Should we build massive computing complexes over historical sites?

  • No, that's gay and retarded

That's the other thing, why is it named after some royal queer? Can't name it the "Andrew Jackson Digital Gateway"?
It's just named after the county where it would be built, which was in turn named after one of the British princes back in the 18th century when the county was formed. Too bad the colony didn't keep the Shires as the local government structure instead.

The east coast of Virginia has a lot of old names from the colonial period because it's the oldest English colony and was by far the most populous and influential state up until the 1830s or so. These parts of the state were settled for over two hundred years by the time of the Civil War.

Kind of like how so many towns in New England are named after towns in England proper. but not so much as you move further west.

36,000 men lived, died, and had illicit gay buttsex under cover of night on that battlefield. This is a vile, shameful desecration of their memory and sacred honor.
Only the Union sought man asses though. The Confederates named it Bull Run because they brought their wives to be cucked by VNION BVLLS.

Amazon buys nuclear-powered data center from Talen

"Talen Energy announced its sale of a 960-megawatt data center campus to cloud service provider Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of Amazon, for $650 million."

These niggaz are cutting out the middle man

"The data center, Cumulus Data Assets, sits on a 1,200-acre campus in Pennsylvania and is directly powered by the adjacent Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, which generates 2.5 gigawatts of power."

Oh well, easy come easy go. But at least I have a part of the tree Lee stood next to when he delivered his farewell address.

I propose a name change to Biggus Dickus.

Biggus Dickus at Manassas.
Come on now it's [current year], we can;t keep naming stuff after guys, We should name it after his wife instead....

On topic, this just seems retarded all round. There are so many other places this could be built that aren't directly next to a historic site, why would anyone (other than the faggot landowners) think it's a good idea to start shit with historical autists?

Here is a thing I don't understand, why don't people build servers and data centers on Iceland?

Electricity there is dirt cheap and green, since it mostly comes from geothermal sources from the active volcanoes and geology. The temperature is low most of the year down to very very cold in the winter which would keep the costs from cooling the servers down. And it is in the middle of the Atlantic which means that both EU and NA would have similar latency when accessing the servers.

Distance, if I had to wager a guess. Possibly a lack of qualified people as well.

The energy savings alone would justify it though. Iceland has such low energy prices that a good chunk of their GDP comes from processing bauxite into aluminium because it is literally cheaper to send entire cargo ships full of ore there to be processed than to pay for local electricity in most mines. The bigger the data center the bigger the possible savings.

Sounds more like these people just don't have imagination.
