I am willing to bet Duskmourne and Bloomburrow bombed despite the "hype"
There is an easy way to test your hypothesis: If MaRo spergs about the set doing well, possibly in coded language about the game changing or fans going for the novel premise, it at least hit sales targets. If he stays quiet or makes some PR-sanitized comments about not appealing to players, it bombed. If he apologizes for ruining the game and antagonizing fans, you are either dreaming or in Opposite World.

I cannot be bothered to read his Tumblr or WotC posts to see which of these has happened.

To be honest, Standard sets now feel like Universes Beyond sets anyway. MKM is the LA Noire UB, Thunder Junction is the cowboy UB, Duskmourn is the 80s Shlock Horror UB, the next set with the planeswalkers drag racing across the multiverse for some reason is the UB for that one Hannah Barbera racing cartoon.

It's all so tiresome. The modern game is just joyless.
Are there any new TGC brewing or under the radar? I love the gameplay loop of Magic but if I play a hand and Luke Skywalker is countering Captain America’s interrupt I’m going to kill myself and everyone in the local game store.

Most of the good games are either anime adjacent, like One Piece and Union Arena, or are wildly different from magic, like flesh and blood or Sorcery or Keyforge. Or you could play the new Star Wars TCG and ACTUALLY play luke skywalker. OP and UA are enjoyable (I’m really liking union arena’s play pattern which is somewhat similar to magic) and I’d play keyforge if I could get literally anyone to play it with me.

>woman

99% sure that's a tranny.
You're right. Dug into it and I think he went by Rebell Son before and is very clearly a man by the voice. Sometimes it's hard to tell with Asians, especially with so few photos available and their heavy use of filters.

From what I hear, both sold well, but have no sustainability and the price of boxes is not sustainable long term. The Banana Stand on TCG is probably making the most money out of anyone in the equation outside of Wizards. Bloomburrow supposedly was bringing standard back as people actually liked the set, but then Duskmourne killed it completely again.

I am going by the most visible bar I can go by.

When I go to Wal-Mart to look for some Null Approved Cheddar Cheese...I look at the Magic the Gathering section to see if anything is discounted. If I see Bundles and Commander Decks in Stock regularly the set is bombing because I typically see Packs but not those.

Bloomburrow is still in stock locally, but I live outside the U.S. so I'm not sure if that's affecting sales. Usually by this point in time the previous set would be sold out of sealed product.

EDIT: Personally, I liked Bloomburrow. It's the most 'Magic the Gathering' set we've had in a while.

Bloomburrow was okay...I hate Tribal sets though so that made the set unattractive for me.

I mean keyforge came back....
It's the most like magic - though still pretty unique.

If we were real people i'd play you

Yes, but I hate how pro-furry it is.

The only one on that list that I trust to actually have any idea of what’s going on is Wheeler and he’s a literal faggot. I was already looking into selling my collection but this is just painful between this and Edge of eternities.
Wheeler is a faggot who managed to have a monogamous marriage for years. Having watched his solo streams, I trust him with commander because of the live for magic and sheer autism that man has. The rest of the list can fuck off though.

The non-humanoid monster design in Duskmourn was also nice, although I didn't like the Ripperkin, Slashers are solitary monsters making them a tribe seems off base, and the less said about the survivors the better. I also liked Lost Cavern of Ixalan, but of the three sets I think it suffers the most from being a single set block, although Bloomburrow is a close second.

Spongebob has a Secret Lair in 2025, we were warned by Cardboard Crack.
I’m glad I saw this after I decided I was completely done with MTG. I probably would have fedposted.

we could piss off null and make a dm chain to play keyforge in, upload the game via thumbnails
hah! don't tempt me...

It would be pretty doable that way, assuming we trust each other to not stack the decks.

though of course all the trouble is annoying when Crucible Online is like... right there.

Is it any worse than the My Little Pony secret lairs?

I hope they make Squidward mechanically unique and force everybody to play him.
The main argument that could be made for both the MLP magic products being more acceptable is that it was done as part of the second life charity wotc does every year.

I honestly think that the SpongeBob one will sell gangbusters among the mid-20s players. I also think they’re gonna make Sandy the most sought after card if they’re mechanically unique because she’ll be an auto include in any squirrel deck. I do want to see a villainous wealth with Mr.krabs on it tho.

Bloomburrow looked and felt like a Magic set. Duskmourne looked and felt like a UB set.
Bloomburrow actually got me interested in Magic again, especially standard, but Duskmourne was shit. There's some good art in the set, but when I look at the Ghost Buster, Televisions, and whatever I just don't care. I opened a few packs of Bloomburrow and each one made me think about what I wanted to build as a deck, it was fun, I didn't open a single pack of Duskmourne as I didn't even get that far. Outlaws didn't appeal to me, Modern Masters 3 didn't appeal to me, Murders I thought was an Innistrad set and still didn't care. Ixalan was cool though.
