I dunno. Sounds like they're moving from print-to-demand to print-to-a-wishful-demand. This is only going to turn FOMO if they suddenly decide to start filling secret lairs with insane value. (which, to be fair, they probably will on the first drop affected by this change)WotC will changing Secret Lairs to limited print runs, starting this year. Sounds like yet another FOMO push, but given that cards from Secret Lairs lately have been forgettable (?), will it even do anything for sales?
Yes, but it shouldn't. That they were destroying secret lairs suggested they already weren't printing to demand, but rather had set amounts that they would print, then they'd do a second or third or etc wave to meet demand. And they needed to do that for the first few, which sold well, and which generally had good card choices and good art choices.will it even do anything for sales?
Oh, that's an easy one: the same way they fuck up literally every other culture. Take shitty marvel characters, take a shitty marvel plot, and have the art team put in all the work of looking up architecture and fashion to make something that actually looks cool, but is bereft of any soul or passion. Then, mistake West Africa for Sub-Saharan Africa and make every character look like they're in the congo, except for one or two odd asian characters here and there.and how SJWs fuck up West African folklore.
Only until we get the first planeswalker with Down syndrome.
I need a damn potato planeswalker before I’ll be happy damn it! Who else am I supposed to alter the late Jim metokur onto?I mean Narset is autistic according to cannon.
One of my friends showed off the precons at our Christmas party, but I forgot it was a thing until you said something here. It looks really dope, and while I only regonized one of the artists, it looks so good that I ordered a set of the precons. Will say more when I’ve had a chance to play it myself.Had any yall Hear of Sorcery : Contested Realm, "Beta set" launched during November
Does Minsc count?I need a damn potato planeswalker before I’ll be happy damn it! Who else am I supposed to alter the late Jim metokur onto?
You have Niko, Wotc. Say it, I dare you.I mean Narset is autistic according to cannon.
I really want to like Sorcery, but it feels too derivative as it's trying to latch onto the concept of Magic, even in name, and the whole nudity in the art as a selling point is kind of weird. At the same time I think they have some really fun ideas and seeing Crusade vs. Jihad is fun, maybe they'll figure it out eventually.Had any yall Hear of Sorcery : Contested Realm, "Beta set" launched during November its a tactics based Indy TCG from the guy who mad the pc game Path of Exile (think chess if you got to collect the pieces but they where cards that you collect and build a deck around with hand painted art in a staunch old school Fantasy aesthetic. with og mtg artist doing some of the art The game is also a lot of fun, very collectable with a strict reprint policy. Just posting this here since i figured the mtg players on the farms might be intrigued I like these cards lol. https://sorcerytcg.com/

It's that one they spent days denying was AI generated right?Wizards of the Coast admits using AI art after banning AI art
WotC continues to shoot itself in the foot over and over and over again on this subject.

Don't want to detail the thread too much but a think after the first expansion set releases in spring (arthurian legends) the game will start to come into its own in identify and more refined gameplay. But out of all the post covid "indie tcgs" I think Sorcery has the most long term potential.I really want to like Sorcery, but it feels too derivative as it's trying to latch onto the concept of Magic, even in name, and the whole nudity in the art as a selling point is kind of weird. What are we counting as post Covid indies? Meta Zoo? That was a joke made to rug pull people. Flesh and Blood? I hear it's doing fine even if it's stumbling and after playing it a little I really like it.Don't want to detail the thread too much but a think after the first expansion set releases in spring (arthurian legends) the game will start to come into its own in identify and more refined gameplay. I never understood the Metazoo hype personally, I was just like did a child made this? I guess i meant post covid as a era when in, rather than i type of tcg in particular What a meant was on this side of covid I think going forward is the tcg world is still going to have mtg at the top but many stores having communities of their favorite indie tcg of choice., depending on the store you go to. FABs stumbling is because the person who makes the game is practically a lolcow, and get into online fights with content creators and store owners and can't take any criticism . But what killed Flesh and Blood at my store of choice was people hated how competitive it was despite the game catering to competitive players. ( Commander has turned many players into casual babies that hate to lose in a fast paced game, but that is a topic for another time)What are we counting as post Covid indies? Meta Zoo? I don't have anything against Sorcery, I just think it's overhyped. Would be cool if they make it, it's different and has interesting art, but I think it's better as a boxed game with expansions than a TCG with their once a year release schedule. Out of all the TCGs coming out lately though I think Flesh and Blood as well as Sorcery are the ones with the most collectible cards, a lot of other options are just not appealing enough to collect. Sorcery probably has better art overall than Flesh and Blood but I'm a little turned away by the lewdity even if it's in a more tasteful way.
Rudy viewers are literal mouth breathers and I mean that as a statement of fact, not slander. I think it's fine to speculate on cards, but the people who usually do shouldn't be allowed near their own money without a guardian present. The whole thing was just Rudy claiming it would be worth a million dollars because of his promos and to totally trust him.I never understood the Metazoo hype personally, I was just like did a child made this?
From what I hear that's true, and I hope they can tard wrangle the creator for the good of the company. I haven't really seen a competitive scene the few times I played, mostly it's people playing Blitz decks against each other but they don't mind losing, they just don't seem to want to hardcore meta deck.FABs stumbling is because the person who makes the game is practically a lolcow, and get into online fights with content creators and store owners and can't take any criticism . What even forum would we put a Rudy thread in? Grift wars? Internet famous? The beauty parlor?????You guys should consider making a Rudy thread. Anywho, anyone going to their lgs this weekend, for some Ravnica Remastered limited?
I remember the original Ravnica trilogy being really solid. Like I would argue possibly the best they ever did (though I haven't read all of them and I've heard good things about Kamigawa).I've read all the books and enjoyed them all except Masques, and from what I remember people didn't really care one way or the other about if the cards had story elements on them or not. I know people liked that Magic had a sense of its own story, where even if you didn't follow the story you knew it was something unique to the world, and look at the sets that do great, things like Dominaria, Ravnica, all have more sets they return to than Egypt but Magic. Inspiration is fine to draw from the real world, but it's lame when you have more of the real world aspects than the Magic ones in the game.
I do know some people were pissy about the Magic story, but not in a substantial way, just in a "oh you read Magic lore? Why? Pick up a real book like Harry Potter."
I got a sorcery starter kit and like what i see so far. My only hesitation is that it's... a little too "casual" in wording to really have a viable tournament scene IMO.Had any yall Hear of Sorcery : Contested Realm, "Beta set" launched during November its a tactics based Indy TCG from the guy who mad the pc game Path of Exile (think chess if you got to collect the pieces but they where cards that you collect and build a deck around with hand painted art in a staunch old school Fantasy aesthetic. with og mtg artist doing some of the art The game is also a lot of fun, very collectable with a strict reprint policy.
