I'm legit a little upset that Martinet is retiring from the role.
It wasn't his decision unfortunately. It's so dumb to change the voice like that.

As they should have. Keep Mario (the character) as safe and universally appealing as possible. I wish his bio didn’t have pronouns, but that’s my only complaint. Also, Dragon Ball R&R is pretty good from what I remember and he does a great Raditz. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo specifically looked for someone as vanilla and inoffensive as possible.
Do we know that for certain? I don’t doubt it at all, just wondering if there’s actual proof. It wasn't his decision unfortunately. It's so dumb to change the voice like that.
Peak Nintendo of America.you scroll back through his likes, it ends up just being a bunch of rainbow flags and the hermaphrodite symbol that trannies use in their twitter names; I didn't even have to click to get to it announcing it in their bios.

Edit: And a bunch of likes doomposting about AI from a woman who's voiced absolutely no one.
I don't feel so good about new bing bing wahoo man...
It's less purity spiraling for voice actors/creators that must say that Imperial Japan did nothing wrong and more just "please don't let the voice of the most popular character for children be a supporter of pedophiles and butchering of children". That bare minimum of "not an active threat to children by them looking up their heroes online".Why people give a shit about who is voicing him confuses me greatly.
I mean, there is, but nowhere good.Woke japan? It's curtains for the world. There's nowhere lwft
Pronouns in bio is anything but wholesome. The Twitter.
Honestly, this guy is kind of wholesome. He doesn't post often, and when he does it's to talk about things he likes or congratulate other voice actors. He is engaged to a woman he has been in a relationship with for 10 years. He doesn't engage with leftist idpol garbage (or any sort of politics) and is not a rainbow-haired genderspecial. Just seems like a normal dude.
Of course he still has pronouns in bio because this is the VA industry in 2023, but considering the current crop of VAs, the old plumber got off quite easily. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo specifically looked for someone as vanilla and inoffensive as possible.
Why change voice actors when they could just use the same sound files?Mario says like two words in every game. Why people give a shit about who is voicing him confuses me greatly.
But how else would I be able to know the gender of voice actors for my favorite vidja?Pronouns in bio is anything but wholesome.
Oh god damnit, why can’t you let me live in blissful ignorance? If you scroll back through his likes, it ends up just being a bunch of rainbow flags and the hermaphrodite symbol that trannies use in their twitter names; I didn't even have to click to get to it announcing it in their bios.

exactly, it's like aflac and hiring gilbert gottfried to say the aflac line for each new commercial rather than just reusing the previous recording. Why change voice actors when they could just use the same sound files?
"AFFLAX (HE/HIM)!!"exactly, it's liek aflak and hiring gilbert gottfried to say the afflak line for each new commercial rather than just reuse the previous recording.
Jokes aside, I don't understand much the huge deal either considering what Mario does is pretty much funny noises.Mario says like two words in every game. Why people give a shit about who is voicing him confuses me greatly.
I mean, it's not. But considering the current state of affairs, a guy who merely has "he/him" in his bio and nothing else is still, sadly, probably the best we can hope for.Pronouns in bio is anything but wholesome.
Exactly. Nintendo doesn't make Mario cinematic experiences. He just says bing bing "wahoo", "here we go", not "the star is over there. Now if only there was some kind of... ladder next to the platform".Jokes aside, I don't understand much the huge deal either considering what Mario does is pretty much funny noises.
It's not like the full voice-acting of a character, as I sometimes look up the seiyuu in my japanese games & media (the VA industry in Japan is a complete different beast).

Checked his twitter too, nothing really all too damning besides liking tweets by people with fagflags in their profile, but those tweets are rather innocuous themselves. I'm almost certain if I dig further I'd probably find some stupid shit he liked about BLM or Vaccines in 2020, but I'll let someone else do the work for me.I also looked up the dude's Twitter a bit provided in the link by @The Jumping Dwarf and, unless the Twitter's API is broken on my end, found nothing exactly suspicious besides the two liked tweet chains that were complaining about AI stuff. But they're entitled to have opinions on this matter (while my stance on that subject, specifically in relation to art, is neutral).
