Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

So this is basically confirmed at this point, right? Miyamoto just doesn't give a fuck, does whatever he likes and laughs at anyone who gives a shit cause they just keep buying games with his characters?
Yeah he doesn't give a shit. At most he just wouldn't want any shit that deviates too far from regular Mario stuff since that is partly why he hates the Mario rpgs and the like.

this shouldn't be news to anyone i don't think

To be fair, from the same guy who played some of the stupidest characters ever, one of them being Sid the Sloth from the Ice Age franchise, as well as playing Joe "Pest" Vargas in The Pest, it's safe to say that like the characters he's played over the years, he too is stupid.
how do you forget "to wong foo"?

And yet I keep hearing he enjoyed the 90's SMB movie...

I think he just doesn't like RPG's tbh
I could be misremembering this but wasn't there like some shit somewhere where he said the og mario movie was TOO CLOSE to Mario's games? Mightve been one of those shitpost jokes but still.

No matter what people think of it's overall quality, OG Mario movie had one of the best scenes in cinematic history.
Prove me fucking wrong you can't lmao

Shit I just realized knowing Illumination and modern hollywoods track record of inserting shit into related films they're probably gonna do a shitty remake of this scene god damn it.
At least they can't recreate Dennis hopper saying "monkey" in a moment of genuineelation upon seeing a dude get mutated into a funny little monkey.

Illumination is pretty much the reason why people don't take animation seriously and act as if animation is something made for children (and if it was for adults, it has to be jaded, run-of-the-mill sitcom with soulless designs or character movement) or some other bullshit. It's the equivalent to modern day horror movies (i.e. Chernobyl Diaries, Dead Silence, Unfriended, The Bye-Bye Man, The Snowman, Slender Man, The Happening, The Wicker Man 2006, or any Conjuring film) where they have to implement a loud sound effect in post-production to utilize a jump scare. Illumination is animation's equivalent to any fast food restaurant from the likes of McDonalds, Burger King, or Little Caesars where they add in gimmicky, albeit unhealthy, tricks to make their items.

Also, the 1993 movie is still a classic.

Illumination helps in that but animation was never taken seriously much by the industry even before Illumination came around especially since it's been proven that when animated films are discussed among awards show voters, they discuss it based on how they only see it with their kids and shit.

Also just because Illumination is shit, it really is dumb to use it to defend the shitty 90s movie which basically set the bar very low for video game movies and was literally made to test if it could hurt the Mario brand rather than from a place of actual passion.

Does anyone else wish this was a sequel to the 1993 film? Just have Pratt and Day be Mario jr and Luigi jr or explain away their younger ages with magic or whatever.

But we start off in a green, idyllic Mushroom Kingdom but out there in Dinosaur World there's still wasteland and in this wasteland lies the Dino World version of Las Vegas, which is run by not Koopa but by Wario, played by... Danny DeVito, who plays him as a total sleazy letch who sits on a throne in the middle of the casino he owns, surrounded by showgirls.

But greedy as he is he decided Vegas is not enough and tries his hand at taking over the Mushroom Kingdom by kidnapping Peach, the daughter of Lance Hendrickson's mushroom king.

Make it a comedy contrasting more typical Mario places with Las Vegas being like NYC in the 1993 film, I think that'd be pretty funny.

I'm hoping after the credits roll, it cuts to Luigi just vacuuming ghosts or whatever he does and Wario busts in all like "Luigi, I'm here to talk to you about the WarioWare initiative." in Danny Devitos voice
And by the time the Metroid movie comes out, Wario pops up at the end credits leading to a couple more films in the Nintendo Cinematic Universe.

Leading to Nintendo: Endgame where they fight Master Hand and it leads to the Smash Bros multiverse.
Which means Detective Pikachu and both Sonic movies will have to be included in the Nintendo Cinematic Universe.
