Maniac goes on killing spree while 911 dispatcher lectures caller on gun rights

He was just exercising his second amendment rights apparently. Never mind that he was in the process of murdering three people and setting fires.

"Naomi Bettis called 911 Saturday after spotting her neighbor, who she recognized but did not know by name, walking outside his home with an AR-15 rifle, reported the Denver Post.

However, the 911 dispatcher declined to send police and reminded Bettis that Colorado allows gun owners to legally and publicly carry their firearms out in the open.

Police eventually did respond — but not until 33-year-old Noah Harpham had already shot two women and a man with the rifle that had concerned his neighbor at least several minutes "

Yeah, I was going to say. That's her only reaction until shots are fired. If we called the cops every time you saw a rifle in the south the police would never get time to eat donuts.
The thing is, like 99% of the time you see someone with a legal gun they're not going to do shit. This is sadly that 1%. I'm with the people not blaming the dispatcher, you can't dispatch police on someone doing something legal.
AR-15's are designed for hunting one thing.

People.
Clearly I don't know shit about guns.

Cops get called in on bogus calls all the time. I'm sure tax payers would be willing to foot the bill in order for police to do their job if the Cops save 1 person out of every 1,000.

She should have made the call and tried to get more information not preach to the person calling about an emergency. The operator has zero knowledge of what is happening so how can she make a call that someone is doing something legal/illegal?

To make a long story short.

The M-16 is a direct descendant of the AR-15 rifle. Which was an adaptation of the rifle version (AR-10) of the Stoner 63 weapons system, made by Eugene Stoner & Cadillac Gauge back in the 60's. It's a system designed to make anything from a light carbine to a tripod mounted MG depending on what you bolted to the main receiver.

The AR-15 was not designed for hunting game from it initial inception. The weapon family is designed to make it as logistically, tactically & strategically easy to kill people as quickly and effectively as possible.

History agrees with you.

The Browning Automatic rifle? America.
The M16/stoner/.223 weapons system? America.
The M18 Claymore mine? America.
40 mm. Grenades? America.
Napalm? Dow Chemical, America.
The Roller cannon? First Richard Gatling, then General Electric, USA.
The Atomic bomb? America.

And that's just of the top of my head. The USA excels at new and inventive ways to easily turn people into paint.

Which at heart, is the main problem.
