I'm sure the designers are fairly progressive in and of themselves, but I somehow don't think it was the designers who decided all of the women need to look more unrealistically mannish and that the story of "interdimensional rifts in reality" needed to be cutesy-cuddly pop-culture-slop-fests in which everyone realizes the strength of friendship and how together, we can overcome anything!!!!
We know they have (or had, in the recent past) at least a couple of trannies on the design staff, and there's at least one woman - Melissa Del Toro or whatever her name is* - so the rot is truly pervasive. It wouldn't surprise me if the entire department working on MtG is behind these decisions, whether because they actively support them or because they're too agreeable or cowed to oppose them.

The game will implode before this stuff goes away. Hasbro has realized it's infinitely more profitable to turn Magic in the Funko Pops of TCGs anyway, and like all other pop culture ephemera there's a definite expiration date on when Magic stops being "the thing" and the crowds move on. I'd be more concerned whether the game is still enjoyable at that point, or whether it will all be overpowered and nonsensical EDH slop.

*Not sure if she counts because she comes off as being kind of autistic.

It feels a lot less terrible if you see how bad most other MTGO content is presented: completely unedited stream recordings. Magic Aids blasts through a MTGO League tournament report in 15 minutes with a dub-over while still explaining the thoughts behind each decision he makes, meanwhile too many other MTGO videos are going to be 1-3 hours long and be half full of streamer chatter.
No that's fair for sure, i said as much in the original post. i understand you need to edit for the video not to be an hour long. i just wish there was some middle ground? Somewhere between the lightning fast maxor-esque editing. And just slamming two hours of unedited stream on the channel. I think it's too much, but i could understand how someone would like it, hell i'd probably watch it if he wasn't faking being a lisping autist for some reason.

Melissa DeTora was a former pro player so she gets a pass.

A good, recent example of how deep the rot goes is the authors of the most recent B&R announcement:
Carmen Klomparens 🔺 (power word: Sean Handy) Senior Game Designer
Jadine Klomparens 🔺 Lead Play Designer / Principal Game Designer
Arya Karamchandani 🔺 (power word: Kabir Karamchandani? idk for sure) Game Designer / Gross Indian
Gavin Verhey Principal MTG Designer
Dave Finseth Senior Product Manager

Also:
the Pauper Format Panel has one Paige Smith on it
Cassie LaBelle (power word: Chas Andres) is a Magic finance writer who's been doing it for at least 15 years now

Yes "Carmen" and "Jadine" are gay married lol. I don't care if a tranny was world champion and won back-to-back Pro Tours, I don't want them working at WOTC. Hell I don't want them playing Magic period.

Unfortunately... WOTC is headquartered in Seattle and it really shows. I genuinely believe they are true believers and will never get rid of it naturally. It likely would take an edict from Hasbro to extirpate the trannies from WOTC and I don't see that happening any time soon.

Only way that happens is if the game starts hemorrhaging money, which I don't believe will happen soon until Universe Beyond hits its tipping point with the paypigs, or Hasbro gets bought out and the man in charge fires the majority of WOTC employees because he knows that its full of tranny cancer, which is unlikely to happen.

Either way, I'll happily use and get cheap proxies from random chinks than ever give them money.

Then why fuck with LOTR? Just cause they can?
I'm pretty sure they got away with it because the current custodian to the Tolkien estate, Simon Tolkien I think, is a die-heart shitlib and hates the fact that his dogshit detective novels didn't sell as much as his grandpa's books.

Maybe that. He's certainly not as attached to his grandfather's legacy like Christopher was. I wouldn't be surprised if he's less shitlib and more just wants the $$$$.

I can't get into Magic because the rules are too different now. I have channeled this sentiment into a card:

Mana Burn Is Real (0)
Enchantment, white
Kicker (w)
As phases and steps end, players lose life equal to the converted mana left unspent in their respective mana pools.
If the kicker was paid, they also discard that many cards.
"Why, you kids! Back in my day..."

They did a mana burn card.

Does this mean Designated Shitting Streets are canonical in the MtG universe?

Designated Shitting Street
Land
This land enters tapped.
Tap, pay 1 life: Add B. Put a fecal counter on this land.
Imagine the Smell - 2BB, Sacrifice this land: Creatures your opponents control get -1/-1 until end of turn for each fecal counter on this land.

They can even experiment with sub token types, instead of a Food token they can have:

Indian Street Food
3, Sacrifice: You gain 3 life and gain a poison counter.

Treasure tokens can be Apple gift cards.

So what would be the Chinese equivalent re-skin of Chinese gutter oil? It sounds like an analogy to the Phyrexian Glistening Oil.

Also, since WotC stopped printing cards in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, they'd probably be less worried about the Chinese censors too.

Same as the Indian Street Food but it's an actual card and has the ability to be played from the graveyard.

So is the reason everything revolves around +1/+1 counters now because they just dont have time to try things because they have to make 6 sets a year. Or is that just what players want.

In eons prior, sets weren't designed to have ten archetypes in every single one. Many weren't even designed to feature color-pairing benefits, hence why multicolored cards were something of a rarity for a long long time.

They now have a template, and a large portion of that template is shuffling the +1/+1 counters theme between GW and UG. It's why you see blue get a 2-mana 3/3 with defender and some means of attacking through it in every single set, as well as a 4-mana tuck spell. They do not have the creative juices or bandwidth to churn out 6-7 sets a year, the template covers up for it, and the A-team B-team dynamic becomes pretty apparent. The A-team this year looks to have churned out Final Fantasy and Avatar, and the B-team's marks are everywhere else. The latter team repeats, repeats, repeats - hence why "do X but twice" has become ubiquitous.

Are the cards at least fun and interesting in like... the bubble of +1/+1 gameplay? Or is it just the same stuff over and over?
