Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

As I recall, it wasn’t “not marrying him” and more “I’m gonna abandon you on the moon with Bowser” thing.
It was supposed to be a joke I think, but quite frankly it was a very poor joke in the context of "Having just finished the final boss" and the fact that Mario was always portrayed as nice and respectful.

If she did that to like Wario nobody would have been mad.

I'd respect the complaints a lot more if it was in the frame of "this looks like your typical shitty modern kids movie" and not some Movieblob-esque "they're ruining my precious Peach!"
Also MovieBob is going to furiously jerk off to Girlboss Peach Stepping on his mirco dick, It is almost a perfect fusion of all the fetishes he has.

Like if you thought Moviebob was some SJW diehard, this guy has been online longer and has always been a stick in the mud about everything. Like there's just having a username, and then there's living it, aylmao. Of course, here's hoping he fulfills becoming an hero like one of his heroes from this weeaboo faggotry news website.

I was going to save this for the thread this was intended for, but I've just got to say it. ANN was the kind of place that would have gotten their dick in a knot over this being about video games and "non-artsy animu" years ago before corporate gender war faggotry.

Tbh, I also dont understand why people are so against Pratt's voice yet Day's is fine, both sound nothing like the original, and the acting sounds fine for both

Then there's John Leguizamo that complains about Latinx representation

Why do nerds keep bringing stuff from the comics up, do you think the Illumination Mario movie with Chris Pratt is supposed to cater to hardcore fans who know about all obscure Mario media?
They are literally putting characters like Swanky Kong and Spike from Wrecking Crew on the movie and referencing the Brooklyn origins that movieblob orgasm so much about it, so "catering to hardcore fans who know about all obscure Mario media" could mean anything really.
Also I find hilarious, after complaining for a decade about Mario mandates and the franchise getting stale, the first attempt they try to do something different people start complaining about "pedowood" tainting the franchise, literally this meme ad infinitum:

Putting kind of obscure characters in the background is literally just there for guys to make Clickbait “10 Things You Missed In The Mario Trailer!” videos and to make soy guys think the movie is being worked on by people really passionate about the franchise. If this were true, they wouldn’t have gotten celebrity voices for all the characters that sound like shit.

I don't care about the voice actors being celebrities sounding like shit, because the version of the movie in my language they sound alright, this probably applies to any non-anglo viewer, such is the amazing world of voice acting in animation.

Peach being strong is fine, but it does feel like they erased a bit of her personality, she's always had a bit of a ditzy Belle persona that contrasted with when she was competent and made her unique, at least imo, I'm no Mario expert.
It's implied she might be putting on a façade of being an airhead depending on the game/series she's in. Here's one example that, although it failed, there was an attempt made. (Timecoded.)

Then there's John Leguizamo that complains about Latinx representation
John Leguizamo pretends to have the “not like those other Latinos” aura because no one in the higher ups in Hollywood is calling him for A-list movies where he doesn’t sound like an erratic, self-centered person that wants you to focus on his misguided American politics.

He literally pretended to play an Italian in the poorly reviewed Super Mario Bros. live action movie, yet he was outshined by Bob Hoskins who at least looked like he was trying to act like Mario even if he hated it.

Few hypotheses:

1. Dub faggotry persists even from the Japanese video game/anime western fandom world.
2. There's probably a case of "native authenticity" going on here. Day is famous for being in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which as its title states, it's set in the East Coast of the US, and that gives him more credit for being Mario. I don't even know what state or region of the country Pratt is from, but that's none of my business.
3. This gem was posted in the ANN thread:
Folks, just come out and admit the truth. The reason why you didn't want Chris Pratt to get this role has nothing to do with "justice for voice actors". It is because you dislike Chris Pratt. Why?
Because he attends an evangelical church.
Because he didn't attend some Joe Biden for president fundraiser.
Because his brother and other close family members are police and military.
Because he once claimed that Hollywood doesn't make enough movies that reflected his background that he could personally identify with anymore.
And because of a bunch of other things that indicates that Pratt's political and social views are "middle-of-the-road" - like 70% of the population of the country that he lives in - instead of being on the left wing margins like everyone in Hollywood has to pretend to be these days in order to keep from getting screamed at by the Twitter mob. Ooops. Twitter is now passe. Make that the Mastodon mob now I guess?

Stop it with the legitimate-sounding reasons why you can't stand Chris Pratt in this role. Because everyone knows the real reason. Take Jack Black. His most famous role was ... playing a Chinese panda. Black isn't Chinese. The only actual Asian performers in the Kung Fu Panda trilogy - James Hong, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan - barely had lines. And now Jack Black is playing Bowser instead of a Japanese actor. Does anyone care about Black's repeated history of whitewashing and Asian erasure? Nope. But I guarantee you that if Black went to Chris Pratt's church everyone would. Or at least they would claim to.
That's all I can think of.

I dislike Pratt's direction because he sounds just passable and feels off. Days voice just feels like a natural fit for Luigi.

I would say this is more on the Director and Nintendo's fault since Nintendo for some reason really wants Mario to have a very miscast voice given the voice he had in the Japanese version also sounds extremely off.

I’m amazed they weren’t immediately banned by ANN for that statement.

I'm surprised too. I guess being bought out by Kodansha really had to make them loosen up their policies and practices on the forums. Of course, they do leave the dirty work for their bottom feeders and suck ups, as BuckBrokenButtBlues and his fellow buckies are showing.

To be fair, not the first time Bob Hoskins did a city-living american-ish voice.

Now you're being too harsh. Mario's voice acting quality maybe iffy, but I'd say Charlie Day makes a great Luigi. I like Jack's bowser and everyone else is pretty alright.
