We have the highlight feature, which is pretty helpful for catching up on long threads, but would it be possible to extend this feature so I can tag other users I want to see posts from in a thread? Sometimes insightful or informative posts get out-rated by funny ones, or there's two really good posts on the same day and only one gets picked for highlighting. For example, in the Coronavirus Megathread some recipe on making sourdough might get highlighted, but Otterly didn't get as many votes so when I click "Next Highlight" it jumps straight past his post which I'm more interested in seeing. If it's possible, this could extend to users I've followed, so I don't miss posts from users whose posts you enjoy while skipping through a thread.

Just a drunken thought, feel free to critique.

Might be a good idea for a browser extension if you wanted to do it on the fly. List of users crossed with list of threads (or any thread) and slap a CSS style/sprinkling of JS on it.

Aren't Bender's drunken thoughts supposed to be his most lucid?
It's either hungover thoughts or drunken thoughts, and the hungover thoughts are basically "I need to get drunk to cure my hangover".

AFAIK extensions can only access data currently on the page. If it's a popular thread the next highlight can be a few pages away, so if a user whose post you want to see has a post on the next page the extension will have no way of knowing, so you'll still jump straight past their post when you click "next highlight" or the arrow.
Use the advanced search functions: that's usually what I do.
I don't think that's helpful for when you're first going through a thread though. If I want to follow the posts from you three in a thread I'd have to do an advanced search for each of you, sort by date and flick through highlights while checking if missed one of your posts and then open it. I guess I didn't explain it well enough, but I meant following an arbitrary amount of users' posts in a single thread.
