Luigi's Mansion definitely doesn't need to be a movie, but a streaming special like Werewolf By Night? That's the ticket.Seems Mario is kinda sidelined.

Yeah, I feel like that concept would get stretched pretty thin over 90 minutes, but would also be a little too involved to have as a B-plot.Luigi's Mansion definitely doesn't need to be a movie, but a streaming special like Werewolf By Night? That's the ticket.
I’ve seen a lot of people say that the main issue with Peach is that she’s not written to be Peach, she’s written to be Daisy.
Or, if they wanted to stick to the whole "girlboss" shtick, have both Luigi AND Peach be kidnapped, and have Mario, Toad and Daisy go on an adventure instead. Both Mario and Daisy would have something to prove - Mario turning from "regular" Mario to "super" Mario, Daisy from being the second-fiddle "literally who?" princess to someone who actually is proven to have the qualities to rule. And Luigi can hatch up a scheme with Peach to get out of Bowser's prison for both of them to get a change to shine as well. But what do I know? I'm not Miyamoto or Meledandri.it's a shame that Peach can't just be Peach. You can still be a girly girl and be cool. It'd be much funnier for Peach to be this dainty, girly princess who gets revealed to be able to hold her own in a fight instead of GIRLS GET IT DONE the whole way through.
I read it somewhere else, but I agree that a funnier way to do the obstacle scene would be for Peach to get her Toadies to take the obstacle course as a demonstration. You'd basically be able to squeeze Minions, Fall Guys and all the stuff that kids love to pieces into that one moment, with Toadies failing, falling, screaming like they do in the game, pushing each other off on narrow spaces, stacking on each other Goomba-style, etc., and maybe at the end of it Captain Toad or Toadette completes it and Peach confidently says it can be done while Mario struggles to take in the massacre he just witnessed. At least that way it appeals to kids in your kid's movie.Yep, expected as much...
No, fuck you, it's my turn to be a fucking sperg and collect my puzzle pieces.
Peach in her solo game was shown as using her emotions in incredibly comedic ways from rage that looks cute more than anything to crying rivers and everything in between. She is of course more than capable of clearing that obstacle course. But her body language is NOTHING like Peach. She would be all smiles, use her parasol for a good chunk of it and move almost like a ballerina with that ditzy smile of hers and break that mock bowser with her butt. Such a wasted opportunity for comedic effect as well.
I could buy her body language from Daisy, but not fucking Peach.
This would've been true ten years ago. Today, it's just obvious that even if Mario gets to do something “heroic” he'll be overshadowed by Peach. Think of the Buzz Light-year movie last year, this woke shit is everywhere.Have you seen a movie before? Cause this is just a dime a dozen for films where a schmuck is set up to be a new hero even when more stronger people are present. It’s an extremely basic movie setup.
He’s probably going to sperg out in his review and play with his Mario toys and talk about how this film is the best movie ever or something
With more references than we needed and less plot than we deserved, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is perhaps everything that you would expect it to be. Directors Horvath and Jelenic have managed to bring the Mushroom Kingdom to life in ways 8-bit Super Mario veterans never could have imagined, even if the vision does get a little overstuffed in the process. That being said, the cast of familiar faces, Tyler's clued-in score, and the sheer amount happening in every frame were enough to keep us engaged from start to finish and we are curious to see what lap two inevitably brings.
Not me thinking this was Doug the Nostalgia Critic
This guy seems like a sperg but it's a decent overview of the good and bad of the reviews so far. I did hear a couple conflicting things like "there are no jokes" vs. "20 jokes a minute" but for the most part it seems like the movie leans pretty heavily on easter eggs and references and the characters and story suffer for it. A couple reviews even seemed to imply kids might be bored watching this (they won't be, iPad kids are retarded).
All that said, I imagine most of us here (as adults) only plan on watching this at some point for the sake of pretty graphics and "I saw Yoshi and I CLAPPED" and it sounds like that's mostly what the movie gets right. It's a shame it can't be actually good but considering this is an Illumination picture it's more surprising it's not utter dogshit. In ten years when we've gotten 5 Mario movies, 2 Donkey Kong movies, 2 Zelda movies, and a Kirby movie, we can all look back at this point and wish the movie would have been worse to prevent the incoming Marvel replacement.
Dreamcastguy is definitely on the duller, rougher side of the spectrum. For whatever reason he's never invested in a pop filter so you can constantly hear his mic peaking and every little breath he takes in-between every other sentence.

It’s worded kinda over-the-top, but I do get what he’s talking about, at least in terms of the first film. The Sonic movie being called a "meditation on male loneliness and isolation" is so funny. Like it's Joker or something.
Hearing a bit of everything. I expect it to be fun enough for kids that just want constant stimulation, and the references will generate multiple "I saw thing and clapped!" moments from the nostalgias. But it's also a very by the numbers animated feature for kids it seems and most adults will probably be bored with it. It doesn't seem particularly offensive or egregious, I am of course pissed at the Peach characterization since it's clearly forbidden in western media to have any sort of female character be dainty and not be treated as a joke, but she doesn't seem to be a cunt about it, so she isn't full on girl boss, it's just... well she's just Daisy.Okay, well played. Still, I'm very worried about this new movie, and would just be a fun kids movie.
Seems Mario is kinda sidelined.

You can tell so blatantly that Mario being a second fiddle in his fucking movie to not Daisy and the Kondo soundtrack being butchered with shitty pop was 2 of the main things that the faggot committee managed to push through the Nintendo supervisers. Pretty dissapointed on Miyamoto that he relented to some cocksucker named Dave who told him that "you can't have a damsel in distress to market this!" or "kids love pop music, they won't get that instrumental shit from your slant eyed composer!". I imagine it will do decent enough though. This would've been true ten years ago. Today, it's just obvious that even if Mario gets to do something “heroic” he'll be overshadowed by Peach. The one that caught my attention the most, because it was the first one I saw, was made by Mutahar/SomeOrdinaryGamers.This isn't even good enough for the spoony thread (his long time stalker) but just saw this hahah.

Does he do that thing where he randomly brings up the Sonic movies just to shit on them?MovieBob's review dropped.
Of course he cannot say one bad word against his God, but you can sense he is non-committal and probably disappointed. But looking on the bright side, the fact that MovieBob doesn't praise it to the sky means there is no SJW shit: no lesbian nudge-nudge wink-wink, no transsexual Birdo, and probably not that much girlboss shit. The movie might not be memorable, or something that you want to watch again, but at least it is safe to bring kids to.
