Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

Remember that Grinch movie Illumination made? Neither do I.
It was meh as fuck apparently. Surprisingly it was still a big success much like all Illumination movies.
Illumination seems to either be a trusted brand among families or is really good at marketing. Or both. So this movie will likely do well regardless of how bad it is.
This guy is the head of story for this movie...

We're doomed...
A skinny and more horrific MovieBlob. Yeah, its probably gonna blow. And with a face like that, they probably are going to use the gay 80s cartoon lore for it just like MovieBob always wanted.

I never got the hate for the Jim Carey Grinch. I think he did a better job than what Mike Myers "attempted" to do with Cat In The Hat. Even though the Grinch is an asshole, he comes off like-able due to his sarcasm.
Its a bit too raunchy and ridiculous in parts but that just adds to the charm imo. The world and set design is also amazing as well as the extra level of detail they went into making costumes, makeup and props, as well as making the Grinch feel like a real multidimensional character with a history (which admittedly got ridiculous when they reached his "school years"), but it was fun. And he got the girl and cucked the mayor which was also nice. Its loaded with charm despite the ridiculousness of it all. It also has a surprising amount of easter eggs, and even the Grinch's overuse of machinery and technical know how was apparently a reference to some old Seuss cartoons.

It would.

Going off-topic a bit, just wanted to point out fans have restored this anime of the past.
>Mario gets cucked by a dog
Ouch.

This kind of sums up all of their output, honestly. If the minions hadn't become a huge meme with the first Despicable Me, would anyone have really remembered it and it's sequels? Or the Secret Life of Pets? What about that talent show movie that I don't remember the name of and don't care enough to look up the title. Oh, and their take on the Lorax, aside from the fucked up Tumblr fandom? Mediocre and forgettable, is how I describe their output.

That's because Universal was desperate in needs of a successful animated company in their hands once they lost DreamWorks to Paramount. Sure, they tried to release their animated outputs to theatres such as Curious George and Deperaux, but are minor successes. However, after Fox's own Melanderi founded Illumination, Universal found its culling and they truck a deal with each other. Despicable Me's marketing became all over the place due to the lol xd randum humor from the minions, and this was in during the era of the lol xd randum humor going on around this time that was trying to please not just little children, but also the jaded Hot Topic goth teens that also enjoy Fred, Annoying Orange, Scrat from Ice Age, Invader Zim, Panty & Stocking, Foamy the Squirrel, OSU, Touhou, among many others.

Jim Carey Grinch is the thing almost everyone agrees is good, actually. It’s the rest of the film that’s the issue. Making the Whos a bunch of overly-materialistic fucks, the odd amount of raunchy humor, the uncanny valley of the other characters…really goes against the original message and theme of the story.

Do I need to remind people that thanks to Jim Carrey, there were Grinch-fuckers several years before Illumination got their hands on it?

Reactions: Trilby
Probably because I grew up on it as a toddler, but I preferred the Chuck Jones Lorax. Illumination Lorax is a typical soulless cashgrab.

Kinda hoping this movie isn't especially bad or even mediocre, but not hopeful.

Actually DePatie-Freleng did The Lorax, but close, some of Jones' staffers where on this like Maurice Noble.

>implying he had less screen time in monsters vs aliens
Should I tell you?
Look man, I already had to see that scene in the Chip and Dale reboot that involved him voicing four characters at once all doing the laugh. Between that and Santa Inc, I’ve had my fill of the guy.

I mean I'm not saying I blame you or anything, like I agree with you here. I really don't want Seth Rogen to be in any project myself. Like holy shit, I'd rather not be reminded about Santa Inc. at all.
