It won't, the deck will just switch to Frantic Inventory and Cling to dust, Oracle is the card that needs to go. Putting an Alternate Win-con on a 2 mana Triggered ability was a mistake. The deck would probably be fine Without Thassa's Oracle (1UUU and a state based passive is a much higher bar than UU)

You're right but WotC will not go for Oracle if they can help it. Older and supporting cards tend to be banned first (Bridge from Below in place of Hogaak, Emrakul in place of Aetherworks Marvel) because banning cards from a relatively new set will hurt sales of booster packs (is "primary market" a term here?).

Theros was 2 sets ago, any selling they have done is probably finished by now

Jump Start Update:
Ultimately went 2-3 on the white deck.

Currently 3-1 on a black resurrection, black vampire deck. Haven't been able to get the 1/1 that turns into a 5/5 gargoyle to pop yet. Usually, I just flood the battlefield with cheap 2/1 flyers and plink my opponent to death. Honestly, there's not enough resurrection cards to make the mill/rezz mechanics worthwhile (I could have gone double rezz deck, but I actually wanted to win lol).

For myself. First go: Smashing #4 + Legion #4. around 2-3 I think. Kind of fun, but couldn't lock onto much of a play. These two themes suck together as one wants to go wide and the other wants to sac things. Saw Lena multiple games, but never did see Etali.

Second go round: Dinosaurs #2 + Heavily Armored #2 - Now THIS was fun, especially as I pretty consistently drew Cathars' Crusade every game AND I pulled the dino pack with Ghalta. Only real loss I had was when I attacked with my thundering spineback (which I NEEDED to keep alive to generate tokens and crusade triggers) into an opponent's deathtouch like an idiot. Played about... 4 games I think before exiting. My most fun jumpstart deck so far.

Third round: Well-read #2 + Above the Clouds #4. Confirmed, pure blue is still broken as I went about 5 and 1 before stopping. The one game I lost was a game where I had about the worst draw possible and couldn't stop my opponent's green counter increase. Yes, Kira + Ormos is insane - almost as insane as Tome Anima + Library Larcenist. I felt kind of dirty playing this one as it's clearly one of the strongest combinations you can get and anybody else will be lucky to put a stop to you given the deck selections out there. This deck is fun if you're just pure evil.

I wonder if friends can play jumpstart decks against each other.

Personally, I've managed to avoid those types. The obnoxious people I run into are the ones who bitch when they lose or whine about how everything good that happens to you is unfair/because of luck. Thank God these are people have been few in my experience.

That's how you spot the former Yugioh kids.

Wizards sure does love their tokens. View attachment 945554

Wakanda was Kangs!

Anybody else take a look at that letter?

What a contradiction! I especially love the last part. WotC is supposed to chase down every random nigger playing their game and ask how the company can help them, knowing that inevitably the answer would be "give us free shit"; basically, this last line is just a demand that any black person should be able to play MtG free of charge.

I think this is my new favorite card considering that it was printed like a week after a fistful of cards were banned for being waysis.

I am 100% legitimately, not-sarcastically confused here about exactly what anyone is supposed to do about (random group here) not playing a game. Like, I get a very valid beef that a high-ranked black pro player got completely skipped in invites to a tournament that he should've qualified for, that's just shoddy treatment. But rando black guy playing in the local game store should, what, be invited to tournaments because he's black?

Jumpstart is one of the worst limited ideas ever.

"Lets put two bad piles of cards into a worse pile of bad cards with no synergy!"

The hilarity of the fact you can get a "Spirit deck" and a "Flying deck" and have yourself 70% of a Modern deck against limited decks.

Edit : HAHAHAHA, I got a "SPELL SLINGER tm" list with Dual Caster mage..and not a single good spell to copy.

Me : Dualcaster Mage copying Shock as my big play
Opponent : Thragtusk.

Totally on Par design here.

OH boo hoo. STFU. You got standard for your broken OP shit, let those who enjoy playing an actual game have their fun.

I am not discussing "Broken OP shit" I am talking decks that actually function. The Spellslinger piles, the Tree Hugger Piles, the Dragon Piles..do not function.

Do not waste your money getting Jumpstart piles.

Dunno what you mean, my dragon pile was doing pretty good - though I paired it up with spellslingers so there was much burn fun to be had. Do you know how mana works?

I do wonder who built the curve in them as they seem heavily weighted towards 3+ spells - and arena loves its mana screw/flood.

But then I'm currently dominating with a devils + phyrexia pull (hey, both love sacrificing) and actually came back to win a game when I was at 2 and my opponent at 48 at one point.

Maybe it's just not for you. :P

Limited -> Flying creatures.
I mean really, anything in a low power format that has 2 "Giant Flying threats" is going to be face roll easy, cause I had a dragon/reanimator deck that I went undefeated with too. The games weren't fun though because The only piles that can really face it are the heavy kill spell spell decks or other giant fliers.

It would be for me if half the piles weren't absolute fucking crap, I absolutely love variant formats. Hell I got the Ixalan Explorers thing and wish it were and Planechase were in MTGO because they are amazing fun.

Or are you really going to tell me the spellcaster piles that have less "Spell Slinging" than the god damn legion piles is "good" If they are going to hide information and not let me know what exactly is in a pile before I pick it then the piles need to have a far narrower gulf in power.

Here's your decklists.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the launch is perfect. I thought the paper jumpstart said something about a short description of every theme to help players make a choice. It would have been nice had the game pop up that desc - and I mean something actually useful instead of that "brutalize your enemies will kill spells, and terrifying savage monsters, etc" kind of shit. I mean actually helpful stuff like, "this pack focuses on the late game and playing big creatures then sacrificing smaller ones to make them bigger."

I do wonder if they've gimped the design of rarer packs on purpose. I picked a Liliana pack just for the land (and her) and it could not get off the ground at all. (most fun game is when I faced someone else with the Liliana pack and we had no hands and barely any board). Meanwhile my 2 best decks which played the most consistently have been combinations of 2 common themes.

(though I am sad I got stuck Carnifex Demon instead of Sheoldred - it's... fine, helped me out in a clutch in one game, but it also hits your side too hard - compared with Sheoldred who is all gas)

Yes but you don't get that information as you pick your packs.

For instance, Elves 1 vs Elves 2

The lack of Elvish Archdruid is a mavvie alteration in power.

That is not what i am talking about, I am talking about knowing the full list of each pack before I pick that pack. not "Well you could get 2 different elf packs with 2 different sets of cards so it is just RNG!" If they are going to do that the packs need to be on par with each other, not one with a very powerful Lord and one with a mediocre Death Touch creature, Elvish Arcdruid + Hoof obscenely powerful.

But then I'm currently dominating with a devils + phyrexia pull (hey, both love sacrificing) and actually came back to win a game when I was at 2 and my opponent at 48 at one point.

I built a Well Read + Archaeology (blue & blue artifact) deck with so much card draw that I was basically able to run my opponent out of gas after he dominated for the first 3/4ths of the game. The fun part of Jumpstart--to me--is the surprising balance. I have yet to play a single game that was won/lost on a bomb card or a lucky draw. It has always come down to skill, and the decisions you made throughout the game.

You are full of shit, this doesn't even happen in good limited formats.
Earlier today I was running my devilish deck. Let me remind you, the deck runs on cards like this...
1595291405648.png 1595291438958.png 1595291464152.png

My opponent pulled out unicorns and dropped this bloody pain in the arse.
1595291587874.png

Know what? I still won. Despite my opponent dropping a silver bullet bomb against me.

And? your example doesn't mean that "EVERY GAME EVER" is good, because guess what there is this thing called "Bad draws" where no matter how great the deck is you can get an absolute chud of a draw.

God knows that happens in 1v1 arena all the god damn time because of their shitty tinkering with hands.

Also, You do know that Vanilla version of Havoc Jester out powers basically the entirety of the Unicorn deck right? If they Have Emeil, and Valorous Steed and 7 Mana to put counters on both of them they could have a good block, like without specifically Emeil, The deck can not block Spriteful Prankster very well.

It does prove that not "EVERY GAME EVER" is trash either. And yeah, bad draws do happen - it happens even if you're not playing jumpstart - welcome to card games.

Faith's Fetters. Valorous Stance. Pile blocking. Do you... know how the game is played? Not even counting what was their 2nd pack (which I can't remember right now because nothing it pained me like that enchantment - I think it was another white pack though).
