There's still a field between completely foregoing sex/romance and being so focused on it that, when one is sexually/romantically inactive, it takes a major toll on one's life.

You're completely missing the point. It takes a major toll even when I'm active. This is because messing with modern western women is like messing with a bunch of scorpions or hornets - they are insane scum who only wants to be humiliated and crushed by apes.

I think it's also important to try to at least attempt to approach these difficulties in a healthy way-- to not encourage yourself to become bitter and misanthropic in response to life being frustrating or unfair.

Out of curiosity, what pursuits have you attempted to substitute for that of sex/romance?

This holds nothing concrete. It's a set of good wishes. You might have as well said that it's good to drink less or eat less since it means I spend less money.
