Movie had insane attention to detail and was fun over all liked it a lot. Also Spike from the wrecking crew looked like baked Alaska pitvipers and all, I had to hold back my laughter when I saw him

Illumination are known for middling movies, yeah, but most importantly, they are known for wildly profitable movies.Movie was fine. Had its moments but definitely leaned on the typical dullness you see with Illumination movies. Nintendo properties have always been coveted for big screen tie ins and they really went with one of the worst studios for the job![]()
I don't blame Nintendo for being cagey. Hollywood (and american film studios in general) is notorious for never EVER using the ENTIRE source material when it comes to vidya-related stuff and always seems to add their own stupid bullshit. Hell, even non-vidya things like Godzilla get raped by pretentious horseshit no one gives two fucks about.Plus, as hard as it might be to believe, Illumination was probably the only one to meet Nintendo on their own terms. Like, you talk to Pixar for example and they’re probably going to demand a bigger cut of ownership and merchandise. Nintendo is much too cagey for that.
The same probably goes for most other studios – Sony Animation, Blue Sky, Dreamworks, etc. What Nintendo wanted out of the deal and what they wanted out of the deal didn’t line up.
Uwe Boll's Postal
Illumination is owned by Universal and is their premier animation division, they only recently acquired DreamWorks. Given that Nintendo has a theme park with Universal, I think the film rights just came as second nature. Why go with Pixar/Disney when your park is designed by the rival company?Illumination are known for middling movies, yeah, but most importantly, they are known for wildly profitable movies.

Illumination does good enough work and was probably the closest to what Nintendo wanted that it’s who they went with. I mean, Minions is only one of the single most profitable things on earth right now. It’s not like they’re slumming it.
Well, Universal is the lesser of all evils in comparison to other major movie studio, especially Disney. Still, they're both evil as with many other major movie studio.Illumination is owned by Universal and is their premier animation division, they only recently acquired DreamWorks. Universal lacks big IP, which is probably why. They have Jurassic Park and Back To The Future, along with tons of other b-c tier IPs, but nothing to really stand against a Star Wars, Marvel, Harry Potter, or even a DC Comics. Most of their park is material they got the rights to from WB, Fox, Viacom, and others.Well, Universal is the lesser of all evils in comparison to other major movie studio, especially Disney. IT will be like his 6/1 moment! The real question is if it's good enough for Moviebob to watch during his mother's funeral
Jurassic Park, Fast & Furious, Jason Bourne, Despicable Me, Back to the Future and Jaws (and in some rare cares, Woody Woodpecker and Land Before Time) are the reasons why Universal is still alive in the first place. Other than that, they'll use whatever chances to release more B-to-C-grade-tier low budget comedies and horrors (even without either respective Apatow or Blumhouse labels).Universal lacks big IP, which is probably why. I can't wait for him to justify it in his book while talking about how the Mario movie is actually a serious allegory about Hillary Clinton vs Trump and how it against the Sonic movie is just like the Iraq warThe real question is if it's good enough for Moviebob to watch during his mother's funeral
Wanted to make a joke, but I cannot find the video GameXplain made where they did the 2020 election with Mario characters, portraying Biden as good boy Mario, and Donald as greedy Wario.I can't wait for him to justify it in his book while talking about how the Mario movie is actually a serious allegory about Hillary Clinton vs Trump and how it against the Sonic movie is just like the Iraq war
I mean it's not too far off from MovieBob who viewed Mario as an epic political thriller (part of why he was malding over the cast reveal because it wasn't the serious live action version he wanted). That and he compared the console wars to Vietnam and Mario 3's reveal to JFK's death and 9/11.Wanted to make a joke, but I cannot find the video GameXplain made where they did the 2020 election with Mario characters, portraying Biden as good boy Mario, and Donald as greedy Wario.
I've never gotten why Mario 3 beign akin to JFK or 9/11. Because of it being huge for him? Or why exactly?I mean it's not too far off from MovieBob who viewed Mario as an epic political thriller (part of why he was malding over the cast reveal because it wasn't the serious live action version he wanted). Just putting this out there for anyone ITT who doesn't know about blob.
Every time I get a hankering to see what's up with Blob, I just end up reading 2 pages of screencaps of tweets of his and thinking "yep, that's enough for a few months". He is one of the lolcows that saturates me the hardest with their brand of lunacy.I mean it's not too far off from MovieBob who viewed Mario as an epic political thriller (part of why he was malding over the cast reveal because it wasn't the serious live action version he wanted).
