I was reading the Has search gotten worse? thread in this subforum. Near the end of the thread a lot of people were complaining about how YouTube doesn't listen to them wanting to stop being recommended a channel.

Well there's a great browser addon that helps you with this;

BlockTube

For Firefox

For Chrome

What BlockTube can do:
- Blocks videos from showing up in sidebar and homepage, based on; Channel Uploader, Video Length, or Title Keywords
- Blocks community posts (I'm not sure if this is a thing anymore because I haven't seen them thanks to blocktube, they were really fucking annoying)

As you can see, I have a lot of stuff blocked. Because well, it's just so easy to block stuff.

One of the more interesting features is the video length blocking, you could get rid of all the videos under 10 minutes long, and I find that clears up a lot of low-tier content.

So not a fan of LockPickingLawyer then I guess.
I don't use the video length blocker feature a lot, but it works great. When I do use it, it's to find hour long stuff. You just keep scroooooling through your homepage and it will only pop up the documentaries.

That's neat but most people watch youtube on their phones, gaming consoles, or smart TVs.
Yeah but mobile posters ruined the internet.

I used that already, but I used it to block all mainstream media channels. Literally, try this: block all media channels, search donald trump and the page will keep loading and refreshing for a full minute until it gets other verified media channels that you haven't blocked yet
That's funny and typical. Good way to get rid of all the mainstream shill accounts? But you'd end up blocking 200 channels.
If I want political news I just go to bitchute at this point.

I tried to block mr beast but I still see his videos.
I tried this this and you're right, but if you go into your video watch history and block his video in that panel, it will work. Probably something to do with how he's promoted by YouTube and his videos operate slightly differently than others.

I wish I can stop getting recommended videos I've already watched.
And I have YT on my Switch so I can put videos on instead of lame-ass TV so the add-on won't help too much unless it can carry over.

For phones i use Brave to watch YouTube, it blocks the ads, and let's you listen to the video with the app minimized, or even with the screen locked.

The only bad thing is being unable to watch 60fps videos.
The brave browser rocks. If you watch movies on a website like putlockers or something you can put the video in a pop up window and use your other apps.

Yeah but mobile posters ruined the internet.
I can't take anyone seriously imagining them hunched over their gaming desktop in the living room sitting on their PewDiePie gaming chair typing a reply to me.

I don't get it, why would you not just use Freetube?

E: now that I think about it this is yet another great way to datamine users. "Oh hey, James Paulson clicked a recommended video that's several dozen after the cutoff for what we show on the webpage! He must be running some clientside blocking! Let's use this to sell product!"

There was a time Youtube insisted on putting the RLM starwars reviews (during the absolute height of "fuck george, abrams is saving star wars" retardedness) in every single video I visited and it only stopped because I had to use some adblock tricks to block anything that linked to these videos.
