Well damn. Is that only a C or U there???
It's a mini set, the physical package is the same as a normal standard set rarity wise but there are no commons in the set. They are selling it for the same price as a normal but it's not intended to be draftable so fuck commons anyway.

I used to play quite a bit but it got too corporate. I peek in every now and then and see how gay and goosesteppy it's gotten (negroes and homos on cards, etc) I'm glad I quit

Still might go back and to the occasional chaos box draft, but fuck that shit

FFS, I thought that's what multikicker was for!
Isn't multi-kicker unlimited?

This is a clusterfuck of a design but I kind of like it as a concept, where you pay a premium for each ability, but you get the flexibility and scaling instead of it just being a 1G 3/3 or something that you can pay 1 to power up so it's better than the old sex monkey and shit.

RIP planeswalkers I guess

So after Yawgmaroth had Phyrexia dependent upon his existence to function and his death resulted in their defeat his successors blah centuries later specifically added that exact same weakness on themselves. Not had it, made a point of specifically adding it to themselves?

Oh and of course that weakness is capitalised on by a dedicated pacifist ripping someone's head off. Or did Karn's loathing for murder never get revisited?

Well done Wizards, truly you can write formidable antagonists on par with Saturday morning monsters defeated by toddlers.

lol if that were only the case, I'd be pretty stoked. I hate planeswalkers as a design space But let's be real - this just lets them shelf all the old planeswalkers they don't like. They then promote a bunch of fucking godawful planeswalkers that are walking tropes to the fore, to replace the gatewatch, and they... then do the same fucking thing over again.

MoM is one of the worst 'creative' storylines I've ever glimpsed. It's genuinely embarrassing, and there's not really much more to expound on from it.

I think you could do multikicker:

Multikicker G

When Tranquil Frillback enters the battlefield, if it was kicked, choose one for each time it was kicked:

* Destroy target artifact or enchantment
* Exile target player's graveyard
* You gain 4 life

You can't choose the same one twice.
This would be consistent with players getting to pay the multikicker as often as they want, there is just zero benefit to paying more than GGG unless there is some effect I can't think of that rewards you for spending green mana.

The most likely reason they didn't use it is MaRo being MaRo - he has said repeatedly he considers kicker and multikicker to be mistakes because they are so broad and flexible that they eat up space which could otherwise have gone to more narrow, flavorful/tailored mechanics. Of course modern WotC is modern WotC so they chose the worst of both worlds here - they didn't use multikicker even though it would have fit perfectly, but they didn't use their self imposed ban on multikicker to come up with an alternate mechanic either.

Edit to add: Here is an alternative with regular old kicker:
Kicker G
Kicker GG
Kicker GGG

When Tranquil Frillback enters the battlefield, if the kicker cost paid was G, choose one:
When Tranquil Frillback enters the battlefield, if the kicker cost paid was GG, choose two:
When Tranquil Frillback enters the battlefield, if the kicker cost paid was GGG, choose three:

* Destroy target artifact or enchantment
* Exile target player's graveyard
* You gain 4 life

You can't choose the same one twice or pay multiple kicker costs.

It's verbose, incompatible with any cost reduction effects (though I'm not sure there are any which work with kicker), and would be the only card in the entire game to have multiple kickers but only let the player pick one or care about the overall kicker cost. It's a bunch of extra work for the same result as just using multikicker. Going back to bashing MaRo/WotC kicker is a flexible, popular mechanic with a generic name which makes it ideal for an evergreen mechanic - there would be low/no risk it would not fit with a given set and they might as well put kicker to use since they can't put the genie in the bottle.

Or if bringing back kicker/multikicker is unbearable for WotC they could increase the cost to 1GG and amend the rules on Escalate to let it appear on creatures (which they might as well, there are creatures like Thassa's Oracle which may as well be sorceries since all their value comes from their EtB effects):

Escalate G (Pay this cost for each mode chosen beyond the first):

When this creature enters the battlefield, choose one or more -
* Destroy target artifact or enchantment
* Exile target player's graveyard
* You gain 4 life
It works but it takes away flexibility by forcing you to pay for at least one of the modes.

A little happening.
That dude who opened some aftermath boxes recently now claims that Wizards sent Pinkertons to take this stuff from him.
I've been loving that the same retards who tend to shout shit like "ACAB" or "Defund the Police" have, without hesitation, screamed WOTC should've "called the police" on this guy. Seriously, if you ever hear someone saying this shit, just ask them how that sorts with the defund slogan, and watch them short-circuit.

If you really want to make them red in the face, ask them how they'd prove the goods were stolen (perhaps meriting police intervention) and not simply a breach of non-disclosure agreements (meriting legal action) without access to any of the actual packaging to determine where it came from. If you want to make them start screaming, rub in that in a month they'll have totally forgotten this whole ordeal as they gleefully shell out hundreds of dollars to the evil company for some cardboard rectangles.

Meanwhile Serra looks absolutely fine, honestly Vol.3 is the better secret lair of the bunch.

It looks the best of her new art cards, although it is still a downgrade from her old artwork.

And the new World Champion card looks very creepy and uncanny for some reason:

And the fact that the winner doesn't design the card, compared to how Magic Invitational winners did, and the flavor says that it's the World Champ (which breaks immersion), makes it look even more cheap and silly.

Here's Dark Confidant, as an example, which depicts Magic Invitational winner Bob Maher:

The game needs more Bobs, and less of, whatever the Faerie Mastermind is.

I mean, the last one did, too. If memory serves, this guy gave a loose direction about what he wanted his card to be - since most of the time, the original design intent of cards submitted by the pros is a far cry from what comes out, like Snapcaster.

The trouble with the art is twofold. The crop is way too close. It's also an action scene in which you can't fucking tell what the action is, so in addition to the too-detailed-face effect you've got a really awkward pose that comes off as flat. The perspective also feels weird because of this - the character's right arm and left leg are wildly smaller, which would make sense in a more dramatic scene... but it's just a close-up. It makes the noggin look bigger than it already is.
