Crystalline Sliver was my favorite pet card because it kept assholes from boardwipe spamming my army every chance they got.

The Alt Art for approach is extremely cute (and some of the other alt arts are also very cute), other than that, the gimmick doesn't really appeal to me. I'll leave it to scalpers to pick up 500 copies to try and sell for profit, I'm good after the marvel shitshow.

Ironically, there are win cons you can’t actually win with via the current deck list if I read it right. There are no demons, and I didn’t see a way to copy biovisionary in the list. I think they should have printed 8thplacedave’s “every way to lose” deck instead, because it’s FUNNIER and I would have actually bought that.
It's hard to win with those, yeah, but it has Maskwood Nexus for Lilliana annd Rite of Replication for Biovisionary. Also it's kind of conceptually retarded because no Thoracle or Laboratory Maniac (not that Thoracle would be good without demonic consultation, but most of the ways to win in the deck other than Maze's End, Revel in Riches and Approach of the Second Sun are bad so it would fit right in)

I’m just retarded and didn’t see the whole deck list. Nexus and replication make it playable. I agree that they should have put labman or Jace of mysteries in it, but this is WOTC we’re talking about, and they probably think that winning off an empty deck is a far stretch for commander if you don’t make 75+% of the deck centered around that win con.

this right here is why I think all the retards on this site could do a better job overhauling the entirety of magic's story than the hackfraud writers that WOTC pays to do it.
>.> I'da just had Bolas try to swipe the remains of the Weatherlight. It's Planar Hopping wasn't through portals so you could handwave it not being affected by the Mending, You start the formation of the Gatewatch with Gideon and Chandra with Teferi as a Mentor. As the Core of the Weatherlight gets taken away Chandra notices that the Planeswalker is wearing clothing from her home plane, Kaladesh. You end with Teferi and Jhioria talking about the spark she found in the mana rig that was his..and without resolving if he actually took it.

Then both go to Kaladesh where the Weatherlight remains are being examined and have it be a Bolas run plane, with Dovin as a totalitarian Regent. The Revolt starts but Chandra's mother can't overthrow Dovin until Bolas is dealt with because if the Revolution happens Bolas shows up and wipes everyone out. Instead of Liliana you have a new Mono Black Planeswalker in the Gatewatch, a Rogue character(I would use Davriel) who sneaks into Dovin's Office and sees notes about the Immortal Sun and Ugin, that leads Chandra to Zendikar because "The Eye of Ugin"

Chandra goes to Ravnica to get Jace, because he was at the eye of Ugin with her and Sarkhan. They get seperated when they arrive on the plane because Eldrazi have damaged Zendikar so badly that planeswalking to it is unpredictable. Chandra ends up with the Zendikar Survivors, Kiora and Nissa fight the losing battle against the Eldrazi, Jace finds the Eye of Ugin, Along the way he encounters Ob Nixilis trying to fuck with the Hedrons, they fight. Ob Summons some Eldrazi then uses the Hedrons to restore his Spark, Jace finds Ugin trying to repair the Hedon network, Ugin mind reads him..sees that Ob's actions have permanently damaged the Network, Calls the Younger Planeswalkers "Children" Mind Fucks Jace because he knows Bolas and then yeets him to Ixalan before leaving Zendikar to it's fate, while the Plane implodes Nissa, Chandra and Kiora walk away, Nissa goes to Innistrad for revenge against Sorin and Chandra follows.

Shadows over Innistrad becomes a Non Eldrazi story, because the Eldrazi is a non workable plot because they are so powerful that there is no way to handle them that isn't a stupid ass pull. See : Emrakul literally throwing itself into the moon for no reason so that Innistrad doesn't get destroyed.

Instead because Nahiri knows how sealing magic and the hedrons works..she is building a "Hedron" network out of the shards of the Helavault to set up a spell that will suck the Planet into the Moon (which the Helauvault was made from). Avacyn isn't evil now because of Emrakul's influence..Nahiri had Decades if not Centuries to alter Avacyn while she was also and Old Walker and had the time to do so.

Nahiri does the Declaration in stone thing, removing Sorin from the final confrontation, meaning that Chandra and Nissa have to find Gideon and Davriel to help them (and Liliana) fight an Old Walker who makes Liliana look young. They manage to drive off Nahiri and Nissa undoes the spell to pull Innistrad into the moon and learns "No Revenge not a good thing lul" They speak with Liliana and mention Bolas..who takes the chance to get the Gatewatch to kill one of her demons on Amonkhet.

Amonkhet kind of goes the same, except that instead of being a plane that Bolas took over...it is a plane he created, they Kill...whats his face Demon man that Liliana had the contract with Then Bolas shows up, reveals that this is his terf and the entire populace turns against the Gatewatch because Bolas is their actual god. The Gatewatch gets Driven off back to Ravnica and we see the first hint of Bolas's Citadel, which uses weatherlight as a Core to Transport armies to conquer planes. Except Liliana who can't leave because with her last Demon Dead (fuck it have her have killed one offscreen) Bolas now controls the contract.

Then we hop to Jace and Ixalan, this happens mostly the same. Jace and Vraska bond, Jace gets his full set of Memories back, Tezzeret shows up, takes the Immortal Sun and poofs off.

Then we have Ravnica 3/War of the Spark.

Jace returns to Ravnica, which is in a mess because The Guildpact has been gone for months (being nudged along by Bolas's planeswalker Minions) so chaos is settling in, at the end of the Second set once Jace has kinda Tardwrangled the Guilds a bit..the "Gatewatch" Convienes...and mid Meeting Teferi shows up, Jace and Teferi realize that Bolas' plan is to regain the power he had before and will need a mass amount of Planeswalker sparks...and a Plane that is perfectly balanced in Mana to perform the ritual since Old-Walkers weilded all 5 colors which is pretty rare because even stable places like Dominaria end up with imbalances.

You would have to have Thousands of Years of a stable system that has equal representation in colors going for it..like some sort of..set of Guilds for each color or color combinations.

lol wut? they're renaming kaladesh?

Avishkar: Why We Changed the Name of a Plane

In the recently released Planeswalker's Guide to Aetherdrift, you'll notice that the plane formerly named Kaladesh is now named Avishkar (AH-vish-kar). While that guide goes into the in-universe reason for this change, we wanted to share the real-world reasons behind it.

When we first started working on Aetherdrift, we were excited for Magic to return to one of the players' most beloved planes: a bright and hopeful world of invention that took inspiration from real-world India. We knew we had heard feedback at the release of the original Kaladesh set that that name carried unfortunate connotations in some dialects of the Hindi language, and we wanted to ensure our return to the plane was done thoughtfully and respectfully. So, as an early step in building the Aetherdrift set, we engaged a group of subject-matter and language experts to work with us and help guide us as we built the set. Our goal was to find a way to honor the spirit of the plane and its real-world inspiration.

Here's what our consultants said. When we created the original Kaladesh set, we chose the word "kala-" (kalā, kah-LAH) as a word that can mean "tomorrow" or "art," combined with "-desh," meaning "home" or "country." Unfortunately, the term "kala" (kālā, KAH-lah) can also be associated with the meaning "black," and often carries derogatory colorist and racist connotations when applied to a person.

We didn't want that connotation to hang over this plane each time we visited it. Instead, we decided to take Aetherdrift as our opportunity to implement a new name.

We generated a host of possible names for the plane and reviewed them with the same group of consultants. We discussed the pros and cons of each of the candidate names and worked through their pronunciations, meanings, and connotations. Together, we selected Avishkar, from the Hindi word "aavishkar" meaning "invention." The consultants vetted the name and its spelling, and the decision was made.

Another decision was whether we'd want to go back and change the lore so that this plane was always named Avishkar. We chose not to go that route. The canon is this: This setting was, in fact, historically named Kaladesh before this time in the continuity, but its name has now become Avishkar due to in-world story events. Check out our Planeswalker's Guide to Aetherdrift for more about the in-world downfall of the Consulate that led to the name change among the denizens of Avishkar.

Similarly, we have not changed historical terminology in past products or cards. The name of the set Kaladesh remains Kaladesh, Kaladesh Remastered will still be searchable as Kaladesh Remastered, and past cards like Invasion of Kaladesh or Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh will keep those names. We will not use the term "Kaladesh" anymore going forward except to refer to past products or the time in the storyline when Avishkar bore its previous name.

We hope you love Aetherdrift and the plane of Avishkar as much as we do.

lol wut? they're renaming kaladesh?
Maybe you shouldn't fucking use real world languages for this shit.

This is so pathetic LUL.

Edit : Does this mean they have to change the Official names of The Flip Chandra (Flames of Kaladesh) and "Invasion of Kaladesh"

God Maro is suck a pathetic cuck faggot.

Ignoring how WotC is deliberately ignoring how its word choice has a benign meaning 'black' here could just as easily refer to evil, darkness, or in this case the land literally being black for some reason.

Given that WotC made a card based on the Black Gate in the LotR licensed set, it sure looks to me like they know this is a nonissue but either want to virtue signal or head off blackmail from their diversity consultants.

The reason they're changing the name is retarded, but if they're gonna do it, the way they're doing it is probably the least offensive way the could've done it -- make it so the game characters change the name after the successful revolt against the Consulate, the old cards and lore aren't being retconned or errata'd, and the official card database will still reference the set Kaladesh and cards with Kaladesh in their names the same as it always has:

So, I'm gonna repost it because the average consoomer has the attention span and the memory of a goldfish.

So, what should a company do, when it is in a soon to be dead industry, when it has mostly missed the digital revolution, when it has been underperforming for decades and whose stock value is slowly but surely aiming for the floor?

The ones that think they are paying attention will scream "Lay off 20% of the workforce on Christmas eve! Then, lay off more just one year later!" Wrong answer.

The ones who think they're real clever will say "(Allegedly) lie to your shareholders and open yourself to a class action lawsuit!" Wrong again.

Obviously, the real answer is to reduce your revenue by increasing your DEI consulting costs and, as a result of the ensuing PR disaster, losing even more of that consumer base you hate so much. What were you thinking you fucking bigots?

new Lorwyn
The thing only retards ask for.

Tribal sets are always fucking trash, I can't wait for everyone to fucking hype the shit out of "THE TRIBAL SYNERGIES MIGHT WORK THIS TIME" just to fall flat on it's face it did in fucking Bloomburrow, and the 2 Innistrad Sets, and Ixalan.

Shit not even Fully Powered Elfball with Geas' Cradle is powerful enough for Legacy, and Modern Humans is Dead as a deck.

I’d argue that a lot of sets that are tribal based are actually really successful because the synergies are good in limited and bad everywhere else. Bloomburrow was the first set in ages that people said felt like a magic set, and even if the decks like humans and elves aren’t good NOW, people still play them because creature type matters is an easy to understand concept that you can get into. decks don’t have to be good to make people happy, which is horseshoe theory in magic displayed at its best. Idiots and geniuses alike can say “haha frog deck go ribbit”

I dunno man naming your expansion Niggertown in another language is a pretty fucking based move

View attachment 6741063

WOTC made an expansion for MTG in 2016 based on steampunk fantasy not-india, using the Indian terms for "Tomorrow" + "City." "Kala" + "desh." Kaladesh.

Apparently, "Kala" is also Hindi slang for nigger.

"Niggertown." They named their Indian steampunk world "Niggertown" in India's language.

So they renamed it, after hiring a bunch of overpriced woke consultants, as "Avishkar," which is the Hindi word for "Invention" with a letter removed.

Of course, Reddit Jannies wish you to know that disagreeing with the glorious and insightful not-racists that named their world "Niggertown" is not allowed because they are, in fact, correct and glorious and insightful, it's not cultural appropriation when they do it, and you all can't behave.
