March for science activists denounce bombing "oppressed people." (ISIS) - We all knew this was coming eventually.

ISIS are gud bois dey din du nuffin. just tryn 2 git money fo dem programs!

The organization behind the “March for Science” tweeted the Trump administration’s bombing Islamic State fighters in Afghanistan is “an example of how science is weaponized against marginalized people.”

The march’s Twitter account sent out the tweet lamenting the bombing in reply to a post by activist Zellie Imani with the Black Liberation Collective — a group of students dedicated to “bringing about freedom and liberation for all Black people.”

Remember when people were saying it was wrong headed and nearly fascist to say that you're either with us or with the terrorists? Back in the Dubya years?

And NOW THESE DUMB MOTHERFUCKERS ARE LITERALLY WITH THE TERRORISTS!

The main problem is not that he created something but how others applied his creation, the world's first stable and practical high explosive, somebody realised that they could stick into a shell and use it in war to give more bang for your buck, and most of the people who do that sort of thing they are not scientists (in the classic sense), they are engineers and inventors.

Every single improvement in knowledge leads to weapons. It's just how humans are. Seriously, just Einstein's mass-energy equivalence formula, e=mc^2. Once people actually understood it, their first thought was wow, we could really blow shit up good with this.

There is something rather depressing about that facet of the human condition, I mean for all our creativeness and for all our accomplishments we still look for better ways to kill each other.

You did once say that real science explodes.

Get a load of this article that was linked in the first one
Gill was part of the wing of conference organizers advocating for scientists and activists to take on broader issues in science, including issues of racial diversity in science, women’s equality, and immigration policy,” STAT reported.

"Issues in science including women's equality and immigration policy." God damn.

We didn't get to the top of the food chain by politely asking the cow if he wanted to become a burger. We got there by being the craziest motherfucker in the room. Darwin was just too polite to say it.

Depressing, sure, but the inbuilt desire to fight and win is part of us. We simply have the choice to not let it rule us.

Agent Orange was developed originally as a way to facilitate growth in soy beans (which it did) but the chemist who developed it discovered that in large doses it lead to defoliation.

Science is a tool for the discovery of more information, what we do with that information is up to humanity. Ultimately we should support and allow the scientific community to discover and expand our knowledge of our Universe to improve our lives.

Someone tried to argue with me recently that all of the higher ups in Flint were White. I showed them that picture, and they sperged about "light skinned privlege".

>March for Women taken over by Islamists like Linda Sarsour, push hijabis as feminist icons
>March for Science taken over by pro-ISIS activists buttmad about them getting bombed

At this point any left-wing protest march is borderline guaranteed to turn into a Muslim front, tbh. The left is going to destroy itself by aligning with radical Islam for political expediency and driving away anyone who has even a modicum of self-awareness.
Is that feminst lady some sort of idiot convert? I know of very few people now or from a few generations back that would choose a surname that means roach.

I don't know why people think that stupidity is even plausible. There's absolutely no reason for it to cost $300 million. It is just a big, dumb bomb. $170,000 is a fucking bargain for what it does.

Someone could claim that the bomb uses the souls of puppies and infants as explosive filling and people might still buy it.

This is why, working in the sector I do, I'm actually a fan of how much the US spends on defense. To be blunt, DARPA and private R&D basically make the NSF obsolete when it comes to bang for the buck and gross amount of tech we enjoy. That being said, the NSF should get a shot in the arm as far as funding, but it should be relegated to "stuff we should have, but isn't profitable." Relying on it for anything more is maddening.

It's a combination of ignorance, the chinese phone game, cynicism, and outright lies.

I'll take three.
