For all the talk about 8/v/, it's pretty insane that nobody's really bothered digging deeper into 8/b/, which for reference once rivalled, and occasionally surpassed, /v/ in PPH. Why is it so dead now? Because, everybody using it was an absolute degenerate
Right now, the current owner of /b/ on 8moe also runs the /zoo/ board, IIRC, and in fact, he was running it before he even got hands on /b/ in the first place, which was 2 or so years ago at this point. When he first got his hands on it, the board was spammed to hell and back with pictures of "Brandon Robert Kelley". He was a personal cow of sorts for the now-former userbase of /b/, who as far as I can tell were called herdniggers. /b/ at this point in time had 2 rival but mostly overlapping groups: namefags/personalities, such as Joel, Silvia (BO of /b/ before the current one), Zonz, Patch (though he was more akin to a boogeyman, even though his existance was probably real), LobbyBoi (made a post on varishangout's 8moe thread that got linked here a few pages back shilling the site), GME.bro (the guy who got his IP leaked), the commiecat poster, etc, you get the deal. The second group was pedos, because of course they were. The latter, and occasionally some of the former for some reason, would post on /cat/, a stickied thread on /b/ that happened to be the bulk of its activity. As you might have guessed, /cat/ was for SFW discussions mixed in with pictures of children lifted wholesale from sites like Instagram, and their russian equivalents. The funny thing about /cat/, and /b/ in general, was that it was handled by Silvia, the BO, and also a pedo himself. When the /hebe/ drama happened, the admins actually intended for remaining non-drawn-loli-loving pedo pictures, which funnily enough weren't allowed on /hebe/ itself during the latter stages of its existence I believe, to congregate on /b/, but the BO pushed things too far and finally got the admins to realize that pedo activity in general just couldn't be tolerated, or else you'd end up with a "Pedo bar", so to speak.
After the site admins finally cracked down on /b/, /cat/, etc., the userbase ended up scattering. One of these people was a prolific namefag called fatoldguy. He claimed to be a mega oldfag, around during the SA days. When the drama on /b/ happened, he ended up making his own site, fatoldmen.net, first as a textboard, then finally as a full-on imageboard. He made a few posts calling himself a pedo on there, I don't know why, if I remember right, but since he abruptly pulled the plug on the site, I'm guessing he might be pulling his shit together, since he did seem to be a lolcow for certain individuals who might've been stalking him online. He even made a few videos at some point, though I don't have those on hand. Nowadays, he's gone for good, but just before he pulled the plug he ended up having a major episode where he ended up trooning out, as a 40-year old man, after having a break-up, I think. He was planning to start HRT too, hopefully he ended up snapping out of it.
It's a shame that most discussions of 8moe lunacy tend to focus on the /v/ side of things, since the other side, which eventually devolved into shit like catchan and the like (which the sharty has dealt with on a few occasions), should really be documented more. Anyways, here's some other bullet-point incidents that occured in /b/'s existence/things I remember
- Zonz dickpic incident. Zonz was a "turkish femboy" who also posted on /bant/ on 4chan. He apparently was getting groomed right on the site, and ended up posting his dick while still being underage before quickly deleting it. Not sure what happened to him
- Patchans, though those seem to predate /b/. Those were made by a guy named "Patch", who would quickly make a new imageboard, then get it into drama, then shut it down. Don't know why, not sure what happened to him either. /b/ userbase in general seemed like they interacted with more obscure imageboards, and more frequently, than /v/, and had moved around a couple times already, but I don't think I know enough to say for sure.
- Relationship with /intl/.
- Joel Vs. BRK shitflinging. Joel was some other namefag who kept saying he would "BTFO" BRK
- BRK being a pedo, him getting kicked out his band for being creepy. Remember hearing that tossed around
- Modern-day BRK spam. Hell, I've seen Brandon mentioned here too. Hopefully someone who knows more about him than me can explain why certain people seem to be so obsessed with him, especially those on really small altchans.
Hopefully this will make the thread more interesting, don't know what else to say.
