I think it was made to fight Emrakul and some other huge thing like Bolas. Up to that point nobody had killed an Eldrazi titan, and having a team assembled who had done it before was crucial. They all had an interest in killing something that could have eventually caused their world harm.
It would have made more sense during the Kaladesh arch if Chandra handled the issue with Shali, and summoned the gatewatch at the end to attack Bolas. As Bolas was interfering with other worlds, and using technology that could breach planes.
I liked how that after WAR they weren't as present for a while, and it kind of makes sense to bring them back for the Phyrexian arch.

The Stated Reason for the Gatewatch to exist was "to prevent evil planeswalkers from abusing their power"

The problem is the way it was formed, the founding members and the fact they instantly slammed against Bolas was all stupid.

It was a treaty or alliance based on Ob Nixilis's defeat. They figured "We beat that demon, let's form a team to blow up the titans and see how that goes."
After that, Jace went looking for Sorin to kill the last Titan with the rest of the team.
The gatewatch has always been retarded. "Hey we beat two titans we can beat another one". Gets wiped, and only wins because Emrakul scoops. Beat Tezzeret, "Hey we beat that guy with a metal arm, we can go kill and elder dragon.". Gets wiped. "Hey we barely fended off Sheolod, and the guy with the metal arm. Let's go straight to New Phyrexia with only 10 people. One of which I barely know, and two of which were at war with each other a set or two back" Half the team gets Compleated.

At least Chandra is supposed to be dumb and motivated solely by thirsting over Nissa and Gideon, but trying to kill the titans was such a stupid idea both in and out of universe.

So with Vraska and Jace I get it, love makes you do some truly retarded things. It also doesn't help that Luhrs is the only competent writer, and their romance is essentially her baby. I dunno what happened to them in Durkmoore, but I have no doubt that Jace and Vraska will offscreen manage to rescue Loot. Vulvagoth is gonna get stoned.

One of two, remember Brandon Sanderson wrote Children of the Nameless. He was willing to do more work for free in exchange for the novellas and books he wrote being free PDFs on the Magic website. But Wizards tried to monetize the PDF of Children of the Nameless so he's not going to work for Wizards again, honestly it was pretty stupid on Wizards part, even if they had little to no control over what he wrote they'd go on to create UB which they have less control over than any hypothetical Children of the Nameless sequel or Children of the Namless cards.
And the idea of a CotN being a sort of original Universes Within, while not my favorite, is a better idea than the UB shit.

going back and looking, it was more that Jace was checking to make sure Sorin and Nahiri didn't get killed by Bolas.

To be fair 90% of Sheoldred's threat was bullshit writing on it's own, a Never before Mentioned Dragon Dragon Engine that was 100 Times Larger than a Normal Dragon Engine that was somehow not found in the 100s of years after the invasion did most of the work.

This is also kind of unfair because the only reasons it failed was because Somebody (Presumably Gin but it was never stated) created a device that messed up where the Planeswalkers landed and seperated them all...somehow..despite the only 3 beings ever showing the ability to achive something like that were 2 old walkers and an insane Golem powered by the Mirari.

And even THEN it only still failed because Vraska was compleated and the writing very convienently rememered that Jace and Vraska were supposed to be an item despite ignoring it during War of the Spark.

Returning to Zendikar in the first place was a retard move, Having "Unbeatable Cosmic Horrors" is fucking stupid lazy ass writing and the only Mention of Eldrazi after the first Zendikar set should have been "We don't know where they are but they are still out there...SPOOOOOOOOOKKKKYYYY"

The only mistake in killing the Eldrazi Titans is that WOTC didn't kill off all fucking 3 and put an end to the entire shitty idea.

The others looks mostly normal, they probably do some fucked up shit though. Olivia is generally an ok cosplayer, mostly found it weird she's also closely related to Kibler. Rebell Lily also isn't a whore like Lua appearing mostly like a frumpy Asian woman (This is actually a troon).

The only one on that list that I trust to actually have any idea of what’s going on is Wheeler and he’s a literal faggot. I was already looking into selling my collection but this is just painful between this and Edge of eternities.

To be honest, Standard sets now feel like Universes Beyond sets anyway. MKM is the LA Noire UB, Thunder Junction is the cowboy UB, Duskmourn is the 80s Shlock Horror UB, the next set with the planeswalkers drag racing across the multiverse for some reason is the UB for that one Hannah Barbera racing cartoon.

It's all so tiresome. The modern game is just joyless.
