Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

Some of the faces are a bit cursed but it actually looks kinda cool lol.
The soundtrack in the bit where Mario meets toad was pretty generic though.

Considering that Mario looks to be a fish out of water, Anon might have been telling the truth...

The trailer comes out today, can't wait for the salt and disappointment.
Just watched it myself. Honestly it looks a lot more promising than I expected. I thought Jack Black as Bowser was a really fucking weird choice at first, but I'll be damned, it works.

Chris Pratt voicing Mario still feels weird, but I'm sure it's something you can get used to.

Well okay that actually turned out better than I thought it would. It has those moments that often appear in 3D animated movies where they'll do a gag (like the penguins) and follow it up with a quiet shot where they expect you to laugh but it has my attention.

Calling it now Jack Black as Bowser is going to be the most entertaining thing in the movie.

Ehh, it’s okay, the animation is appropriately crisp and colourful I really like Jacks delivery and they honestly pulled off the designs pretty well looking different from pre rendered trailers we get with unique designs. I do wonder how much of the universe they’ll incorporate and whether they can differentiate itself from the games and be a decent family film, surprisingly good so far.

I still think of the live action Mario movie. I can't believe it took them this long to make a CGI animated Mario movie.

Toads realistic teeth look less cursed in motion, thank god lmao.

Out of all of Illumination's films, this one is probably the most visually stunning.

That said it's still probably gonna be shit or at most sub-par like all of their other films, but my curiosity is peaked enough for me to check it out when it's in theaters.

I found it weird that Jack Black is the only good voice in the ENG teaser, since he's the only one actually 'voice acting' as the character. Everyone else is voicing as themselves, with Chris Pratt is the very obvious one. Nobody learned from the Lion King remake, but eh, big names bring money. How did the fucking Sonic movies got that bit right of getting actual voice actors?

Sure, I dig it. Jack Black really works as Bowser here, like hot damn, he sold me there. Mario and Toad, though, uh... well, at least we know Mario's from the real(?) world, so I suppose that'll help ease it a bit.

Hopefully Nintendo did rein in Illumination enough to make it to where you watch it and forget it's Illumination.

Surprisingly pleased with this. Could they seriously have not tried to get an even vaguely "Mario" voice actor though??

If anything, the last part of the trailer with Luigi running away from clones of Dry Bones was a nice subplot that I’d like to see flesh out in the upcoming movie.

Also, Toad sounds a little too energetic.
