I think a Malfoid rewrite would need to be moderately extensive, not just to fit for a girl, but also because Malfoy is a bit of a wasted character in the later books.

Even in book 6, where shit is getting real and he joined the SS, his main antagonism throughout the bulk of the book is shittalking Ron's Quidditch prowess.

Generally there were some plotthreads with huge potential in the Half Blood Prince, best book btw, but most if not all are fumbled in Deathly Hallows.

Draco could have been an amazing character with that setup, sent on a suicide mission, his parents held hostage, being terrified by actually interacting with Voldemort and not just hearing stories about him...

There is some kind of payoff for that, but it is minimal and not reaching the potential of the great setup.

So imo it's also possible for Harry and Malfoid to end up together but not having the relationship between them be completely healthy. I mean, even though they do actually love each other, the damage has been done. But it's too nuanced a take for the HP universe though so a complete redemption suits the story more.
I think it could be done, just not easily without a lot of rewriting. Whether a complete redemption or not.

Taking ideas from Chuckwagon (cant @ or reply to :( ) would be to make the first three books events center on Malfoid wanting to be friends with Potter, the jealousy/envy of a wanting to be his friend rather than those she sees as lesser.

Around the events of the third books comes to realize that she needs to change for that to happen. Maybe tenous friends at best by the end.

Fourth book can start the actual romance when the childhood naivety wears off.

Probably best if it was a mixture pov tho.

You wouldn't even have to have Malfoy(id) have some big opinion shift and make them suddenly one of the good guys that loves mudbloods; you could just make them see the violence and hatred that permeates Voldy's worldview and have him/her realize that they are just a destructive force that doesn't want to actually build anything after it's all torn down. They still love wizardry deeply and feel superior about it, but Voldy's actions make them disillusioned in his view of the future, which causes them to eventually break rank and help the good guys.

Absolutely, there is also the issue that Voldemort wants to rule over or even exterminate the Muggles, which is a far cry from the elitism and casual bigotry of Draco.

Why do they even want to rule over the Muggles? Wizards in the HP world are pretty much playing life with cheat codes. They don't need anything from the mundane world.

They can fucking teleport, have a slave race of devoted servants, can live incredibly long, transform objects without energy loss...

Troon seething:

Absolutely yearnless.

This troon is a known provacateur, and teeters on the edge of being a dramacow I'd keep an eye out for his antics but it's honestly draining finding milk on this guy he's more sad than funny.
also like any retard tranny provocateur he has terrible opsec:

The pipeline of 'mundane looking male who could probably be happy and successful with a little self-improvement' to 'mentally shattered misanthropic tranny scum' strikes again.

From what I remember it's not that they want to rule over muggles it's that they want to eliminate them and muggleborns. They then want to spread the ideology across the world.

Grindewald, the guy Dumbledore beat who helped start WW2 was the dude who wanted to rule over muggles, using similar logic to what you said. Wizards have it easy and are just inherently more powerful than muggles so why shouldn't they rule? Dumbledore even believed the same thing, thinking it was for the good of the world until he and Grindewald disagreed on how far to go for their ideology. With Grindewald thinking nothing was too far for the sake of the Greater Good of Humanity, while Dumbledore had doubts.

There's a reason, like someone pointed out a few pages ago that people in universe called Voldemort a lesser Grindewald. Grindewalds ideology made some sense and the main issue wizards had with him was the fact that the man had no moral boundaries in the pursuit of that goal.

Voldemort is just blatantly evil, especially after his resurrection where it's implied that he's very different from before he died. The books kind of show you how charismatic young Tom Riddle was, and I think that's done to contrast how fucking terrifying and inhuman Voldemort became when he resurrected. It's also why the movies don't do him justice, he's just a pale dude without a nose. When the books described him as essentially a monster that triggers the uncanny valley for people looking at him.

Here's how he's described in Book 4
But then, through the mist in front of him, he saw, with an icy surge of terror, the dark outline of a man, tall and skeletally thin, rising slowly from inside the cauldron.
‘Robe me,’ said the high, cold voice from behind the steam, and Wormtail, sobbing and moaning, still cradling his mutilated arm, scrambled to pick up the black robes from the ground, got to his feet, reached up, and pulled them one-handed over his master’s head.
The thin man stepped out of the cauldron, staring at Harry … and Harry stared back into the face that had haunted his nightmares for three years. Whiter than a skull, with wide livid scarlet eyes, and a nose that was as flat as a snake’s, with slits for nostrils …
Lord Voldemort had risen again.

And this is him later in Half Blood Prince after he TRIES to make himself look a little more human (it doesn't work)

People compare Voldemort to Hitler cus "muh holocaust" but he's really not. That's Grindewald.

A thought that occurs to me is that if Draco really is based on a girl who bullied JKR, then she probably isn't happy about all the male fans who are now essentially yearning for her bully and declaring her incredibly desirable. That is not the outcome you are setting out to create when you write your bully in as a pathetic villain. That just makes it more hilarious that the trans hate Malfoid so much, they are rejecting a character that potentially annoys the Queen of all Genocide.
Draco in leather pants surpasses gender apparently. And if the uber woke are still blinded by their JKR hatred, that just means more Malfoid fun for the rest of us.
Not exactly sure why she believes that draco doesn’t have a heart of gold, kind of a baseless assertion. When the chips were down he still did the good thing, and that’s what a heart of gold actually looks like IRL
My reading of it is that she only saw Draco as an asshole and a bully who cared mostly about his reputation more than anything else. Which means even the simple tsundere stuff around Harry is probably showing more of a character than JKR thought up. Is this what they call hidden depths?

Malfoid is like a onion many layers and brings tears to your eyes.

man watching Koreans and Japanese artists get into drawing Malfoid art was magical.
Amazing how much fun fandom can be when troons and boring activists are not around to ruin the fun.

Despite that, I'm getting tired of seeing a section of anime tourist fags smelling their own farts on how their fanfiction nonsense is the bestest evar and JK Rowling should have made it into some anime bullshit. Like can we just enjoy cute tsundere racist waifu Malfoid without that tumblr tier fandom discourse? They're are slowly getting to the point of being similar to the delusional shippers who think their headcanons are correct and everyone should follow their interpretation.
Not to mention the obnoxious gender war nonsense being posted about it, like shut up faggots you are partaking in the old yaoi shipper classic of genderbending one guy in a gay ship, get over yourselves and just simply enjoy the Malfoid art and memes

Anyway people who still put green eyes on Malfoid just outs niggas as bandwagon tourists. Fuck you it's supposed to be GREY!

As someone from the RWBY thread, this is a tale as old as time. Some hacks just can't help themselves and self aggrandize at times telling that their overcomplicated horseshit is miles better than the original author's overcomplicated horseshit. Anthony LoGatto is a phenotype when it comes to the writefag scene from what I observe. It honestly reminds me of the Fixing RWBY guy chastising the original creators fumbling storylines only to do the same thing or worse in his fixfics. That and him having a Madoka Fanfic where one of the girls become a desert storm US army sniper in a "coming-of-age way".

Yeah some people like to suck themselves off way to much. The anime shit isn't even why Malfoid works, the story changes and ideas people have for it are what make the scenarios interesting.

Didn't the fixing RWBY guy crash the fuck out when his community tried to hijack his project or something?

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the RWBY Alternative guy, who's also equally spergy, the man rewrote RWBY beyond recognition that it can be considered a new unrelated IP.

Agreed completely. I consider the pre-Voldemort views of pureblood elitists like the Malfoys to be more like how ye olde European aristocracy would've viewed outsiders to their kingdoms and the lowest classes within; generally don't like them, might even be contemptuous of them, but also not actively seeking their enslavement or extermination. I think virtually any upper-class Brit circa 1900 would certainly be considered a racist and an imperialist by today's standard but 99% of them didn't think 'oh we really should just exterminate the Irish, then the various other savages inhabiting our empire'. The same could be said of a German Junker from the same era, those guys disdained Slavs (and it was proven not just in their WW1 propaganda vs. Russia but also their discriminatory laws against the Poles in their empire) but nobody was thinking like Hitler and seeking to kill or enslave them all for lebensraum.

It's not even without precedent for Malfoid to end up considering that maybe there are some 'good ones' among the Muggles/Muggleborns. I mentioned it before, but the family's founding patriarch Armand canonically worked for William the Conqueror as his court wizard and was rewarded with Malfoy Manor for it. The first Lucius Malfoy was said to have wanted to marry Elizabeth I and hexed her to forever stay the famous 'Virgin Queen' when she spurned him. I think it'd be a reasonably 'realistic' positive development for her views to evolve from the standard pureblood elitism of her family, through both affection for Harry and repulsion to Voldemort's excesses, into one which remains proud of her magical heritage but takes a 'live and let live, separately' attitude to Muggles and offers respect to those Muggleborns who have shown they're worthy of it through their actions.

It would also IMO represent an evolution in the general Slytherin view that doesn't contradict the core traits of their house (the way that suddenly becoming a 'nice' house would) - from increasingly warped & genocidal blood supremacism, to a more straightforward meritocracy that honestly acknowledges ambition & skill in half-bloods/Muggleborns who show themselves equal to the purebloods. Blood purity after all isn't actually given as a trait for Slytherin (unlike ambition or cunning), it's just a hang-up of the house founder, and it's mentioned in IIRC the 7th book that although Muggle-born Slytherins were still rare, they did already exist by the time of the series.

Malfoid's redemption then can be mirrored by a refinement of the Slytherin ideal in general: purging itself of Salazar Slytherin's prejudices, which have taken their final twisted malformation in Voldemort's insanely destructive & ultimately also self-destructive (proven by not just his own horrific disfiguring of his original good looks but also the crippling inbreeding of his mother's family) worldview, to take up a healthier form. One which still honors wizarding tradition & bloodlines, while recognizing and accepting those of less pure blood who show they can match those old families in power and make positive contributions to enhance the Wizarding World. That's also how the best aristocracies of history worked - they weren't the ones limited to an insular handful of families trying to hoard power forever (leading to stagnation, risking overthrow from within & weakness vs. more innovative outsiders) but the ones which identified talent in knights or even commoners, integrated them into the system and rewarded them on their merits, empowering the kingdom with said merits in the process.

Yeah, Grindelwald was supposed to be Wizard Hitler in the story. Voldemort is more like a Neo-Nazi and not even a George Lincoln Rockwell figure at that (too off-putting and unpopular even before his first death), I would say he's more like this weird composite of Jim Jones and William Luther Pierce. I also figure his pre-1st death appearance was probably something like Star Wars' Anakin after he's become Darth Vader but before getting his ass kicked by Obi-Wan, still mostly handsome and charismatic to an extent (since he was able to gather enough Death Eaters to menace the Ministry & Order of the Phoenix) but with warning signs of having used excessive dark magic & especially creating Horcruxes, which is confirmed to be one of the most personally ruinous types of magic you can do in HP.

Draco in leather pants surpasses gender apparently.
At risk of retreading what other people have already said, Draco in leather pants was such a hated thing because it was a reflection of the growing 50 Shades flavor of female-oriented abuse fantasy presented as romance. There was very rarely any character growth or change reflected in a reworked story arc, it was usually just emotionally unwell writers playing through their fantasies about being obsessed with men who treat them like shit. The way Malfoid yearners use the pairing couldn't be further from what made the old Draco stuff reviled.
