Manual Car Master Race thread

I love me manuals in luxury cars. There's just something not right with that combo but I love it.
Those are quite the fun odd balls when you see a fully optioned facelift E-Klasse W212 sedan or A207 convertible with a stick. The only drawback? The most powerful engine option is a turbo charged 2 liter fourbanger with a whooping 184HP. That poor thing has to haul a body which weighs at least 1700 kg, but give it a long enough Autobahn stretch and it will reach ~140 MPH.

If it hasn't been said yet, you're a giant fucking soy faggot if you own an automatic sports car. Manual chads stay supreme.
I've passed up on nice vintage cars over them having automatic trannies, especially the gay-ass push-button ones on old Chryslers. Imagine having the first gen Plymouth Fury be your childhood dream car and hunting for a good one with a legit title for years only to discover that it's a piece of shit with a push-button automatic.

Another negative point is you will be lumped in with those douchebags that hold the clutch in and rev their engine at red lights.

what?
how is that even possible, unless you're using the clutch and the gas to keep you in place on an incline?

i've driven a manual my entire adult life, and i've never even tried to put my two feet on three pedals while stopped.

There's a reason why automatic transmissions are also known as "trannies" and manual transmissions aren't.

Mercedes have the best feeling manual transmissions is all I'm gonna tell you.
I am guesing you have never driven a JK jeep then. Because the mercedes NSC370 they put in them is the clunkiest and most fragile POS ever made. They work ok in low hp europoor cars but they where a time bomb in heavy 285hp burger mobiles. They went back to Aisin made units after that nightmare for the next generation of jeeps.

My old w123 had a stick and that was an problem free transmission. But thats from back when they cared about making quality cars not status symbols.

Seriously just google “car thief can't drive manual” and enjoy all the videos. Car thieves are fucking stupid.
A family member had her VW truck hotwired--not too surprising, as it was in a work parking lot all day and the truck was rustic enough that the locks were more of a suggestion and the wires were just under the dash, not hidden by a panel or anything.

However, the thieves got as far as a loading dock, then ditched it. Presumably they were going to turn around in there but couldn't find reverse in an old VW.

I prefer manual transmission because repairs are cheaper and I need something to do with my hands, but it's really silly to brag about being able to drive stick. It's like walking in with a tie on and telling everyone JUST SO YOU KNOW, THIS ISN'T A CLIP-ON. Useful skill but weird to make a big deal about.

Since the majority of Americans drive automatics, you are severely limiting your ability to sell your car if you don't drive it until its a stationary home for raccoons.
False
Any car with a manual option has its manual version sell for much more. Once popular models become scarce enough, the autos start selling for more because people manual swap them.

When people say "cars lose value" they mean that autos are dime a dozen, and people looking for autos don't care whether they're buying a Corolla or civic as long as it's cheap.

Being a manual master race and all, I enjoy it quite a bit. Paired with a zippy vehicle and some backroads makes for a good time. I also find it satisfactory to rev match with clean controlled shifting that a computer doesn't control.

Sing along if you know the words

If you're happy and you know it dump the clutch
If you're happy and you know it dump the clutch
If you're happy and you know it then the street will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it dump the clutch

There was an image floating around /o/ with a transmission painted baby blue with "It's ma'am" painted on it. Couldn't find it. Have this image I made on the toilet. An actual shitpost.

I've never heard of automatics exclusively referred to as "trannies". They are about 41% less fun to drive for classic car enthusiasts, though. Would unironically rather have three on the tree if it's just something to drive for fun.

I always make at least one suprise break when driving automatic. (Revs go up, my left foot automatically goes for the clutch that is now the break pedal). Other than that, I love automatics.

I daily drive a manual and seeing other drivers rage and tailgate at me when I'm coasting in neutral to try to time red lights never stops being funny. People driving slushboxes and CVT's sure seem to love their hard accelerations and braking.

I also really enjoy how much of an advantage driving stick has with snow and ice and just let the transmission do all of the work instead of braking and losing traction.

That's when engineers outranked accountants and bean counters.

Handbrake. Or as mutts call it, the "emergency brake". Manual drivers are generally trained to put it on when stopped for more than a moment, especially on an incline, so you don't have to juggle your feet when you move away.

Some modern manuals have hill start assist. This gives you a couple of seconds to move your foot from the brake to the gas pedal. It's mainly SUVs that do this, but there are a few compacts with this feature as well.

My daily has it, but I still use the handbrake for hill starts out of habit.

The 10th gen Honda Civic manual transmissions have that feature. It's very annoying. I'm sure the current gen Civic also has it.

I took a Type R for a test drive. What the fuck is with this autoblipping shit that I was told I couldn't turn off? Rev matching is part of the fun of driving manual.
