they wouldn't be able to test them, Mark having a terrible idea and being the lead, or them purposefully pushing cards for commander.

It always bothers me when people blame Hasbro when all the history of WOTC is filled with retardation and Tumblr takes. Hell, MaRo is still in love with Tumblr to this day, a platform with literal zero value in social media.

But that is the major part of the problem, not some vague Hasbro edicts.

Was it Hasbro that told WOTC to give up on 3 set blocks?
Was it Hasbro that told WOTC to half ass the Gatewatch?
Was it Hasbro that told WOTC to make Aragorn a Nigger?
Was it Hasbro that told WOTC to change the One Ring AFTER playtesting was done?
Was it Hasbro that told WOTC to not put a basic function in their ESPORTS platform?
Was it Hasbro that told Maro to do repeated Un sets despite the fact that they sell like shit?

Hell the fact that Unfinity got made at all kind of shows that Hasbro isn't really micromanaging all that much, Un sets are repeated failures.

No, but I'm also not complaining about that right now.

MTG is one of the greatest games ever made managed by one of the worst companies to ever exist

Well those are the things that are making the game worse, WOTC's perpetual hair on fire incompetence and then screaming and running into another direction because what they just tried didn't instantly get them the presidential medal of honor for making the bestest thing ever, and instead of putting any blame on the people fucking making the game they blame Hasbro so shit continues along the exact same path it has for the past 15 years.

Why are we getting Universes Beyond more? Because WOTC has fucking Half assed the flavor of the game since at least 2012 when they threw out the established ending of Ravnica City of Guilds to do their stupid Maze Runner ripoff because they are too fucking lazy to keep any level of notes on their own fucking game's lore and setting and since nobody gave a shit about that level of laziness now they are being even more lazy and just sucking cocks in an alley to get the rights to an IP.

Of course now people give a shit but you are over a decade too late because Magic as an IP has been dead so long that has had long enough to rot to a skeleton (with an Afro cause he was black)

Edit : Here is why Universes Beyond is happening, because Wizards of the Coast has so completely fucked Magic as an IP that the Official Podcast, Live..on the stage at the Biggest Magic event of the year has half the Views of...

Mad at the Internet.

The lore of Magic being dead is a bummer because the Weatherlight Saga and the backstories of oldwalkers were really interesting.
Urza, a man with god-like powers engineers the perfect soldier over dozens of generations of humans to get Gerrard Capashen, who himself is an interesting character, to fight against Phyrexia and Yawgmoth at the height of his power.
A good, faithful web series or movie adaptation of that story would make for great fantasy entertainment. Sadly that'll never happen, and if it does happen they'll make half of the characters gay or black like they did with Aragorn

Super cool to see Josh beating out an IP almost as old as he is backed by a multibillion corporation though. Feels good to be a KF user.

I almost pinged him because I think he would be amused by it.

The fun part is when I was finding that video..I saw a Cosplay Contest they did during Worlds which has less than a thousand when I looked (its 1.6K now)

I for one welcome Black Aragorn, for no reason other than screaming Niggagorn and arguing that Shriekmaw can’t kill him because he is black is really funny with my friends.

I never played during the age where people say the lore was good, but to be honest I don’t think there would ever be any way I would get into a card game lore of all things. The weatherlight saga made for a neat wiki page read, and I’d like to see a real adaptation of it, but they missed the boat on a cartoon to join YuGiOh decades ago. MKM bastardizing Ravnica meant absolutely nothing to me, and I don’t think I know a single person who gave a single care.

Almost everyone I play the game with across four friend groups have zero knowledge or interest in the story on the sheer basis of how socially lame it is to know card game lore. Planeswalkers are “those annoying cards with too much stuff to read that I can attack directly” and that’s it.

Truth is that most people who play this game no matter how good it is or isn’t would never interact with the lore whatsoever. Reading a wheel of time length saga to keep up with my silly card game is just never gonna happen, even if it is somehow as good as wheel of time. So few people read books at all these days, supporting your lore through novels or text stories of all things is setting yourself up for failure. We all know there’s no anime budget.

“Hello new casual card game player who plays sometimes on weekends, may I introduce to you 4 books a year for 20 years all contiguous and well woven together I promise it’s a masterpiece” is not converting anyone.

The best case scenario for the IP is the scheduled “destined to be mediocre streaming service show” that Netflix is making. That’s as good as it gets.

It makes me sad, but there is no world where any amount of care put in and consistency and management was ever going to make Magic a valuable IP. The game was rigged from the start.

The WotC advertising team should literally kill themselves. They do the worst possible job to grow the brand it's actually unreal. When big tournaments show up on Twitch they never do anything when it would be the easiest fucking thing to boost numbers with twitch drops in hopes of getting random eyeballs. Of course their cosplay corners and lore dumps get zero attention from anyone, the staff themselves give zero shits but no one higher up cares enough about results to fire them.
