Mario Bros. Set to Jump to Big Screen in Movie Deal with Universal’s Illumination - Paging Movie Bob, Paging Movie Bob...

Oh shit I had that one too, did you get the stupid ass AT&T "PHONES WILL UNITE AND DIVIRSIFY US INTO A GOUP OF BROWNSKINS" Globohomo one?
Yup.

It's kind of a shame a place where you're supposed to escape from real life for a little while doesn't even allow you to do that anymore.

I got there about 30 minutes early but only because I knew the line to the concession stand was gonna be brutal, so I didn't see the pre-show stuff at all. Was for the best.

The trailers sucked ass, though. Shortened Beast Wars, that new Spider-Verse trailer, Migration, Trolls 3, and Blue Beetle. Holy shit, cinema's screwed.

Dude that looked like such fucking Garbage, fucking Council of Rick's tier bullshit.
It was just such a bad trailer in general. I never watched the first film to begin with because the animation gave my eyes a stroke, but the trailer for the first movie wasn't bad at all. This one was just godawful and I'm just glad I never got into this new franchise, and I most likely never will.

Back to the movie, I have it on good authority that this movie is surpassing expectations for theaters, least locally. Everyone knew it was going to be big, but this is huge. Theaters are actually making legit bank off of it, some of the biggest turnout they've seen post-Coof.

That was all from yesterday, and we're on Saturday. It's gonna be huge this Easter weekend. A friend of mine believes this may hit a billion dollars, but I don't know about that. It's possible, but we have a whole month to see this happen, so gonna wait. Still, interesting.

I think it will do a billion, I imagine good word of mouth will help carry it a bit. It's not perfect by any means but if I had kids and they wanted to go again I would say yes. I have a Normie friend going with her Gamer Boyfriend tonight, I am curious what she will think.

I will say the music direction and soundtrack were pretty on spot. The only times they shoved the Game music directly in your face is when it made sense like Bowser playing the Underground theme on the Piano while he was talking with Kamek...and the fucking DK Rap being DK's Entrance music.

Not for me. I was so uninterested that I didn't even stay for the credits scenes.
People stay for end credits shit? I stopped doing that years ago.

It's a habit for me, now, but we had been doing that as a family before the MCU shit started pulling it off. I believe it started with the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, we happened to just hang around and saw the end credits scene and were like "Huh, neat". We played the "name game" with it before we naturally used it as a way to chat amongst each other until the lights come on. A lot of movies don't pull an end credits scene after all this time, and that's perfectly okay.

Oh yeah, did anyone post Vinny's little review of it? I don't remember seeing it here.

It's funny how it essentially has the same stinger as Godzilla '98.

Does Leguizamo embrace being Pest?
He's nothing like his titular character in The Pest, yet he behaves like a pest.

A couple trailers for the new Spiderverse, the new TMNT and Transformers Beast Wars (albeit the latter's more abridged 30-second spot) were also spotted in my Dungeons & Dragons screening in a different theatre that's also close to mine. Most of the trailers I've seen are as insufferable as most of the movies coming out today.

My screening of this movie had the new TMNT, Transformers Beast Wars, the new Spiderverse, the sigma male Ryan Gosling in a new Barbie movie, the new bitchass Pixar movie about water and fire, Fast X (another Fast & Furious shit), the new Trolls and Illumination's next generic abomination known as Migration. Fuck modern cinema. All of them (except for the Barbie movie, which I will see because Ryan Gosling) are absolute cash grabbing dumpster fires.

Oh figured I'd bring this up 'cause it's kinda funny. So the theater I went to has a little daycare/play area for kids in which it has one of those screens where it rotates through different posters of a single movie, this time for the Super Mario Bros. All these kids were flocking around it, and right beside that screen was one for The Little Mermaid, but no one paid it any attention. Even the large cardboard cutout didn't grab any girl's attention because it's just a fucking dark blue background with "Ariel" being in shadow and you can't see shit.

Anyone else notice that at their theater?

Seems like it's gonna pass $350 million in its weekend, which is absolutely insane. For comparison's sake, Sonic 2 earned $71mil in its first weekend and is currently at 405.4mil.

I had a trailer for little mermaid before my movie and everyone was booing.

Even my girlfriend who doesn't give a shit about politics and culture War. Is annoyed about black Ariel. I'm really hoping this is an indication the movie will bomb hard. I really do.
Even without black Ariel the movie looks like shit, the colors are super muted and look boring, the shots are attempts at recreating the ones in the animated movie but with none of the energy that one has, and the designs because they have to be realistic just look far more boring.

Behold the power of keeping your Brand intact.

I hate to say it but the first Sonic Movie is better than Mario Brothers..and will make much less than it because who gives a flying fuck about Sanic.
