With the AC Shadows grift specifically it's because they think that a game about a black samurai means the evil sjws are invading Japan and treating the Japanese people like an endangered species than actual human beings.

I haven't touched the series since Assassin's Creed III and I'm seriously considering buying Shadows purely out of spite. I didn't know Grummz existed until he came running into the Warhammer fandom flailing and shrieking about the introduction of female Custodes, and it was so obvious he was a clout-chasing tourist that I immediately disregarded everything he had to say and I've been enjoying watching him make an ass of himself ever since.

They're now using sales numbers in Japan where AC: Shadows is lagging behind other, more anticipated in Japan, releases, to try to prove that the Japanese hate it. The reality is that the AC franchise has never done well in Japan (and without looking at data over history, I'd imagine the sales are on par with previous releases), but none of these grifters and gooners want to accept that. Most of all not Goonz.

Honestly, I was impressed they made it this long. They've been creatively bankrupt since about Far Cry 4 to increasingly diminishing returns and they kept doubling down on NFTs long after it became obvious that those were a fad driven mainly by grifters and gamblers, plus their management keeps saying dumb shit like "get used to not owning games".
