I remembered the show was pretty big growing up, and it spawned some good memes, not to mention Bryan Cranston rising popularity afterwards. But the show was pretty forgotten at least from my perspective, of course there aren't shortage of garbage sitcoms at that time. But the show was a lot more spicy than 99% of those.

So what happened?

Yeah, I love recommending this show to people, especially people that have not seen it since it aired because its genuinely a lot better than people remember.

Malcolm in the Middle aged well as a dysfunctional family sitcom. Malcolm talking to the audience to provide exposition and context was genius from a director's standpoint. I wonder if those moments were superimposed or if he did that in real time while the cast just do their thing.

Even Malcolm himself forgot the show.

Pro wrestler-turned family annihilator Chris Benoit is wrestling Bret Hart, a childhood favorite of mine, in the original intro (no doubt edited out now, I haven't even checked). I always think of that when the show comes on. It's a quick clip within a montage, but us nerds zero in on shit like that.

I'll add that maybe the show doesn't have publicity for being lower middle white class that's basically a pariah in this day and age (whites can only be poor if redneck/addicts).
Heisenburg.
There were some great edits of the shows back in the past. If anything it should help because they are too different to compete against each other.

They make fun of Hal because he's lower middle class. That joke was well played.

I love Malcom in the middle. I remember hearing they were supposed to make some kind of revival of it but I will assume it will suck like all revivals.

I always liked Malcolm in the Middle. I remember my mom wasn't really a big fan of us watching it. She thought the kids were bad influences but she didn't stop us from watching it. It's one of those shows that comes up from time to time when you remember it then it disappears again.

It took me the longest time to actually be able to take Breaking Bad seriously because of him. It was extremely hard to disassociate him with the goofy Malcolm in the Middle dad.

Everyone talks about Bryan Cranston going onto Breaking Bad but do people know that Frankie Muniz (Malcolm) is a NASCAR driver now?

He also doesn't remember a lot of Malcom in the middle because of head injuries from racing.

And who remember the Alaskan dollars?
I remember another gag from an episode where Dewey had to take care of a pet hamster. He put the hamster in a moving ball, filled it with food and sent it away. If you pay attention to a few episodes after that one, you could see that same hamster ball just rolling along for a couple seconds.

The one where the grandma won't go away so they scare her away with hal's black friends is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a sitcom to this day.

That one Black guy just straight up hitting on her in that seductive voice just sent me over the edge.

He's my spirit animal.

They have been talking about a revival, the kid who played Dewey won't be coming back for it because he's done with Hollywood, good for him.
